One of the best lines from the movie "Bruce Almighty" is "Behind every great man... is a woman rolling her eyes". lol How much truth there is in that quote...ladies, all together now...we'll never tell!

Speaking of rolling one's eyes, ladies, when you have a moment would you please take a look at my friend, bruce12, ('s) profile? The reason I ask is because, after talking him into a three month silver membership, he says no one is looking at his profile. I'm thinkin' that if we swamp him with "eye rolling" he can quit complaining about me talking him into the membership. And, while you're at it, please feel free to critique the profile. I told him it needs more information.

Allllllrighty then.

Yes, I've borrowed the title from a Dionne Warwick song. I'm considering making it my new theme song. (My current theme song is "You Don't Own Me" - lol). My SFF guy is taking me to see Dionne Warwick at Caesar's Windsor Casino, Windsor, Ontario on January 10!

There are great guys at this site!

"I Know I'll Never Love This Way Again"

"You looked inside my fantasies
And made each one come true
Something no one else had ever found a way to do
I've kept the mem'ries one by one
Since you took me in
I know I'll never love this way again

I know I'll never love this way again
So I keep holdin' on
Before the good is gone
I know I'll never love this way again
Hold on, hold on, hold on

A fool will lose tomorrow
Reaching back for yesterday
I won't turn my head in sorrow
If you should go away
I'll stand here and remember
Just how good it's been
And I know I'll never love this way again

I know I'll never love this way again
So I keep holdin' on before the good is gone
I know I'll never love this way again
Hold on, hold on, hold on

I know I'll never love this way again
So I keep holdin' on
Before the good is gone
I know I'll never love this way again
Hold on, hold on

I know I'll never love this way again
So I keep holdin' on
Before the good is gone
I know I'll never love this way again
Hold on"

Cookies, Cookies and More Cookies!!

Well, I put off baking my Christmas cookies until the last minute. So, I've been making and baking cookies for the past two days. My motivation?? My bf has this huge kitchen and when asked, he said I could make the cookies at his house!! Boy was he surprised when I arrived with all my power tools -- lol -- food processor, cookies sheets, brand new stand mixer, etc. -- and all the fixings for baking and decorating. Since the last batch is in the oven, I thought I'd share some recipes for those that might still need to make cookies.

Chocolate Cookie Bars

1 box of chocolate cake mix
1& 1/4 sticks of margarine (melted)
4 egg whites
sugar
semi sweet chocolate chips (12 oz bag)
sliced almonds (8 oz bag)

Mix box of cake mix and margarine together
spread on non greased 15x10x1 inch pan

beat egg whites slowly adding sugar until peaks form
spread on top of cake mixture
sprinkle with semi sweet chocolate chips and sliced almonds

Bake @350 for 25-30 minutes

Let cool for approx 15 minutes then cut into bars.

I am so clever that I substituted a white cake mix & sprinkled butterscotch chips & walnuts and created a second cookie choice!!

Cranberry Nut Bars

2 eggs
1cup flour
1cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1& 1/4 cups of fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup walnuts

Grease 8 in. square pan
beat eggs until thick
gradually add sugar
stir in flour and butter, blend well
add cranberries and walnuts - mixing gently
Spread evenly in pan
Bake for 40 - 45 minutes at 350 or until golden brown and
a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
cool and cut into bars

All for now...gotta take those cookies out of the oven!!

Las Vegas...so much to see...

Our first night in Vegas we ate dinner at the Top of The World restaurant then attended the Folies Bergere at the Tropicana. The show began at 10 pm PST -- my internal clock told me it was 1:00 am and that I had been awake for 19 hours. Fantastic dinner and view of Vegas. Spent more time in the casino smoking cigarettes than watching the "show". Hmm...wondering why someone would think the mother of 4 daughters, grandmother of 8 granddaughters would want to watch a bunch of women parade around on stage half dressed. Y'all know me -- I'll ask for the logic behind the decision. (And yes, I know I should quit smoking cigarettes. Let's not talk about that right now, okay?? I might have to put on my bitch button!!)

Friday night we saw Tony Bennett at the Hilton. Tony Bennett was a 100% class act. We had 6th row seats and I readily admit that when he took the stage/began to sing, I cried. Yes, I'm a crier. I cry when I'm happy -- I cry when I'm sad.

Saturday we saw "O" at Bellagio's. I could not figure out for the life of me what the letter O had to do with the performance/show -- people and water. (Later during the trip I read an article about "O" and it actually stands for "Eau" the French word for water...DUH!! Now I get it).

Sunday, unbeknown to me, the bitch button would be promptly displayed. Zumanity at New York, New York was the name of the show. Now, since we've already discussed the mother of 4 daughters, grandmother of 8 granddaughters, half dressed topic, I'm really wondering out loud 1) Why Zumanity? 2) Why didn't I do some research about the shows? 3) Why the fre*kin' FIRST ROW SEATS? Now, if I really wanted to see naked women strutting their stuff...I'd dance naked in front of a mirror. Oops...did I say that out loud? lol Oh, and did I mention that the performers come right off the stage and "perform" up close and personal? The fully dressed guy (part of the show) ran his hand right up my leg! Hello?? I do not know you! Discussion time. Major discussion time. Learning experience!

Monday, Monday...how does that Mamas & Papas' song go?? We saw "Jersey Boys" at the Palazzo. IMO, by far the best show! I loved the story...sang along with each song (sorry if you were sitting in the mezzanine and had to endure my singing...but, hey the guy sitting next to me was singing also!)...and had to have a Four Seasons' cd (from the Jersey Boys store) after the show. Should I admit out loud that I listened to the cd for 10 hours? BTW, I'd see "Jersey Boys" everyday of the week! Fantastic show ~~ brought back teenage memories.

Tuesday, our last night in Vegas, was Bette Midler night at Caesars Palace. The show was good, even if the seats were quite a distance from the stage. Can't say I'd see her again.

Although y'all gave me great suggestions regarding what to see, my fibromyalgia flared up something fierce and more times than not I could barely walk through the hotel from the room to the restaurant, lobby or casino.

We did squeeze in a trip to Hoover Dam. Wow!! In the morning (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday) I spent my time sitting outside in shorts and a top, drinking my coffee attempting to get a suntan! We visited with a friend of my bf (and now my friend), who happens to also be a SFF member, single and fairly new to the Vegas area. Ladies, he's a nice guy!!

If y'all are wondering if I lost any money in the casinos, the answer is not really. I'm not a gambler (neither is my bf). Each time I thought of gambling I also thought of what I could buy with the money (bread, milk, electricity, etc). Been poor too many times in my life to throw money away!!

Before I left home for Vegas I sent an e-mail to TMc who lives in Vegas and just happens to be my first ever boyfriend (we were 15, I was "Red" he was the "Big, Bad Wolf" -- my handle is a nod to him). Sadly, I did not hear back from him. Wondering out loud here if he now looks like the Hunchback of Notre Dame and was worried I'd no longer be his friend?? lol He'll always be my friend -- have a special place in my heart. Anyway, on the day of our return, while waiting to board our flight, a man walked past us. He caught my eye. I looked, did the double take thing, my heart started to beat a mile a minute...sweaty palms and all! I said to my bf that the person looked like TMc. My bf suggested I go ask -- see if it was TMc. I mustered up the courage to approach the man and, boo, hoo, he was not TMc. So, there I was standing in the Las Vegas airport trying to carry on an intelligent conversation with a stranger who I'd approached out of the blue. lol The funny (at least I thought funny) part was when I returned to my seat and my bf asked me what "he" had to say -- what did we talk about?? (I was gone for about 20 minutes). I told the bf "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". I laughed -- he didn't. Hmm...no sense of humor???

For all my friends who made suggestions as to what to see/where to go in Vegas...thank you. I'd planned to see and do so much more but time, energy and my health did not permit it all. Will have to see more on my next trip! And yes, I cried when the 757 left the Las Vegas ground. I hated to leave and it was in the neighborhood of 20 degrees when we arrived at Detroit Metro Airport.

I'm going to see Johnny Mathis tonight at Caesar's in Windsor. Thanks to someone wonderful, we have third row, center seats! I'm counting on it being the best concert I've ever attended.

What is the best concert you've ever attended?
