Day 17 Continued

It was almost hours past midnight He could visualize that it is too late for Tisha either to come online or call him on ph. Being absent minded,he turned on the music system. It started ing his favorite song:

I planted illusive dreams
Wielding castles in the air,
Harvesting dashed hopes

My world, a relic,
My hopes, unnavigated,
The deity of my dreams
A fantastic, float-some image

Nothing actualized
From my deluge of desire,
Couldn't cast a soul
With my far aspirations.

In my solitude
I have been ing with flames,
Left with cinders, in the end
.

(I planted illusive dreams by Rabindranath Tagore. Translated in English by Anandamayee Majumdar)

As soon as the recorded song stopped ing, he turned off the music system. He did not feel any more to listen to the songs .His worries for Tisha came back in his mind. It occurred to him that he must be in love with Tisha!!
He tried to recollect what had happened on the night they met in the chat room of the social site on internet. He was new there. The first night was a complete disaster for him. On the second night, he was taken aback reading some of the conversations that were taking place in the room. He was surprised to read that some was making an indecent proposal to a 6 old female member in the open room! The lady’s response to the posting disturbed him more. He became simply disgusted to read the exchanges between elderly persons in an open room. He also could not understand why the other members chatting in the room, were showing indifference to such posting of obnoxious things by fellow members of the site!! They were simply ignoring the conversations of these which had been going on for a considerable time! Feeling disgusted and confused, he decided to come out of the site, never to return again.. Then it happened. Tisha came in the room and greeted him on her arrival.

"Hello and welcome! Are you new on here?"

Tisha’s question startled him. He decided to make responses to Tisha’s questions.Last night, no greeted him. Perhaps, no had noticed his presence there! He did not know how he could best make them aware that he is there too!! But Tisha's question changed everything suddenly. What a surprise!

“I must not go out without replying to her greetings”, he said to himself.
“Yes, I am new on here .Thanks for welcoming me, Tisha”, he could barely type the reply.
“Every has a new beginning on here! Is it not folks?” Tisha asked the roomies.

He could read the affirmative replies from others who were also conversing there. It appeared to him Tisha is liked by every.

“Where are you from? I mean, where do you live now?” Tisha posted.
“I mostly live in Dhaka, my home city.” He posted in response.
“I see. I have a friend who lives in Dhaka now. May I tell him to meet you?”
"Yes, you could do so, Tisha. She will be always welcome in my house.”
“Thanks, but how could she contact you?”
"She can either ph me or talk to me on YM.”
“Yes, she could.”
“Okay, May I give you my e mail address?”
“Please do not. If you do that, the site will ban you.”
“Then, what could be d?’
“Let us have a private chat then.”
“Private Chat?”
Tisha understood and told him how to do it. While chatting, they shared their e mail addresses and also got themselves formally acquainted.

The night was running out very fast. Soon the first light of the day would chase away the dark night! He went to bed and closed his eyes.

The cell ph kept on the bed side table became alive and started ringing!!

Sitting on my balcony, and seeping a cup of tea, I was reading a script sent to me by a friend of mine for my comments. While going through the first few pages of the script, I could feel that the story is based on my friend’s own emotional experiences being a lonely man, passing most of his time in his home, and addicted to browsing social websites on the internet. Suddenly, it occurred to me that I can share the story in installments with many decent people for reading the story gradually and compare the facts with their own experiences on this site. Appended is the first installment of the story which I intend to post gradually if the reader's responses are favorable!! My friend has also agreed to share the story with others.

Tisha did not turn up on the scheduled time online. He tried to contact her on a cell phone but failed. Her cell was turned off. This was most unusual of Tisha. She had never failed to keep her schedule during the last days. He became worried for Tisha. It was dinner time for him also. However, he skipped his dinner and stayed back at his desk, staring at the lighted computer screen. He could not see any reason for doing so. Tisha was a recent acquaintance and as such, he was not supposed to get himself worried for her.

“What has happened to Tisha”, he asked himself.
“Has she fallen sick or met with an accident?” he asked himself again.
“No, it can’t be, Tisha is a careful driver. She drives her car perfectly well.” He tried to assure himself.
After a while, he decided to ring her land phone, which he had never done before. He raised the handset and started dialing the number. Then he remembered, Tisha had asked him not to ring the land phone. She did not explain why. Instantly, he stopped dialing and came back to his desk.
“I must be stupid,” he said, “I am not supposed to ring her land phone.”

As the night was growing old slowly, he became restless. He felt like analyzing his state of mind. Why should he feel worried for Tisha's failure to keep her schedule? Tisha came from nowhere in his life. He knew very little of Tisha. He met Tisha in a most unlikely place days ago! It was a chance meeting!!

While having breakfast in the morning, many of us like to drink at least a cup of tea to start day’s work. Tea is the most sought after hot beverage in the world now along with coffee.

However, how many of us know the origin of tea?

Legend has it that tea originated in China almost 5000 years ago. Emperor Shen Nung, who ruled China in the 28th century BC, is credited with the discovery of tea. The year of discovery of tea is believed to be 2738 BC,
Emperor Nung is the first person who sniffed the fragrant brew and drunk with pleasure.
Being a beneficent ruler, he decided to share the wondrous brew with his subjects and tea was born!

Tea was first considered a medicinal herb, and was infused from green untreated leaves. On later years, Chinese found its better uses, and once found, tea was on the path of popularity.

From the beginning of the 8th century, tea became integral to the lives of the rich and privileged people of South Asian countries, especially China and Japan. It was then no more a drink; it became a symbol of hospitality and a ceremony.

How tall a tea plant could grow if not disturbed? It will grow into a tree of up to
m (52 ft).. However, cultivated plants are pruned to waist height for ease of plucking.
Only the top 1-2 inches of matured plants are picked.

Workers who pick tea on plantation unfortunately usually face exploitations. It is widely reported that they are being often exploited by the plantation owners. Workers are under paid, and usually earn below the living wage.

Tea contains catechins, a type of antioxidant. It also contains amino acid L-theanine, and small amounts of Theobromine and Theophylline. Tea does not contain Tannic Acid.

Tea is both reviving and soothing. It is now being suggested that its antioxidant properties may help ward off heart diseases. Tea is not a medicine and so should not be drunk as a remedy for illness.

She looks fabulous in Jade with a touch of white
on the matching skirt.

She Is "Ange" from the Island of Mauritius.

My friend Ange is a noticeable environmentalist from this beautiful island, who has been broadly supporting the goals of the environmental movement," a political and ethical movement that seeks to improve and protect the quality of the natural environment through changes to environmentally harmful human activities."

One must not consider her either a 'Greenie' or a 'tree-hugger'.
She is what she is!!

True, she may neither be a Jane Fonda, nor a Rachel Carson or any of the other notable environmentalists, but she, standing alone,is fighting for a good cause.

Angie wishes all of us to open our eyes, and try to see what we pretend not to see, not to hear, not to understand and not bother ourselves about, before it becomes irremediable. She wants to form a human chain for her struggle to protect and save our environment.

She humbly begs each of us to consider, analyze, refrain from killing, hurting our Fauna, the wild life and to keep it safe, save them from destruction and extinction.

She wishes all the the deaf to hear, all the blind to see,and all the dumb to speak. She is sure that all our voices together would be just one but a useful one for a good cause. She believes that," where there is a will there is a way."

I respect Ange, being my best friend as she inspires me to be creative. She frequently tells me to forgive but not forget even a con man.Let us all come forward to assist her to reach her desired goal.

The balcony is the place to get out of the daily routine and take an overview of life around us. From the balcony one can see the jostling of the crowed in the street, the flow of life in its boarder dimension. Even though one belongs to this life, balcony detaches the viewer from the flow and provides opportunity to ponder about. Thus the balcony alienates oneself from everyday life and at the same time links in a new way with the flow of life. The view from balcony is a pleasure for an old age, whether it is of use to anyone is another issue, but here on the balcony, one is not far from the madding crowed, only a bit detached and at the same time involved. With these words in the simplicity of relaxation I wish to share this panoramic view of life with you all, hoping that the shadow and greenness of my 'Hanging Garden' would enchant your viewing all the living plants and fern there.

Resolutely Supporting Wrong

Sitting on my balcony, this morning, I had been going through the editorial published yesterday in an English language Newspaper of my country, text of which is appended for comments from the readers.
The Nation
Resolutely Supporting Wrong

December 19, 2013

It appears that a large segment of the political leadership is facing tremendous difficulty in coming to terms with certain ground realities. Perhaps, all they require is a little assistance and so, it shall be offered: East-Pakistan is no more. In its place, there exists an independent, sovereign state, popularly known as Bangladesh. It is inhabited by Bengalis. Not former or future Pakistanis, just Bengalis. Those who find the facts stated above far too obvious and think that there is no need to reiterate the unmistakable, are advised to take a brief look at the NA resolution passed by the lower house of the Parliament against the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami (Bangladesh) leader, Abdul Quader Mollah. Apparently, forty-four years are just not enough for some to recover from a bad break-up.

While speaking on the issue in the National Assembly, Interior Minister, Nisar Ali Khan, claimed that Mr Mollah was hanged for ‘supporting’ Pakistan and remained true to the cause of a united Pakistan till the very last day of life. He further claimed that the nation was deeply saddened by the execution of the veteran JI leader. False, all of it. Of course, it doesn’t help that Bangladeshi PM, Ms Wajid, is not immune to playing politics on the issue either, claiming that there is “no place” in Bangladesh for supporters of Pakistan.

Although Mr Mollah’s charge sheet is quite extensive, ‘supporting’ Pakistan during 1971 isn’t listed as a crime anywhere. It does, however, contain allegations of murder and **** of several men, women and , and those are precisely the heinous crimes he was tried for, convicted and executed. Being a seasoned politician, Mr Nisar is surely aware that there are far better ways than torturing and killing dissenters to express patriotism and struggling for unity. Secondly, if in Mr Nisar’s infinite wisdom, it is a matter of pride for a Bangladeshi national to seek a ‘united Pakistan’ till his last breath, what opinion does he hold for a Pakistani citizen who seeks a united India? Thirdly, Pakistan has no right poking its nose in the internal matters of another country. The ongoing trials in Bangladesh are the fulfillment of the election promise of its PM, Sheikh Hasina Wajid. Let us not forget that a life imprisonment sentence failed to satisfy by the Bangladeshi populace, who took to the streets demanding a death sentence instead. But, even if that was not the case, it is none of Pakistan’s business. Their aggressors, their victims and their decisions. Just because we are not interested in taking our criminals to task, doesn’t necessarily mean that the rest of the world must act with the same callousness.

Bangladesh has already recorded its protest with the Pakistan’s High Commissioner and demanded the resolution be withdrawn. The nation is not in favor of portraying convicted murderers and as heroes of the ‘cause’. Stop embarrassing us.
