I can remember looking at my dad's hands and wondering how they got so wrinkled and old looking. Then I remembered that those hands did a lot of wonderful things. They were always there to lift me up when I was fell down.they patted me on the back when i did a good thing, even when i wasn't that good. They were so strong for such a small man, but he was a giant to me. They showed me how to tie a rope,to hold a gun but most of all how to hold my first .I guess the most important thing was when he put his hand together and recited the Lord's Prayer, rather prayed the Lord's Prayer. I could go on and on what Dad's hands did for me, they made a living working in some pretty hard jobs. Now I look at my hands and pray that my hand will be remembered by my Boys.

It is so nice to see more sunny days and the temperature rising. I like this time of year for I am getting the motorcycle ready for cruising and all of my fishing gear ready for open waters. The old muscle cars are coming out of winter storage, bringing back memories of time gone by. The smell of all the outdoor grill cooking away. My favorite the corn on the cob on the grill , the watermelon and all of the great cookouts. I can't forget the deep fried catfish or fish fry. yum The thing I miss from the south fresh purple hull peas.

It seems like so long ago, but it feels like yesterday. I had just entered third grade and Mrs Jacob was a new teacher that year. She lived next door so I had a step up on the other students. She had a that was a year younger than me and we became good friends. We were always playing kick ball or just hanging out. Then one day we were in the back yard and she did you see that squirrel run behind the shied and we gave chase. When we got behind the shied, she turned around and said would you do something for me and I said what. She said she saw her mom and dad hugging and he kissed her. She wanted to know what it was all about. She then gave me a hug and all I though about was how strong she was for it was a bare hug then she kissed me. She then tagged me and said you're it and took off running. It was funny after that we held hands a lot. The next year they moved. I really missed her. but that is a part of growing up.

It just seems like yesterday, I could smell the coffee brewing and the smell of bacon cooking. I was only 12 and my brother was 16. It was the first time I got to go deer hunting with my dad and big brother. I remember mom saying dress warm for it is cold outside. The drive seemed like a long one but was only 20 miles to dad's favorite hunting grounds. Dad put my brother on a stand then we walked a little further down the old logging trail. dad and i sit down on this old log and not saying a word, He would always point and using his hands and point to his ears meaning for me to listen. I could see a deer coming our way and dad would put his finger to his lips meaning for me to be very quiet. Dad made a motion for me to take the shot, I was so excited bringing the old 12 gauge shotgun to my shoulder knowing it was going kick like a mule. It was a spiked buck(4 points to be exact) I took the shot and he ran about 10 yards before he dropped. My dad gave me a big hug and said good shot . It is nice to remember some of the good times growing up.
