I should have posted a couple of funny horse memes I have. What the heck, I can still do that.

Great "H "photos of your granddaughter and Drifter. I love the second cute photo of your granddaughter and Hope in the snow. Lucky little girl to have grown up with your beautiful horses.

Interesting pictures of the horses. They do have their own personalities, don't they?

I've been keen to see pictures of your horse, Nile. He's a very handsome bay - does he have any white markings? You mentioned elsewhere he's 15.3 hands. How old is Drifter? He looks to be in excellent condition with his glossy coat and good muscle tone. I had horses when I was younger, and actually preferred their company to that of men more often than not as I found them more interesting. They're noble, highly intelligent animals as you would know. And because of their size, they seem almost like mythological creatures.

Thank you Maudie. Hope was a 4 year old in that pic, she is now 24. Hard to believe how time flies by. Hope is actually my oldest daughter's horse, she got her when she was 7 months old. I consider all of us as lucky kids, we have been around horses all our lives.

Thanks Pat! Yes, every horse I have owned has had a different personality. I had one named Rawhide who wouldn't let anyone ride him if I wasn't there, if my daughter tried to ride him when I wasn't around, he'd toss her after a few steps. I remember walking towards the riding arena and the next thing I see is my oldest getting tossed over the bushes. He looked at me knowing he was busted and put his head down. My daughter got back up on him and he was good for the rest of the ride.

Thank you Glumo. He's my baby. This is the only horse I have ever had that walked up to me and put his head in my arms. The man I bought him from said he had never seen anything like that and Drifter never did that with anyone else. So yes, it was love at first sight.

Hi Lilium and thank you. Drifter has no white on him. He just turned 17 on May 18th. He doesn't always look that pretty, lol, not when he decides he's going to roll in the mud. Good brushings, oats, vitamins and alfalfa hay on occasion seem to keep his coat shining, oh and him getting a bath when he needs one. My kid took one of those, me grooming him after his bath, but since I didn't take it, I didn't post it. Lol, yes, I'm like you, I'll take my horses over a man any day! When I show jumped, there's your mythological creature, feeling like your horse has wings when they fly over a jump. I miss those days.

You're so lucky to live in a spot where there are horses! Not many in this area but when I do find them I really enjoy watching them. They're so peaceful when they graze. Great photos!

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

Thanks for your reply Nile. Fascinating to know you also show jumped (I never reached that level except to jump fences/logs of modest height (used to pretend I was the horse lol ). It takes a lot of courage as well as experience and confidence in your mount/horse I would think and can imagine you missing those exhilarating days although at far more intense level than I ever could appreciate (was brave enough to jump horses over low logs however, lol ). Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Koffla, I have 2 older brothers that are afraid of horses, don't know why, they were raised in the same environment I was. I remember my younger daughter brought her horse out of his stall so she could show him to my brother and his wife and the horse snorted, lol, and they both jumped away like the horse was going to eat them or something. The looks on their faces were priceless.

Thanks Pearls. I never really thought about how many horses are on this 2 mile stretch of road I live on, but thinking about it, you wouldn't have to drive far if you lived here.

You're very welcome Lilium. Lol, we used to play horses as kids too, jumping over stuff, running and prancing. It's what we used to do to entertain ourselves back then, and we also got our exercise at the same time. My highest jump was on Piewhacket at 5 feet, never jumped anything over that. Biggest horse I ever rode was my trainer's horse Tom Thumb, he was a 17 hand warmblood. Never jumped him over a 5' jump, but I swear, he cleared a 3 1/2 foot jump by 3 feet.
I can still remember how it feels, so I'll always have that and the memories. Thank you for letting me share them with you.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend too!

Thank you Looklook. I consider it an honor to have these magnificent animals in my life, I feel like the lucky one. I promised them a home till the day I die, my daughters will carry out my wishes should that ever happen.

Many years ago a friend had two horses I would often go to his place & we would ride them.
The mare I always rode had a tendency to (drift) over & under e all the tree branches that were about head high. LOL
Also she refused to let another horse get very far ahead of her. When that happened she would bolt forward like out of the Kentucky Derby gates. LOL
That horse kept the rider alert at all times. LOL

One time we decided to RUN them in a shallow creek waterhole in an effort to stomp a bunch of big carp that inhabited it.
We soon realized that horses had difficulty running in water and those carp were fast boogers & they must be able to see in severely stirred up muddy water. We had visions of stomped carp floating to top of the water but it didn't happen. Plus the poor horses were completely exhausted.
We were young then & didn't know better. The horses could have died from it.

Niles many years ago we lived in the Metroplex & my son befriended a lady somewhat older than him. This lady had some land and rode jumper horses.
Very pretty lady with a scar running from corner of the mouth around side of her cheek. We always assumed it was caused by being thrown from one of her horses.
Not many ride jumpers. Would you happen to know her?

Hahaha, that mare was trying to take you out with a tree branch. Sounds like a mare I rode years ago. Not a very enjoyable ride when you have to fight a horse that's made up their mind they want you off. They are smart and once they learn something, they don't forget it!

Kids don't think about how tired their horses are, my oldest daughter almost killed my horse Jackpot by doing the same thing. Not the carp stomping, but not giving him a break. When I found him lathered and shaking, I wanted to ring her neck. Had to call the vet, really close to losing him.
