My friend, Bruce12...affectionately referred to as "Uncle", will have surgery (and a biopsy done) on Monday. He's nervous, depressed and of course, not looking forward to Monday's ordeal. And yes, Rosie is correct, Bruce12 is a MD -- he knows first hand what his symptoms indicated which leads me to believe that he is way more nervous than he lets on.

Sadly, without explanation, he's deleted his profile.* But thinking positive...perhaps once he gets over this hurdle he'll make a new profile and date more!

Please sing "Viva Las Vegas" on Monday ~~ loud and clear! I bet he'll hear us!

"Bright light city gonna set my soul
Gonna set my soul on fire
Got a whole lot of money that's ready to burn,
So get those stakes up higher
There's a thousand pretty women waitin' out there
And they're all livin' devil may care
And I'm just the devil with love to spare
Viva Las Vegas, viva Las Vegas..."

*Oops...my bad...he didn't delete his profile...he turned it off for a while!

I'm happy to update my blog Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

My , Kristina, received the results of her PET scan and we are ecstatic! After 7 chemo treatments, the cancer is gone from the following areas: her neck, clavicle, rib, spine, liver and ovary. The mass in her chest has shrunk significantly! The doctor told her that her progress has surpassed his expectations. (She still faces 9 more chemo sessions before she completes her treatment plan).

Thank you all for your words of encouragement, the positive thoughts and energy, prayers, shoulder to cry on, friendship and information. Words can not be found to properly describe our gratitude.

My friend, Bruce12, (whom I affectionately call "Uncle" -- yes, he calls me "Auntie" ) is in the hospital. He arrived in the e.r. on Friday night/Saturday early morning. Right now I am not at liberty to discuss the particulars of his medical condition/concern but I can say today he will undergo some rather invasive tests.

Let's hope he is home soon and learns how to use SFF properly. (His last faux pas was deleting all invitations to others' network of friends! )

In the mean time, please send some positive energy and thoughts his direction. Thanks.

I've always loved the book and, of course, the movie "The Godfather". Love it for so many reasons. The powerful love story. The love for family and friends -- true friends. The wisdom. The great sounding food! The money and power are enticing...intoxicating. There are many great lines to quote. As one can tell from this blog's title, I quote movie lines. I often quote lines from "The Godfather", "Godfather II" and "Godfather III" (to mention a few movies).

So, where the h*ll and I going with this? Hmm...Here's the scoop. My silver - whoop - de - do membership expires tomorrow. I'm being bombarded with re-new NOW requests. SFF didn't even know I existed until they realized I was about to stop lining their pocketbook! Effective at midnight I will become what I think SFF considers a step-, a Standard Member.

My friends here are family. Many family members have written and I've not written back yet. I have until that magic pumpkin hour to answer all my messages before I'm limited to the number of messages I can send. I just won't get it done. I'm sorry. Please accept my apologies.

Sorry...nothing of value to say. I'm just testing SFF. I've written two blogs that have yet to appear on the "list".

Have a great weekend!

Some will immediately recognize what the title was borrowed from. We can all hear Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits singing "I'm (H)Enry The VIII, I Am, (H)Enry The VIII I Am, I Am...". Well, good news for me...thanks (again) to that wonderful man in my life, I'll be hearing Peter Noone and those Hermits singing more than Henry The VIII in late February in Findlay, OH!!! We have tickets for 3rd row seats to attend the concert! To think the last time I was at a Herman's Hermits concert was back in '64 or '65 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Gee, think they'll recognize me? lol

There's a very important reason for me attending this concert. Back in July -- the 27th to be exact -- of 2006, I flippantly made the remark "Baby, Baby Can't You Hear My Heartbeat" while making an entry on my (then) S/O's CarePage when the doctors required yet another heart catheterization. (If y'all haven't heard of CarePage -- it's a great way to disseminate information [to family and friends] about a loved one's medical care/hospitalization). After that date, every time he or I would have a very stressful moment or when we least expected it, Herman's Hermits would begin to sing either on the radio or the tv music channel (at our apartment or in the hospital). I could fill pages with dates and times Peter Noone would sing to me. One time in particular when my S/O was transferred to the ICU, my , Kristina, was with me when we entered his room. Kristina turned on the tv to the music channel so there would be familiar sounds (music) in the background. Yes, Herman's Hermits began to sing. After my S/O passed away, I would walk into the grocery store and, yes, Herman's Hermits would begin to sing via the overhead piped-in music. The eeriest time was in 2008 after a dinner date the gentleman was driving me home. He was showing me his new fangle-dangle car radio and, since I like the oldies, he turned the channel to the 60's music. Yes, Herman's Hermits began to sing IMMEDIATELY upon his changing the channel. I used to feel depressed and haunted. Now when I hear the songs I believe it is a friendly reminder to enjoy life.

To add to the weirdness, when I learned that Peter Noone and his Hermits were performing in Findlay, OH, it was a "given" that I attend this concert. Why? Because Findlay is where my mother was born and raised.

Of course I am a member of Peter Noone's fan club. I have my official member number, my membership card, my autographed picture, a t-shirt with "Second Verse, Same As The First" printed on it, my official fan club newsletter and a handwritten thank you card written & signed by Peter Noone, welcoming me to and thanking me for joining the fan club. My youngest found (at a local thrift store) a Herman's Hermits album cover (remember those -- lp records? ) to add to my collection of Hermits' items!

We're spending the weekend in Findlay. We have the "Noonatic" rate at the hotel! There's a sock hop after the concert. Rumor has it that Peter Noone parties with his fans after the concert.

Life is wonderful. Or as Peter Noone put it "I'm Into Something Good".

Note to Secret Angel...I'm gonna be in your neck of the woods...will you be at the concert??

From SFF: Your post has been denied due to the following reason: language_not_supported Please update your post to get it re-reviewed.

This is a re-post after editing because although sometimes it seems SFF's staff is in India ~~ they can't read Hindi. What I edited out is "Happy Birthday To You" written in both English and Hindi.

Hope your birthday was happy, Uncle.

Worthy of the Golden Globe awards and the Academy Award nominations is the movie "Slumdog Millionaire". Get your popcorn, treats and beverages before the movie starts. You'll not want to miss a minute...plus it is one of those stories that one must pay attention to every detail/word to properly know the story.

Yes, it is violent at times (many times). Yes, your heart will break for so many characters in the movie. Yes, it is a love story ~~ love for others ~~ love of life. Yes, it is a small but shocking peek into the poverty that exists in parts of India. Yes, IMO, you'll enjoy this movie.

Oh Brother...Big Brother?

While trying to navigate the messed up SFF blog site I came across "5 Watchers" when I clicked on "My Blog". It got me to thinking...just who are these 5 Watchers? Do they have names? Or do they prefer to be referred to as the SFF 5? Are they similar to the Dirty Dozen? Or family a la "Cheaper By The Dozen" ?? Can they be a singing group as entertaining as Herman and His Hermits? Can they do the Temptation walk as good as an original Temptation? Just who might these 5 be that watch me? And, do they see me running around in my unmentionables (and why are bras and panties unmentionable? ) in the early hours of the am ~~ sans make-up and before brushing my teeth?

Do blog policemen or policewomen exist? Could it be the Trollenberg Terror? (Which, BTW, SFF wouldn't let me post a picture of)! Is big brother watching? Do I need to get a hobby?

Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Some have asked...others quietly wait for me to say something. It's okay either way.

A few months back Rosie mentioned it in one of her blogs. Sweet Rosie. Before Christmas I commented on Dallas' blog about my #2 (in birth order) 's positive attitude. Lady A gave me some food for thought. Sweet Lady A.

Today I'm willing to talk about it. My #2 in birth order but in no way #2 in my heart, has Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has a name...actually her name came about because her father wanted to name her after a tv star and I DIDN'T! I think Tina Louise was not a great name! So I named her Kristina!! She's always been my "rock". She would drop everything and run to my side when I needed her during my (now deceased) s/o's long illness and 2 liver transplants. (Keep in mind that his transplants and subsequent medical care was in Madison, WI for 6 months in 2001 and 10 months in 2005-2006 and she lived in the Detroit area).

I've gone through the gamut of emotions ~~ and I'm not even the patient. I know, I know, she has a 77% chance of being cured. We are grateful for that. It still does not take away the pain of chemo that she must endure. She has chemo every other week (she's had 5 treatments to date) and will have chemo until July 2009. At that time her condition will be reassessed.

She is in extreme pain ~~ pain that the doctors can't seem to get under control. She has chest pain that is unexplained. She is miserable. As a mother I want to be able to fix what is wrong but I can't.

She is frightened. I am so freakin' angry I can hardly contain my emotions. Me ~~ the person with the positive message attached to her every blog entry ~~ I'm allowing negative thoughts to control my thinking.

My question to y'all is, do you know any positive stories about Hodgkin's Lymphoma that you could share?
