"Second Verse, Same As The First"

Some will immediately recognize what the title was borrowed from. We can all hear Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits singing "I'm (H)Enry The VIII, I Am, (H)Enry The VIII I Am, I Am...". Well, good news for me...thanks (again) to that wonderful man in my life, I'll be hearing Peter Noone and those Hermits singing more than Henry The VIII in late February in Findlay, OH!!! We have tickets for 3rd row seats to attend the concert! To think the last time I was at a Herman's Hermits concert was back in '64 or '65 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Gee, think they'll recognize me? lol

There's a very important reason for me attending this concert. Back in July -- the 27th to be exact -- of 2006, I flippantly made the remark "Baby, Baby Can't You Hear My Heartbeat" while making an entry on my (then) S/O's CarePage when the doctors required yet another heart catheterization. (If y'all haven't heard of CarePage -- it's a great way to disseminate information [to family and friends] about a loved one's medical care/hospitalization). After that date, every time he or I would have a very stressful moment or when we least expected it, Herman's Hermits would begin to sing either on the radio or the tv music channel (at our apartment or in the hospital). I could fill pages with dates and times Peter Noone would sing to me. One time in particular when my S/O was transferred to the ICU, my , Kristina, was with me when we entered his room. Kristina turned on the tv to the music channel so there would be familiar sounds (music) in the background. Yes, Herman's Hermits began to sing. After my S/O passed away, I would walk into the grocery store and, yes, Herman's Hermits would begin to sing via the overhead piped-in music. The eeriest time was in 2008 after a dinner date the gentleman was driving me home. He was showing me his new fangle-dangle car radio and, since I like the oldies, he turned the channel to the 60's music. Yes, Herman's Hermits began to sing IMMEDIATELY upon his changing the channel. I used to feel depressed and haunted. Now when I hear the songs I believe it is a friendly reminder to enjoy life.

To add to the weirdness, when I learned that Peter Noone and his Hermits were performing in Findlay, OH, it was a "given" that I attend this concert. Why? Because Findlay is where my mother was born and raised.

Of course I am a member of Peter Noone's fan club. I have my official member number, my membership card, my autographed picture, a t-shirt with "Second Verse, Same As The First" printed on it, my official fan club newsletter and a handwritten thank you card written & signed by Peter Noone, welcoming me to and thanking me for joining the fan club. My youngest found (at a local thrift store) a Herman's Hermits album cover (remember those -- lp records? ) to add to my collection of Hermits' items!

We're spending the weekend in Findlay. We have the "Noonatic" rate at the hotel! There's a sock hop after the concert. Rumor has it that Peter Noone parties with his fans after the concert.

Life is wonderful. Or as Peter Noone put it "I'm Into Something Good".

Note to Secret Angel...I'm gonna be in your neck of the woods...will you be at the concert??

Hi RedRidingHood, I love looking forward to something like that. You think the day will never come, and to be up so near the stage....well, thats the icing on the cake. Have a great day and no doubt you will let us all know about it eventually. Good things happen to good people.

Thanks, Robyn! I'm planning on having a great trip to Findlay (it's approximately 100 miles each way) and enjoying the concert. Thanks, also, for the good things/good people comment. What a great friend you are!

Hi 16! ~~ The concert is on Saturday, the 28th and yes, I'll be hoarse from screaming!! Yes, amazing...and thanks for the proper words for me to use. I always had such a hard time explaining the Herman's Hermits "thing"...now I will use your words -- "background music of my life". I'll let you know how it went!
