Fate vs Choice - 1/7/2019

At the turn of a year many people contemplate the past and what may be lying ahead of us. Is each individual's fate predetermined or is it their choice how their life's journey turns out? Is illegal migration one of the biggest issues facing the Western World? - 12/27/2018

It seems to a very big problem in many countries. As I understand it, US President Trump is demanding billions of dollars to build an impregnable wall across the border with Mexico to stop people without documentation from entering the country. How do you feel about your age? - 4/16/2016

I am 70 years old, wow, blows my mind when I let it sink in, not in a bad way though. Since I can't change my age, I can accept it and marvel at reaching this incredible age. When I was young, I never really gave aging that much thought, I was busy raising my family and working outside the home.

Do you get your routine health screenings? - 4/14/2016

Shuel2002 just posted a blog about the importance of colonoscopies. Some forms of cancer are not preventable, they just happen. But colon cancer is very preventable, by a regular colonoscopy because the doctor can remove polyps in the colon before they become cancerous. It is a slow growing cancer, but once it gets a hold, it can spread rather rapidly to other areas in the body. ...

I have been trying to find good dependable kitchen appliances, double wall ovens, gas cooktop, under the counter refrigerator drawers. I have no real idea where SFF porch is located, so I went were it all started, in Boca Raton Florida. A Penny for your thoughts - 4/3/2013

Hold the phone, I can't give you a penny for your thoughts because Canada has done away with the penny.

Here in lies the question. I needed a loonie ($1 coin) to buy the local newspaper on the way to work. Mrsdinty said there may be one in the Rummoli can, which is in the trailer.

You do know the Rummoli game right?

Now what are the Canadians going to use for the game ...

Although it was forecast long before it got here, a blizzard at the end of March was the last thing I expected this winter. We had gotten only one other snow this year that was bad enough for the township to plow our road, so this was a shocker!

About three hours ago, I received word that my late husband's brother in law had passed away. He held a very special place in my heart and Joe really liked him too. My heart broke for my sister in law... they had been married almost 42 years.

And now, just a few minutes ...

Alisdair Miller - 4/30/2012

Mr. Miller is a wonderful photographer....I just finished viewing his photos of Dubai's skyscrapers.

I love photos of NYC's buildings, new and not so new. The new Freedom Tower should be interesting to watch being built.

I hope my friends on the porch have a wonderful day. Here in my neck of the woods, hood or my neighborhood as some would call it, it is going to be a ...

Those Annoying Religious Tracts - 4/28/2012

I work in Retail as a Cashier and have to be polite to customers no matter how obnoxious they are. Politics and Religion are two areas where most folks have strong opinions. Most of the time I just don't "go there" with people especially since most of my views are unconventional.

Nevertheless, if one more customer hands me one of those Religious Tracts, I am going to be very ...

Update on Destiny, April 23rd - 4/23/2012

I spoke to her son again today. Destiny is drifting in and out of awareness, and doesn't even try to speak anymore. Her oxygen levels have fluctuated dramatically, sometimes down into the 40s and 50s (90s are normal, 80 is low) and at times has had to have her oxygen at 15 liters. (2 liters - 4 liters is usual) The doctors have not tried to give the family a time frame, but they all know they ...

Friday the 13th.... are you superstitious? - 4/13/2012

I just now realized that it is Friday the 13th. Am I superstitious? Nah. But my grandma was, even though she denied it. My sister and I have some good memories and chuckles about her sayings.

Sadly, the number 13 was one thing that really bothered her, and the fact that her birthday was on the 13th didn't seem to help her any. In fact, she considered her birthday to be the most ...

The Fruit Place - 4/12/2012

This sick puppy called a computer is going back to the Fruit Place once again. Three times already... if this visit isn't the charmer I believe I I will start frothing at the mouth, right before their eyes. I will wait until the store is packed to do my frothing.

Shoot I haven't the vaguest idea what is wrong with it, obviously the fruities don't know either. I turned it on this ...

April 6, update on Destiny - 4/6/2012

I just spoke to Destiny's son. Due to the morphine that she is getting, she is comfortable, breathing easier, eating better, and sleeping better at night. She doesn't even have to use the BiPap machine all the time during the daytime now. However, she still doesn't have any voice, probably due to the tumor pressing on nerves to her larynx, so they have to lean real close to hear her, and she ...

Which Printer? - 4/5/2012

Hi my friends

I intend to buy a new printer and would like to have your opinion (perhaps based on experience) which printer is most reliable.

I do have an HP ink-jet and a 3-in-1 printer but both are too bulky for my purpose.

Ideally it should be a printer that is small, economical and easy to carry.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you ...

A Perry "OOPS" as I like to call them. - 4/4/2012

So I'm typing on my puter, which I'm going to be taking in this afternoon, the little thang is still not working. I call the store where I purchased it the fruit store, you know the "apple a day keeps the doctor away store?" Anyway, for some reason my puter was working, only for a short period of time though, and I was composing this posting about my past and future visit with them. Oh! my!, ...

Where DID they go? - 4/2/2012

I just wrote an early morning blog about time moving on. If you want to read it, just hit view my blog. But my thoughts ran deeper than just time moving on..... I thought about all the folks who have graced our lives here on the porch and wondered where did they all go. Some are very sick... and some have passed away. Some have just grown tired of writing in SFF and sneak in to read a little ...

Where did they go? - 3/28/2012

For the first time since I can remember, there has always been these two love birds on the main page of my SFF log in page along with the same five people at the bottom. Now it is a new couple all in white, but the same five people are at the bottom of the page. It just did not feel right. I looked all over, but alas they are gone.

I think the new fella must have a high voice, because it ...

Is there too much "Wah Wah Wah" in Country Music? - 3/21/2012

My younger son got himself a DUI and had to spend a few days in the Southern Regional Bed and Breakfast. My Philosophy is the tougher it is - the better he'll learn so when I picked him up - I decided to torture him with Country Music on the way home and Reba is his least favorite.

I drove all the back roads home and played Reba for him.

Lately, I've been hearing Reba ...

Do people treat us according to our clothes? - 3/12/2012

I just wrote a blog, that I will not repeat here, about two days that I had to go to the Walgreen's drug store. I was dressed in clean but shabbier clothes on the first day, and treated poorly. The next day, I was dressed better and treated much better. I believe it was because of the way I was dressed. Do you think you treat people differently because of how they are dressed? You can go read ...

Life Is So Short. - 3/2/2012

How many times have I heard those words....Now that the pace of my life has geared down, which happens when one retires and the children are raised, I am more aware. I am at a good place in my life and know how fortunate I am. Sometimes looking back I can and do think about the choices I made and some I didn't make that in hindsight, would have made my life simpler.

You always hear people, of former generations, tell you how much better living way back when was, than it is now. I do remember those days and remember playing along the way and always being late for that first morning bell. Always ...

For the last few months I have buried my head in the sand, like so many others, and have tuned out on what is happening in the world.
