Good Politicians.... Are there any? - 8/25/2015

A quotation I saw today:-

"Politicians are like bananas. They come in green, turn yellow, and there is not a straight one in the bunch."

With presidential elections approaching, politicians are jockeying for nomination and are speaking at rallies and other public functions. Do you have any good ones in your area and if so what have they done to gain your confidence? ...

"We are happy and gay......" - 8/18/2015

Maybe I am old fashioned, but does anyone else find it hard to accept the hijacking of the word "gay" over the last decade or so? It was a short little adjective in the English language meaning "happy and full of fun".

Because it is a short word conjuring up an impression of happiness, smiling faces and positivity, it was cleverly taken up by the homosexual community and used as a word ...

Do you get Hot listed by young ones? - 8/13/2015

This is SENIOR Friend Finder and I suppose we all get placed on someone's Hot List from time to time. I guess that is supposed to indicate that the person has some interest in us.. It would be natural to assume that the person concerned would read our profile before taking this step and only be interested in Hot listing someone of around the same age. NOT SO... Looking through the list of those ...

Does SFF have a future? - 7/25/2015

Having returned to this site after a long break I have noticed some changes. The Advice Lines seem to have fallen out of use in the last few years with Blogs taking over. Unfortunately it appears that some of the personal abuse is continuing in the latter forum.

Whilst membership numbers appear stable it seems to me that active members both paying and non-paying have reduced ...

Getting spam mail on SFF is it the norm now? - 7/21/2015

It seems like for the last number of days I am hearing from men supposedly where it says they are from of which I doubt. The messages are poorly constructed and none of it makes sense. Why is it that we have to put up with this? Sometimes they get suspended before I ever read them as they no doubt gave out email addresses and cell numbers. I immediately delete them. ...

Freud = Fraud? - 2/23/2015

Did anybody read and take seriously Freud's ground-breaking stuff (a Century ago) on human development? The 'Electra Complex' and the male version, I forget what it was called. I did eventually and as much as I was highly critical (his techniques of eliciting research did get a bad press), I still contrast experiences with the oppo sex in real life, with some of it in mind. Some quite ...

Does the plumbing still work? - 6/2/2014

I am 71 years old. It has been a number of years since I have had an intimate relationship with a lady. Should I find a lady that wishes to enter into a serious relationship at some point in time there will be intimacy. At some point I think I should tell her that I'm not sure if the plumbing still will work. Is there a proper place, time and way to impart this information?

In your mind, where is this porch located? - 4/2/2014

I have no real idea where SFF porch is located, so I went were it all started, in Boca Raton Florida. Picked out 3614 South Ocean Blvd, because it looks like it has enough rooms to accommodate quite a few people. The porch (Lanai in this case because it is a regal home) I think is a rather large, Palm Thatch covered roof for shade. Sunny with a comfortable warm breeze blowing. ...

It would appear that blog land has become a little volatile and a spark could blow things up and things will be said that can't be taken back.

Call me chicken if you like but I don't know enough of what is really going on to take sides. It may take several weeks, even months before information is available to make any sense of the problem. Until then I will keep an open mind and a closed ...

What's wrong with universal health care? - 2/11/2014

I don't understand the opposition to universal coverage regardless of ability to pay.

The US has more people enrolled in single payor, government administered health care than the entire populations of Canada or Australia.

If government medicine in good enough for seniors and veterans, why is it bad for everyone else?

Mother knows best! - 2/10/2014

John invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but noticing how beautiful John's room-mate was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between John and his room-mate, and this had only made her more curious.

Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between John and ...
