Just my observations on my journey, for what they're worth

Feast or famine

I thought of Jan, who used post here, when I read about flooding in NSW, Australia, specifically around Broken Hill, where she lived. Feast or famine....or rather, drought, fires and flooding.

Late for 12/1, but I didn't want to not post after expressing support for revival of Foto Friday. I'l do better this week!

I like unusual poinsettias--the two-tone, the speckled, the pink--but I had never seen these, pistachio and peach, so I had to get them.

I just saw a collection of winter photos and captions that reminded me of Grouch's tales of outdoor life.

You can see them on the CBS news website, followed by

This is one of the many views from Hildene, an estate in southern Vermont. I'll post more pictures later of my visit there.

I saw these in the garden of a bistro at Cayuga Lake. I have no idea what they are.

Last weekend a friend and I hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in Maryland. The view is over the Cumberland Valley from Annapolis Rocks, very near the trail. The mountain laurel was still blooming. At Gathland State Park you can see structures (including the remains of this building) that were part of the estate of George Alfred Townsend, a Civil War correspondent.

I dedicated our hike to Thegrouch.
