She Can't Be Really Gone

A girlfriend of 35+ passed away today. I'm still numb from the phone . We had dinner and drinks together just last week. She was fine, happy, and so healthy. We laughed and laughed like we always do and talked about the past and planned things to do together soon and in the new year. I loved her. We were close like sisters, so she can't be really gone. I don't know when she'll come back, she must intend to come back. So much of her remains, she can't be really gone. Wiping my tears for my dear good friend.

Lifelong bonds with childhood friends are wonderful, but not always possible in this day and age. I have found that those friendships have taken a back seat for me because of my family, job, and a few moves through the years. Friendlessness makes one feel inadequate at times and that leads other issues in our lives and in our health.
It's difficult when we get older make new friends. We fear rejection. We fear being taken advantage of, and I could go on and on.
Asking a new acquantaince go for coffee or lunch has it's draw backs too. Will they think I'm hitting on them lol
Some vulnerability is required for friendship. We must trust and open up a little I feel to build friendships.
Friends help to keep our minds active, keep us young, and can make us laugh. To me friends are like taking vitamins. Remember the saying " have good friend one must be a good friend."

Have you ever set a goal to boost your mental health? Many prefer the term well being. I personally think of it as self-care.
Most people understand the goal of maintaining their physical health and preventing physical illness. Mental health is important to maintain, and can possibly prevent mental illness in some cases.
