HONEYSUCKLE

This honeysuckle appeared climbing a tree by my house.....there is honeysuckle growing on the fence of the vegetable garden, but this one is a volunteer. It's only about 12 feet from my house and I can see it from the window above my table.......it attracts a lot of hummingbirds..........The cherry tree is laden with ripe cherries and my grandaughter and I teamed up to pick some today......We hung some over our ears too. The strawberries are also laden and ripe......Looks like it's a good year for fruit.
We then got her ready for her end-of-school camp out at the beach and then she taught me the Cup-Song. It's a rhythmic, acoustic routine you do on a table with plastic drink-cups, while you sing a song....reminds me of the clapping patterns we did when I was a , where we would stand facing each other and clap each other's hand in a rhythm while singing songs.....sort of a dance.......
My and -in-law are away doing a mountain climbing marathon. They have been training for months....they did it last year too, but a week ago my was attacked by a huge while she was jogging and has a huge bruise and injury.......She decided to do the climb anyways......Here are some photos ......the backdrop of the flower is my most recent painting effort.....I'm gilding leaves I have pressed and glued on a painted canvas........

KIM JONG UN'S NEW MANSERVANT

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—As new details emerge from this week’s summit in Singapore, the White House has confirmed that Donald J. Trump unilaterally offered to let Kim Jong Un have Mike Pence as his personal manservant.
The offer reportedly came after Kim spoke glowingly to Trump about the Vice-President’s obsequiousness, sources said.
“Even by North Korean standards, Pence puts my toadies to shame,” Kim reportedly said.
Once the necessary paperwork is squared away, Pence could begin bowing and scraping in Pyongyang as early as next week.
Going forward, Pence’s duties as senior sycophant to Trump are expected to be performed by Representative Devin Nunes, Republican of California.
Although State Department insiders were taken by surprise by Trump’s offering of Pence, for whom the U.S. will receive nothing in return, the deal has been met with nearly universal approval.
“At least Trump didn’t give away much this time,” one diplomat said.

TRAUMATISING FOR LIFE

The recent news cycle reminded me of a paper I wrote for one of my Psychology courses...I chose to write about the UN Declaration Of The Rights Of The .......The first part was easy, a copy of the declaration itself and the history, the many leaders representing so many different viewpoints coming together for the protection of . It seemed to me, at the time a cause that would bring together disparate cultures. ......The critique was more difficult.....It took me a lot of thinking to reach a conclusion....an opinion on the function and usefulness of such an agreement...It seemed toothless in the sense that really had little recourse to demand their rights.....they were dependent on adults to represent them......to protect them......And that is what became the focus of my paper. We, as adults, have a vital and ethical role as protectors of the rights of , and one of those vital rights is their right to their family.......Taking from their family causes severe, life-long trauma. We have witnessed this in many situations....The Canadian Indian Residential schools is a prime example and became the basis of my paper.......I worked as a advocate most of my life....it's a habit that never goes away.
Back in the day, we didn't understand, but today we know. Ignorance cannot be our excuse anymore..........

CANADA- US PEACE TALKS

SINGAPORE (The Borowitz Report)—One day before his summit with Donald J. Trump, the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un, has offered to host peace talks between the United States and Canada.
Speaking to reporters at his hotel in Singapore, Kim said that the rising tensions between the North American neighbors were posing an “intolerable threat to world peace.”
In addition to offering to host U.S.-Canada talks in Pyongyang, Kim urged the immediate creation of a demilitarized zone along the border separating the two hostile nations.
“In exchange for Canadian Mounties agreeing to stand down on their side of the border, the United States, in turn, would dismantle its nuclear weapons,” Kim said.
Although stating that “North Korea stands ready and willing to be an honest broker” in peace talks between the two countries, he urged Trump to dial back the “inflammatory rhetoric” that he aimed at Canadians over the weekend.
“Violent language and threats have no place in international diplomacy,” Kim said.

I started hearing it creep into spoken dialogue on media about 10 years ago and at first it seemed like an anomaly.....a local dialect perhaps, but since then I have heard it with increasing frequency. For starters, the redundancy is peculiar...
People are saying "based off of" instead of "based on".....The movie is based off of a true story........It's kind of interesting, in a way, to be old enough to have watched the evolution of a language.....well, two languages.....We saw "regardless" pick up that annoying redundancy and become "irregardless" to the point of making it into Webster's.....same meaning......and we watched as "literally" acquired the opposite meaning as well as it's original meaning. well, maybe not the original meaning, but the one we were used to.
But off of?....I now hear even journalists using it.....my report is based off of.......I may live long enough to stop noticing every time.....at least now I accept it as a done deal......It doesn't annoy me anymore.....not as much as irregardless did.....LOL...
And that's based off of .....sounds like a barky little dog.....off of, off of...off of.....Well, maybe I am a little annoyed.

I Worried
I worried a lot. Will the garden grow, will the river
flow in the right direction, will the Earth turn
as it was taught and if not how shall
I correct it?
Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven,
can I do better?
Will I ever be able to sing,even the sparrow
can do it and I am, well,
hopeless.
Is my eyesight failing, or am I just imagining it,
am I going to get rheumatism,
lockjaw,dementia?
Finally I saw that worrying had come to nothing
and gave it up, and took my old body
and went out into the morning,
and sang.
