WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Making a major announcement at the Pentagon on Thursday, Vice-President Mike Pence said that the proposed United States Space Force was necessary to defend the U.S. from gay aliens.

“I stand before you today to say that this country is under attack from outer-space gays,” Pence told the military gathering. “Only Space Force can protect us from their unimaginable evil.”

Pence detailed a nightmare scenario in which “gay aliens by the thousands” land in the U.S. in “seemingly cute spacecraft” and “subvert life in America as we know it.”

“Let’s say, for example, that these gay aliens can assume human form,” he said. “What’s to stop them from infiltrating normal bakeries and baking cakes for gay weddings?”

“I’ll tell you what’s to stop them,” he said, pausing for dramatic effect. “Space Force.”

At the White House, CNN’s Jim Acosta asked the press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, how, exactly, Pence had developed his theory about the existence of gay aliens.

“No one is more qualified to talk about life on other planets than Mike Pence,” Sanders snapped.

Maxfield Parrish
Illustrator /Painter
Born: July 25, 1870
Maxfield Parrish was an American painter and illustrator active in the first half of the 20th century. He is known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealized neo-classical imagery. His career spanned fifty years and was wildly successful: his painting Daybreak is the most popular art print of the 20th century.
Maxfield Parrish was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to painter and etcher Stephen Parrish and Elizabeth Bancroft.[2] His given name was Frederick Parrish, but he later adopted Maxfield, his paternal grandmother's maiden name, as his middle, then finally as his professional name. He was raised in a Quaker society. As a he began drawing for his own amusement, showed talent, and his parents encouraged him. Between 1884 and 1886, his parents took Parrish to Europe, where he toured England, Italy, and France, was exposed to architecture and the paintings by the old masters, and studied at the Paris school of a Dr. Kornemann.

He attended the Haverford School and later studied architecture at Haverford College for two years beginning in 1888. To further his education in art, from 1892 to 1895 he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts under artists Robert Vonnoh and Thomas Pollock Anshutz. After graduating from the program, Parrish went to Annisquam, Massachusetts where he and his father shared a painting studio. A year later, with his father's encouragement, he attended the Drexel Institute of Art, Science & Industry.

SPINNING SILK

Our Harvest Festival is coming up in September and I always like participating by making something special for the hand-crafting section. I thought of the silk batt I came across recently while going through a bin......not enough for a big project, but it would be a challenge. I haven't spun silk for years......It's been quite hot lately and my house is so lovely and cool. So I gathered my tools, set up my wheel and started spinning.

I soon remembered why I haven't spun silk for a while.....In the past week, I had been working outside doing yard chores and my hands were a bit rough.....not so much that I had even noticed, but the silk noticed. Then I had to fiddle with my wheel, fine tuning it to deal with the much finer thread than the usual wool.......My wheel is not a high-tech machine and tuning it requires the use of a rubber band twisted around a hook.....also, the silk fibre is so long and self-clinging, it requires a very different technique......

When I finally managed to spin a satisfying amount of thread, it broke and the end disappeared into the thread on the spool. I had forgotten about that possibility. It was late by that time and after spending an hour trying to find the end of the thread, I gave up and went to bed. This morning, with renewed patience, I managed to finally untangle the spool and skeined it for dying. I still have a lot to spin, but I already feel like a veteran again and I'm confident.

I have been watching a patch of Goldenrod that is getting close to blooming. The mature buds give a rich golden colour and silk takes colour best of all the fibres. So, by next week, I will have skeins of golden silk. I'm not sure exactly what I will make, but I will probably crochet it, as silk is not elastic like wool, so it doesn't knit up well......I will explore my options once I know what I have....make some samples........I'm off to check how the goldenrod are progressing.

Look at them.....the prince and princess of some Dystopian empire..This lovely couple approved this photo.....they like it.....they think it represents them accurately.......If I wanted to paint a picture of artificiality, White privilege takers, lack of integrity, dishonesty, this is what I would paint ....It was taken after they got back from Africa where they murdered large, endangered animals for pleasure....It's incredible that these grotesque buffoons represent success to the youngsters of America......Look at them.

Some friends who are sailing in the Mediterranean posted these photos of Montenegro in the last week........I thought some of you might be interested............They said that there are a lot of tourists. They said that in Croatia, the government is taking advantage of tourists, putting a high price on every little move they make, but in Montenegro, they are left alone to explore.......

i don't know the story behind the big boat with all the people jumping into the water, but it comes into the bay every day and everyone calls it the "Titanic"........LOL

Maybe if we started calling it Unborn Baby Earth instead of Mother Earth, Republicans would care more about it's well being...
