I was in the garden just now to pick some raspberries and salad makings.....the Sunflower plants are 8 ft. tall and look so cool looking up.......thought you might like to see them too.........They have a long way to go before they bloom.......

KD LANG SINGS HALLELUJAH

Leonard Cohen's novel "Beautiful Losers" carried me over the threshold into adulthood.......I had been reading his love poems through my years and swooned when I saw him read them live in Montreal ......That was before he started putting his poems to music.......poems like Suzanne.......I was thrilled when his first album came out and listened to it constantly.....It drove my mother mad....she once took one of his records off the turntable, marched to the door and threw it like a Frisbee across the yard, over the garage and into the back-lane, where it shattered.......She gave me money for a new one if I promised to only it on the portable in my room.......I preferred my Father's souped up stereo.....but alas.........
The first time I saw KD Lang live was in 1985.....She came bouncing onto the stage in bright red ankle-high Converse and a thrift-store wedding dress replete with veil........She had a lot of energy and a beautiful natural voice that rang true........but I didn't like her enough to her buy albums. Next time I saw her live was the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in 20 in Vancouver......That time she came on the stage in a more dignified manner and was wearing a white suit........She sang Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah......and she was magnificent.......and, I think, pretty intimidated by the crowd and the TV cameras beaming her across the world.
She had sung that song before.......many times, and Leonard Cohen, when he heard her sing his song at the 2005 Junos, where he won an award....he said that although, there were then at least 300 covers of Hallelujah, KD's performance was his favourite. " We can lay that song to rest now, it's really been done to it's ultimate, blissful state of perfection."
I know, this blog is perhaps too Canadian for most of this crew, but there you go........KD Lang singing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah..it's a great pleasure to listen to.....my favourite is the 2005 Juno Awards performance..............I listen with my headphones......goosebumps.....

PINK SKY AT NIGHT SAILOR'S DELIGHT

This is the sort of evening that is perfect for a sail, but, alas, my sailor had to return to the USA......He can't figure out how to stay in Canada.........I am very sorry to see him go......He not only owns an awesome sailboat, he knows how to be silent.......A winning combination in my books.
A couple of years ago I came across a group of women walking in my neighborhood.....They are women I know. I know them well enough to know they talk a lot...They are small-talk motor-mouths....they never run out of nothing to say. They conferred among themselves. They asked me to join their walking group.....I said..."I would like to walk with you, but I don't want to talk, and I think you would expect me to talk." They looked at each other and told me that yes, that is definitely a requirement......LOL.......I don't do small-talk....I am bored and horrified by small-talk.......I once climbed out a bathroom window at a party to get away from it......I might have had a few tokes and/or drinks......I may be Autistic........
Anyways.....My American sailor friend is an excellent conversationalist.....and I love me a good conversation.....but chatter-chatter small talk is anathema to me....We sailed in silence, listening to the music of the ambient sounds....of the water along the hull as we move through it....of a flock of ducks taking off, of seals barking and moaning, salmon leaping, whales blowing........wind in the sails, rigging creaking, hardware tapping........staring at the beauty around...........

Just took these out the window of my studio.......a car pulled up in the driveway and he disappeared.......He hasn't eaten any plants on the deck yet, but it wouldn't surprise me...........Some of them are bold and come right up on people's decks, but usually only happens if they hand-feed them sweet treats like apples and carrots.One Summer I started putting my cat's food out on the deck and ended up with a whole family of Raccoons......

My DIL knows me well. She sent me some photos of Ieaves that someone had crocheted on or embroidered. I did have some pressed Salal leaves from last Fall that I hadn't used yet.....and I also found these Broom pods......This is what I did .....

Yesterday, Trump said "I never get insulted......I've learned not to get insulted"......... is a lack of self-awareness so great it cannot fail to illustrate the depths of his dishonesty.......a glaringly obvious neurosis......a psychological illness makes him totally unfit for office.......an existential threat to America and the world.........
The fact his followers don't recognize his madness makes me wonder about their mental health, which always brings me to the edge of the cliff, beyond which stretches the wide chasm is Faith......... strange border-land beyond which stretches the landscape of madness...An imaginary landscape depends on shared madness for corroboration......
Every day we witness how the religious right is confirming their conviction Faith can be applied outside the borders of religion and into the real world............They seem to think anything they agree is reality, is reality...just like it says in ..Hebrews -1.....Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen........I can't imagine anything more dangerous if taken out of context and used as a maxim.........it makes willful ignorance a virtue.....

SAINT FRANCIS AND THE WILD ROSE

St. Francis came for a visit last night and expressed his grief for the animal life on the Earth......and the horrific greed of Humans for allowing convenience and entertainment to harden our hearts .....to alienate us from our beloved allies and fellow dwellers of the Earth. He says we have corrupted the value of Human life to such a degree it has eclipsed reason to the point we don't recognize Humanity is replacing life with stuff......Sanctity of Life has become sanctity of Human life the expense of other life forms are necessary for those very Humans......To make laws based on the possible suffering of potential Humans who haven't developed a nervous system yet, on a planet is choking and gasping from being overcrowded with Humans and completely discount and ignore the suffering of full-grown animals being tortured in feed-lots and mass auto-butchering plants in order to sustain the Humans.......
He said unless Humans wake up from their greed for stuff is only advantageous to Humans, there will be a mass extinction on Earth.......... St Francis says when he walked naked out of his luxurious mansion to denounce Human greed and corruption and to frolic with his animal friends, he could not have imagined how far Humans could fall in their idiotic campaign of negligence .....
