ONE FOGGY DAY...

One very foggy October morning in 74, I rowed my 16ft plywood dory to a neighbouring bay to visit afriend. I was very pregnant with my and rowing was awkward.....You know, how you lift the oars and lean forward, pushing the oars, extending your arms., then you lean back as you pull the oars through the water.....but when you are very pregnant, your belly is in the way and so the strokes are much shorter than usual....Every time I went rowing my stroke was shorter.....
The fog, instead of lifting in the morning sun, was getting denser and heavier, until I couldn't see more than 6 ft.ahead.....The tide was high and the shore was steep granite bluff......I went closer to the familiar shore-line so I could tell where I was.....it's easy to stray in those conditions. It was so foggy seagulls were only visible for one wing-beat. Appearing and disappearing into the grey blanket.
Then I saw something in the water.....appearing and disappearing at the blurry edge of visibility.......a Human hand ....it was sticking up vertically out of the water....then
disappearing under the surface.....over and over......I just stared, trying to see clearly.....then I heard/felt it under my boat and then a splashing and a scraping and huffing sound on the rock.... I pulled towards the sound and there was a huge otter perched on the rock. She was shaking off the water like a dog, standing on her hind and had her human-like hands close to her face..........I laughed in relief.....for a split second I thought someone was drowning.....I had once rescued a man near that very spot who had brought his large, untrained into his canoe and the had chased a sea-gull that flew by........

FACEBOOK STALKER

Several days ago I had a message on FB Messenger from a man who said he was going to be on this island for a couple of days, suggesting we get together and gave his phone#. Now, the last time I laid eyes on this guy was in 1969, but I had accepted him as a "friend" several years ago because his sister was my brother's wife and we had a nephew in common.
Now, Messenger tells you when a message has been read, so he knew I had chosen not to respond. He grew up in the same town as I did, but is at least 5 years younger. I thought it was odd that he would just send me this message to meet after 50 years.....Then my told me that he phoned her on her home phone, introduced himself and proceeded to talk to her in a very friendly manner, asking her how I was doing and where I lived and asked for my phone #.....and she gave it to him......(I have instructed her never to do that again). I have the same surname as his sister and I'm in the book, but my has a different surname......why does he phone her instead of me?
He told my that his sister gave him the number......but she also knows my number......so does our nephew.......He also told her that he had been on the island 5 years ago and gone to my house and knocked on my door, but I wasn't home. Then I remembered several people had told me 5 years ago that a man who said he was family was asking around about where I lived.
So he phoned me today, wanting to come over or meet somewhere and I blew him off..... He didn't seem to have any clue how creepy he was..After i hung up, I was in tears.......Geezz......what is wrong with people that they can't imagine what effect their creepy-ass stalker-like behaviour might have on a woman.......Geez!!!!

I got a nice surprise at the bank today. I cashed my royalty cheque from an American film production company....the Canadian dollar is now .76th of a US dollar.....for those of you who keep telling me to stay out of US politics because I don't have a stake in the game........My take-home pay-out was a lot bigger than the cheque amount.....

Trump Signs Executive Order Giving Him Control of Weather
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what some congressional Democrats are calling a flagrant example of Presidential overreach, Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order giving him total control of the weather.
Under the terms of the order, Trump would assume the unilateral power to create all meteorological conditions, including but not limited to hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, hail, sleet, and wintry mix.
After signing the order, a beaming Trump pronounced “total victory” over the weather, which he called “the enemy of the people.”
“I have been treated very unfairly the weather,” Trump said. “The weather is a horrible person.”
On Fox News, Sean Hannity praised Trump’s decision to seize control of the weather and compared it favorably to former President Barack Obama’s weather policy, which he called “a trainwreck.”
“Obama just let the weather run wild,” Hannity said.
Although Trump’s executive order is certain to face legal challenges, White House sources indicated the President was ready to press forward with an additional order giving him dominion over all living things, the planets, and the stars

I spent years in therapy writing masses of journals. Gratitude was a twice daily exercise that I practiced faithfully. I created a symbol for this, a shortcut....I searched my subconscious and remembered a childhood wonder ...a heart-lightening visual of laying on the river-bank and looking up into the blue-blooming Hare-Bells.....and Paramahansa Yogananda saying..." I make my heart a wilderness, that the wildflowers of thy love will blossom there."........So now, I can bring that sky-lit blue into my mind and I'm flooded with gratitude.....

Garlic and Savoury Butter.....

My is an avid gardener.....He gives a lot of produce and yesterday was no exception.......I went home with 2 bulging bags of magnificent produce. He included several Elephant Garlic bulbs......they are milder than the garlic in the stores.....and much bigger. He also picked an herb called Savoury. I rarely use it, so I declined, but he strongly suggested I chop it finely and several cloves of the garlic and simmer them up in some butter and serve it over steamed veggies.....Scarlet Runner beans, new potatoes, baby Summer Squash, baby carrots.......I took a few photos of the garden.....The butter was the perfect touch.....
