MY PESTO IS THE BESTO

I just made some amazing Pesto in my new "Bullet" blender......I picked Basil,young Kale, Parsley, a bit of Marjoram and Garlic in the garden and whizzed it up with a tiny bit of water, Olive oil and a handful of walnuts.........and salt. Tastes so fresh and is a gorgeous green colour.....I ate it on Rotini with freshly grated Parmesan and added a few grape-Tomatoes for colour.......I should have taken a photo, but I was too hungry to think about that........

So I was thinking about how much we miss the Summer Music Festivals and our Fall Fair. I always participate in the Fall Fair....I was remembering how much fun it was to bring my Grands and make a day of it........and then I remembered the year my Grandaughter was 5 and she made friends with a girl not much older than her who was face-painting at her mom's booth.......I think she requested to be a cat......she loves cats.......Anyways, this is what she ended up with.....I laughed till I cried......

I managed to get through the speeches without throwing up in my popcorn, but it was close .....My nausea was interspersed with confusion and laughter.....Confusion because I kept thinking we must be watching either a podcast from North Korea or an SNL sketch.......and laughter because of the pumped-up drama and the over-the-top nationalism.......Seriously......all the stars-and-stripes were making me bilious......
Donald Junior was especially hilarious.......definitely SNL material.....I could just imagine him practicing his speech in front of the mirror while Galfoyle directed, wearing her black rubber suit and cracking a whip.......
Telling lies and rousing up fear and hatred in front of a wall of American flags.....Yup, true to form for Trumpists........

Would you come to the USA tomorrow if you were given a visa to legally live and work there?
I live in London, UK, and I visit the USA fairly regularly, travelling around quite a bit. I love the buzz of the big cities, the spectacular scenery and the sheer size of the place.
The people are mostly incredibly warm and friendly. But live there? Never.
Two things are absolutely terrifying and number one, of course, is the lack of a universal healthcare system. Being in America feels like visiting Victorian England in a time machine, where the privileged few can receive luxurious treatment but everyone else has to keep up the payments, living with the threat of unemployment or bankruptcy. The notion that my healthcare could depend on the whim of an insurance company is shocking.
Second is the gun culture. The unspoken presence of so many weapons is not reassuring to non-Americans, but deeply unnerving. A couple of years ago, I was staying in LA. One morning, the gas station down the road where I usually filled up, was cordoned off. I saw on the TV news that evening that two groups of had a bit of a swaggering confrontation at the pumps, as do. In the UK, it would have been a bit of loud-mouthed taunting, probably ending with a bloody nose, but somebody pulled a gun. It's the casual, spontaneous fallback to weaponry over trivial issues that makes me yearn for the comparative safety of the UK (Note: if you're not actually affiliated with a street gang in one of a handful of high-risk areas, the much-publicised "knife crime" is virtually unknown for us ordinary folk).
And lastly, the oppressive, suffocating presence of religion – or at least, religiosity – everywhere. That would drive me nuts.
I'll still visit the USA, but I'm always glad to get back home in the UK.

FOREVER TRUMP......

Just wondering if you Americans can enlighten me on the election laws of your country, because I saw something yesterday, that I have seen before, and I just can't imagine what it could mean.....
Trump sent out a Tweet that was a video that said "TRUMP 2020", which recedes into the distance to be replaced with a sign that says "TRUMP 2024", replaced by "TRUMP 2028"....and so on.....into the next century and then "TRUMP FOREVER"
Obviously, that can't happen, so why would he post that?.....He didn't create the ad himself......Who created it and why?
The most puzzling aspect for me is why no one i talking about it.......I'm obviously missing something......Am I the only one who thinks that's insane and disturbing?..
