HOW INTELLIGENT ARE YOU?

One of the ways intelligence is measured is by IQ tests. Mensa membership is based on how high a score one achieves on their test. How accurate are they? I read this:

"IQ tests are misleading because they do not accurately reflect intelligence, according to a study which found that a minimum of three different exams are needed to measure someone's brainpower."

I have done well on IQ tests but honestly, I feel they are biased. I feel that someone who didn't get exposed to certain things would do poorly, regardless of how smart they are. What do you think?

The first photo shows a quote that I love. I believe it to be very accurate. What about you?

PLEASE HELP ME CONDUCT AN EXPERIMENT!

I read Maggie's blog about a sweet old lady. She happened to be a serial killer. Maisie said her eyes looked creepy. I thought she looked like anyone's grandma. It got me curious. Did she see the woman's eyes as creepy because she knew what that woman had done? Can you tell who is dangerous by looking at their pics? Let's see if you can. Look at these pics and tell me who are killers. I want to see how this goes. I won't give the answers right away because I want to see how many people get them right.

IF you recognize any of them, PLEASE don't let others know or it will ruin the experiment. There are 10 pics you should see. If SFF plays the usual games and you see less, come back and check to make sure you see all 10. Let's hear which ones you believe are pictures of killers.

DO YOU THINK MEN CHEAT MORE THAN WOMEN?

Men will be men, they say. However, what about women? Well it turns out, as this article stated:

"Women cheat just as much as men, and their affairs are more dangerous. An Indiana University study shows that men and women cheat at the same rate. But "the reasons the sexes cheat are different," says Orlando. He explains women are more likely to cheat for emotional satisfaction."

They say that being positive can make good things happen. Do you believe that? Are you a positive thinker? I would like to say I am but truthfully, I have had too many good things go sour. I think when I was younger, I was more optimistic.

I have had issues with my voice. It isn't as strong as it used to be. The ENT doctor checked and it seems my voice needs a rest. He ordered me to stay quiet, as in NO TALKING, for 10 days. He said I can pick when to start and given things that are coming up, I will most likely start late next week. Now this is quite the challenge for me. I talk on the phone with friends for hours. How will I do it? My sister thinks it's great that I won't say a word for 10 days.

IS THERE SUCH A THING AS TOO HONEST?

I read an interesting article about "pathologicial honesty". I am an upfront person but I must confess that I am not honest to a fault. If someone is very close to me, I will give them my honest feelings. If someone isn't quite as near to me, I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings if I could avoid it. What about you?

Here is part of the article:

"As the name suggests, PathologicalHonesty is the condition of being "honest to a fault". Most of us were originally taught that "honesty is the best policy" yet actual life experience leads us to the conclusion that too much of anything is seldom a good thing. Some have suggested that "innocent" or "white" lies, in fact, provide a vitally needed social lubricant. Consider the converse approach--PathologicalHonesty--in the following example:

"Honey, does this dress make me look fat?"

"Yes or Without a doubt. or To the extent that anyone might be said to be fat, definitely true."

How about: "It's not the dress, hon"

Expected outcome of the above: sleeping alone for unspecified time period.. or at least long enough to reflect seriously on the wisdom of indulging a penchant for PathologicalHonesty indiscriminately in social situations.

If someone can be "faulted" for being honest, surely the people that interact with the "honest to a fault" person should also be faulted for faulting the honest, and even coming up with the very concept that there can be "pathological honesty". After all, he who is without fault should throw the first stone."

WHAT MAKES SOMEONE A FRIEND?

I was talking to a guy on the phone. I considered him a friend of mine and I still do. Something came up in a conversation and he said he considered me an acquaintance. I was shocked and hurt. He is long distance but has a flat rate plan. He calls me usually about once a week, sometimes a bit more or less. Usually we talk for 2 hours. I have told him things I would only tell friends and he has told me personal things too.

When this came up, I asked him what would make me a friend. He said a friend is someone who he would give up his life for. He would protect that friend even at personal risk to his safety. He said he had some friends like that, ones who had been friends with him for over 40 years. During the conversation, he said he suddenly realized he would risk his life for me. He said that perhaps he should be calling those friends his best friends and me his friend. I should add we have only chatted for several months but as I said, I do consider him a friend.

Do I let someone be a friend too easily? Do you have to risk your life for someone to be your friend? What do you think?

WHAT MOTTO DO YOU LIVE BY?

An online defintion for motto: " a short sentence or phrase chosen as encapsulating the beliefs or ideals guiding an individual, family, or institution". If you had to pick just one motto for yourself, what would it be and why? Mine would be "live and let live". I firmly believe that anyone should be free to do as they wish as long as nobody gets hurt.

I don't know if I should mention this or not but I belong to a virtual world and met this woman. We talked and it turned out her had been in a terrible car accident. They won a lawsuit so money wasn't an issue. However, it led to the breakup of her marriage. This woman had to watch the at all times to ensure he didn't have any reaction to pills he took. However, she still had sexual desires.

She would go on the site with him in the same room, have virtual sex and touch herself. She knew it aroused her . He is 18 years old. She thought it was fine. She also bathed him as did other females in the family. Again, there is enough money for them to have others do it but she said her prefers when she does it. I said that we can't be friends. She thought I was being judgmental.

I said I believe in "live and let live" as long as nobody got hurt. Based on my experience with talking to male . I am not convinced it hasn't hurt her and his relationship with other women. For that reason, my motto didn't apply. Was I wrong? She still writes me to say hello at times and it is always polite. I just don't wish to be her friend.
