I just heard about a woman kidnapped from her great grandson:

"An 86-year-old woman who was kidnapped and driven for hundreds of miles in her own trunk is speaking out about the incident.

Hazel Abel is back home safe in Kennewick, Washington, after police said her own great-grandson and two friends kidnapped her and drove her all the way to the Portland area."

Luckily for her she escaped and went into a store and got help. They had planned to kill her. He had told his friends she was "an easy mark", which is why they kidnapped her. I have no or grandkids and when I read things like this, I am relieved. What is this world coming to?

INSPIRED BY MYSEEK'S POST

I was thinking about men versus women, thanks to MySeek's post. It reminded me of guys I know that said that women can mulitask but that men have trouble with it. Men do you agree with that?

Women are strong, independent and intelligent. Of course that isn't true of all women, just like not all men can fix things. Some men are threatened by intelligent woman and others want that in their significant other. A truly bright guy would appreciate that quality while a lesser guy would be threatened.

Have a great weekend!!!

CAN THERE BE TOO MANY CHOICES?

Have you ever been shopping for an item and instead of 1 or 2 choices, there seemed to be an endless amount to choose from? I discovered that years ago for a feminine item and it keeps happening to me and to those I know. About 15 years ago, when I needed a bed, I bought the same type that my family always bought. I knew the model's name and just asked for it, compared prices and bought it. It was nice and easy. Now there are literally 50 choices of that same model with names associated with each. I am not looking for a new bed but someone I know is and she has no idea which to buy. Can there be too many choices? Absolutely, in my opinion. I prefer the old days. What about you?

WHO WOULD YOU SWITCH PLACES WITH?

If you could have switched places with anyone, would you have and whose life would you have liked to live? It could be someone from your personal life or a famous person. I think that I would have liked to have lived Katharine Hepburn's life. I always admired her, loved her acting and there was always a twinkle in her eyes. She had a a fascinating life. Here is info about her on Wikipedia:

Katharine Houghton Hepburn (May 12, 1907 – June 29, 2003) was an American actress. Known for her fierce independence and spirited personality, Hepburn was a leading lady in Hollywood for more than 60 years. She appeared in a range of genres, from screwball comedy to literary drama, and she received four Academy Awards for Best Actress—a record for any performer. In 1999, Hepburn was named by the American Film Institute as the greatest female star of Classic Hollywood Cinema.

Raised in Connecticut by wealthy, progressive parents, Hepburn began to act while studying at Bryn Mawr College. After four years in the theatre, favorable reviews of her work on Broadway brought her to the attention of Hollywood. Her early years in the film industry were marked with success, including an Academy Award for her third picture, Morning Glory (1933), but this was followed by a series of commercial failures which led her to be labeled "box office poison" in 1938. Hepburn masterminded her own comeback, buying out her contract with RKO Radio Pictures and acquiring the film rights to The Philadelphia Story, which she sold on the condition that she be the star. In the 1940s, she was contracted to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where her career focused on an alliance with Spencer Tracy. The screen-partnership spanned 25 years and produced nine movies.

Hepburn challenged herself in the latter half of her life, as she regularly appeared in Shakespearean stage productions and tackled a range of literary roles. She found a niche playing middle-aged spinsters, such as in The African Queen (1951), a persona the public embraced. Three more Oscars came for her work in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), The Lion in Winter (196, and On Golden Pond (1981). In the 1970s, she began appearing in television films, which became the focus of her career in later life. She remained active into old age, making her final screen appearance in 1994 at the age of 87. After a period of inactivity and ill health, Hepburn died in 2003 at the age of 96.

Hepburn famously shunned the Hollywood publicity machine and refused to conform to society's expectations of women. She was outspoken, assertive, athletic, and wore trousers before it was fashionable for women to do so. She married once, as a young woman, but thereafter lived independently. A 26-year affair with her co-star Spencer Tracy was hidden from the public. With her unconventional lifestyle and the independent characters she brought to the screen, Hepburn epitomized the "modern woman" in the 20th-century United States and is remembered as an important cultural figure.

THIS IS A FIRST FOR ME - I'VE BEEN BLOCKED

I have been blocked from reading Ranger's blog. I am only announcing it since if he insults me again on his Phyllis Diller post, I won't be responding due to being blocked. It is rather sad since he seems like he has 2 parts to his personality. In one post he complimented me and RosesLady and said he'd like to add us as friends. He then was very nasty when it came to a post someone put up about gay marriages. RosesLady said she was shocked at seeing such a nasty side to him. He then insulted her. After that, he did the same to me on that post, when I defended a gay couple's right to marry.

I did say it sounded very racist what he wrote in his Phyllis Diller post. I gave him the chance to clarify, hoping I was mistaken. Sadly I was not. He brought up about black guys dominating basketball, implying I would feel it is a racist comment. I don't consider it being racist to say that black guys dominate basketball if that is the case. I would have no issue with him saying Jewish comedians dominated comedy if that was the case. What I objected to was him making it sound like Jews were on a mission to keep out all non Jews from the comedy scene and he said other fields later on. I can't copy and paste since I am blocked. Anyhow, that to me was a racist comment. Everyone is free to pursue their dreams and if a non Jewish comedian or Jewish comedian couldn't compete with the rest, it is because they lacked the talent needed to make it.

Ranger went on to say I am not qualified to teach anything and that I go around here looking for people to fight with. I don't feel that is the case. First of all, I won't go into degrees I've earned or other credentials I have, to prove he is wrong. However, I will state that he doesn't know what he is talking about. Do I ever disagree with what is said? Absolutely. Isn't that what a blog is about? Can one respect someone they disagree with? YES. Rae is a perfect example and I hope she's ok with me saying her name here. She had one post that we didn't see eye-to-eye. She had no malicious intent and despite our differences, it didn't affect our common respect for the other. There are others here like Rentier who keeps referring to the swastika incident, where I called him out for using "nice swastika" I believe it was. Yes, he did that to stir the pot and so yes, I did have issues with him using it. Getting along does not mean staying quiet when one goes too far. I knew making that comment on Ranger's post might cause an issue but I was so disturbed by what he wrote, I couldn't hold back.

I had a good friend on the virtual site I belong to. At least I thought she was a good friend. I have been there for her a lot. She has been through many relationships there. Anyhow, her fiancé wrote a novel that has not been published. It is a murder mystery so I told him about my sexual murder mystery story. He knows it is erotica and that I don't pussy foot around (pun intended). I use very explicit words. Anyhow, he said he would like to check it out so I told him the title and my pen name . I then asked him if he wanted me to send him a free copy. He said yes. He gave me his e-mail address and I sent it to him. Next thing I know, my so-called friend sent me a nasty message saying something like why did I send him one of my "dirty stories"? I told her it was a gesture of friendship and because he wrote a murder mystery. I have sent many people free stories on that site as a token of my friendship, just like I have received gifts. I said I am not after him and in fact have a new boyfriend there, as I told her fiance too. She said she knows I am not making a play for him so what exactly is her problem?

For 2 days the fiancé tried to convince her to get over it. At one point, I was told to wait while he tries to get through to her. I got fed up and couldn't take it anymore. Then she removed me from her friend's list. I wrote her a heartfelt message today and in return, she wrote that if I write her about this again, I will be put to ignore. I put her to ignore and she is no longer a friend. This is a 1st for me. I take friendship very seriously.

What do you think?

I can't wait until dinner. We are having a BBQ for family only. My boyfriend is too busy working, unfortunately. We haven't had one for 2 years and I have to admit, I love steak and hot dogs on the BBQ. Even a baked potato tastes better on it. I will eat some of it today and the rest tomorrow. Call it a Canada Day belated celebration!!!

Happy 4th of July to my American friends!!!

It has been a busy time for me. I discovered another way to earn money, at least I hope so. A friend I know told me he is doing work on a cam and getting paid well and that I can become an agent. So, I have been busy advertising to get webcam models to join. As a Canadian, there were problems setting up my account. Americans always make it hard on us poor Canadians. I thought you like us. Somebody interviewed me due to my being an author too. I want to earn money so I can move to Hawaii and sip Mai Tais or is that Pina Coladas? lol

Anyone care to give me an update? What have I missed? I saw it was Pat's birthday when I was speaking to a friend on FB about the job, to get his advise. I hope she saw the well wishes I sent her as soon as I found out. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAT.

A big HELLO is everyone!!!

INSURANCE NIGHTMARE

I know I haven't been around lately. We celebrated our mother's 90th birthday, I had some more health appointments which turned out well, and just when I thought I would be on here more, I got my car insurance renewal. I don't know how it is for other countries, but in Ontario, they made major modifications in June. To top it off, my insurance company totally changed their rating system and despite no accidents, I was downgraded. My insurance was literally raised by about 75%. I thought it was an error but it wasn't. The broker checked and they actually thought I would pay it. There was no way I would. I would sooner stop driving.

I got my driver's license called a G2 in 2010 (G1 I got earlier but that isn't taken into account in Ontario) so it's been only 6 years since they consider my history. That is why their change in ratings affected me greatly. Since that time I have spent my days shopping around and calling insurance companies and brokers. I haven't been enjoying myself. I think I found one but we'll see what happens. I had hoped for a decrease this year but that isn't happening. If this one goes through, it isn't significantly more expensive so I can live with it.

Have you had fun times concerning insurance companies? Tell us all about it.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!
