These pictures were all taken in Venice. Some were while we were on the Vaporetto, their waterbus system. It's an interesting mode of transportation. Sure beats the subway/metro/The Tube. Some were taken from our cruise ship, as it was headed to being docked.

BRUCE JENNER CONFIRMS TRANSITION TO A WOMAN

I'm sorry about having a 4th post today. I'll probably take the weekend off (I hope). I just heard about Bruce Jenner becoming a woman. What do you think about that?

I believe that it must be difficult to live a lie. I can't say I understand how it feels to be trapped in the wrong body but I have empathy for those that do. I admire his bravery at coming out about it. The only thing that bothers me is did his wives (he's had 3) know? It sounds like Kris knew he liked dressing as a woman but wanting to be a woman is different.

I have to add that I'm glad his family is so supportive. It's easy to be there for the good times but more important to be there for the harder times.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE BEATLES SONG?

After doing the post about Elvis, I thought about The Beatles. Some of their music was about drugs, but I had no idea at the time. My favorite song of theirs was "Hey Jude" but I liked many others. John Lennon wrote "Imagine", and that was definitely one of their best hits.

What's your favorite Beatles song? Did you like them? Who was your favorite Beatle? Personally I haven't enjoyed watching Paul McCartney's recent performances on TV. What about you?

ELVIS PRESLEY - WERE YOU A FAN?

Were you a big Elvis fan? If you were, I have some good news for you. There is a new exhibit in Las Vegas, devoted to him. From the article:

"Graceland Presents ELVIS" is housed at the same hotel where the musical icon performed hundreds of shows during his tenure on the Las Vegas Strip. According to the exhibit's website, fans will be able to experience Presley's entire life, from his boyhood in Mississippi to his Hollywood days, national tours, and more. They'll also be able to see hundreds of artifacts that have never been displayed outside of Presley's estate.

Did you enjoy listening to his music or watching his movies? I enjoyed his movies, after all he was a great looking guy. His music was good too but I can't say I was a big fan.

BE HONEST, HAVE YOU OR DO YOU WATCH SOAP OPERAS (INCLUDING NIGHTTIME ONES LIKE DALLAS)?

When I was young, I remember a friend of me used to watch All My . I gave it a try, it was during the time of Tara and Phil and Chuck, and was hooked. 1964 - 1969 I watched what many consider the first nighttime soap opera, Peyton Place. That's when we got to see Mia Farrow and Ryan O'Neal and their continuing saga. Later on, I added a ton of soaps to my schedule. General Hospital (of course I saw the wedding of Luke and Laura, which Liz Taylor was a guest star on), Young and the Restless (where David Hasselhoff played Snapper Foster), Bold and the Beautiful (from day 1) and others. I loved Dynasty and Dallas (I watch the new version of Dallas) and more.

Do you watch any soap operas, daytime or nighttime ones? Nighttime ones are often referred to as continuing dramas, but in any real sense, they ARE soap operas.

For the record, the Daytime Emmys 2015 are on the POP Network this Sunday and I can't get it on my cable. I'm not very happy about that.

THE PUNISHMENT SHOULD FIT THE CRIME

Now, I've heard everything. I just read:

"A US fugitive who escaped from a prison nearly four decades ago has turned himself in because he needs a doctor."

My first thoughts were, he must have been an escaped murderer or something along those lines. A fair assumption, right? No, he never killed or tried to kill anyone. So what did this escapee do? He stole 2 TV sets. Well that makes sense. Had he stolen 1 TV, that is petty theft, but 2 TV sets, lock him up and throw away the key. He got 8 years in prison for that horrible crime.

I'm disgusted by all the money spent to lock up a "hardened" criminal like him and others. Now that he's turned himself in, they have to make sure he finishes his sentence. I'm being sarcastic. Let the poor man live his life in peace and not on the run.

There is something seriously wrong with the criminal system. What do you think?

INSURANCE IS THE BIGGEST SCAM

I have led too sheltered a life, it seems. I just found out today that with insurance, there is no point in making a claim unless it's HUGE. Otherwise, even if refused, it can actually hurt you. We had a bad 5 years. We had a flood and we had a leaking ceiling. This month, we had a freezer issue that required throwing out all our food. The claim was rejected but because we even called them, the insurance that was about to start shortly, was cancelled by the insurance company. We don't know what to do. They said we had 3 claims in 3 years so it's cancelled. They are wrong since the flood was 2010 and the leaking ceiling 2011. Regardless, we are worried since we do need home insurance.

What's the point of insurance for anything but something major, when minor (relatively) issues won't be covered or can make one lose their insurance coverage?

DO YOU LIKE WATCHING/PLAYING SPORTS?

I grew up in Montreal, Quebec. It was written in my birth certificate that I must watch hockey. No, not really, but I did grow up being a Montreal Canadiens (Hab) fan. I wrote a fan letter to Ken Dryden when I was in high school. He was their goalie and he did great. He never answered but that's life. In recent years, I haven't really watched hockey, I moved to Toronto and lost interest.

Do you watch sports and if so, which ones? Did/do you have a partner that watches sports all day Sundays and you're bored? Admit it.

HOUSEHOLD CHORES - A WOMAN'S JOB?

I was quite surprised several years ago. My uncle and aunt stayed at our house for a visit and she did everything for him. She waited on him hand and foot and I was disgusted. Now in all fairness, it did seem to work for them. She seemed happy taking care of him and he seemed happy being pampered. My dad, on the other hand, always helped my mom. He definitely did his half and she did hers. I guess that's why I believe that each should do their fair share. What do you think ?

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MAIL-ORDER BRIDES?

I was just reading how big the mail-order brides business really is. This is a paragraph from an article on the subject:

'The advent of globalization and the ubiquity of online dating has set the stage for new-age mail-order bride companies to gain unprecedented popularity. According to market research firm Experian Marketing Services, the top 10 premium international dating sites drew 12.2 million visits in March. That’s a 29% uptick from March of last year — a huge increase compared to the rest of the relatively stagnant online dating industry. In March, AnastasiaDate was the 29th most popular online dating service period, in a category of 1,400 sites. And the company believes there’s room for expansion. “I think there’s a lot of pent-up demand,” says Chief Strategy Officer Mark Brooks. “People are realizing that there’s a bigger world than Match.com'.

What do you think of mail-order brides? Is that a good way to find a wife? Why aren't there mail-order grooms? Perhaps I should start that.
