DO YOU MAKE A BIG THING ABOUT YOUR BIRTHDAY?

When I was younger, my mother didn't make a big fuss about our birthdays. The only exception was when I turned 11. I had a surprise party organized by my sister and it was fun. As I've gotten older, I think because I'm not married and have no , I do care about my birthday. It's the only day all year that I feel special. I have to admit that my boyfriend has been pretty good in recent years about Valentine's Day and somewhat about the anniversary of our first date. So, it is a BIT less important to me than it used to be but only a bit. Also, I feel that there are so many bad things going on in the world today so if there's a good reason to celebrate, why not? I should add that I do make a fuss about my friends and family's birthdays.

So, do you make a big deal about your birthday? Anniversary? Mother's Day/Father's Day?

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. I have been putting up more of my books and you'd be surprised how much work is involved. There are too many formats needed to upload. I still have a ton to do and if I spend all my time here, I'm losing money. That said, I don't want to put all my erotica up at one time so I may be back here like before.

WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE HOLLYWOOD PIN UP GIRL?

Hollywood Pin Up Girls:

The term pin up girl was first used in the early 1940's. The now famous pin up girl images were originally published in magazines, newspapers, calendars and postcards. As they became more popular, pin up girl posters such as the one of Betty Grable were mass produced. This famous print of Betty Grable was taken in 1943 by Frank Powolny. 5 million copies of this print were distributed to GI's during WWII.

In my post about Once Is Not Enough, several people said they'd like to go to Italy again, myself included. I just went last year so I won't be going any time soon. This might be the silliest thing I ever suggested but if so many would like to, I was wondering why someone doesn't organize one for SFF members that are interested in taking a trip together.

The pics below are from the internet. The first is Venice and the last is the Amalfi Coast.

ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH - OR IS IT?

What have you done that you felt that once WASN'T enough? What about things that you wouldn't repeat?

I was different before meeting my boyfriend a little over 9 years ago. I let men treat me in ways that I wouldn't let them today. My confidence is higher and my respect for myself has increased. I'm not the same person I was then. So, that's what I WOULDN'T repeat.

What I would do again is go back to Italy. I can't go soon but I do hope to have a chance to go back there again one day. It's too beautiful not to see it again.

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?

I read this on Dan's post and thought it would be a good blog topic. We know our age. It's on our birth certificate. Though actually there are some people that unfortunately don't know their date of birth. In some countries, the births were never recorded. However they still know their approximate age. So, forget what you know. Think about how you look and how you feel. What age would you think you were if you didn't know the answer? I think I'd be around 40.

I am giving notice to all of you attending the Nashville Bash. I expect to see many pictures with all the SFF members that show up. In fact, I'm looking forward to it. Those of us not attending (including myself) will be there in spirit. Have a wonderful time!!!

I've been having a very stressful day today. Everything has been going wrong. My mother has a caregiver that comes for an hour some days and she forgot to do something important. Thankfully I noticed. Being an author and dealing with some online book retailers are a pain. They can and do anything they want with our books. That is especially true of erotica. Some of what they do has cost me lost sales and it hurts. It's a constant struggle with some of them. To top it off, I think I'm having a general anxiety attack of sorts. It hasn't helped that I haven't eaten all day.

I put up these cartoons to cheer me up. I hope they make you laugh too. I love the 2nd one.

I just read a heartwarming story. A lung transplant recipient met the mother of the donor of her new lung. Lyndsey McLaughlin had cystic fibrosis and Diana Rodriguez's was the donor of her new lung. Lyndsey was slowing dying as her lungs kept losing their ability to function. She was put on a donor list and thanks to the wonderful gift she got, she's now doing well and has her life back. It's unfortunate that Diana's Adrian died from slipping off a subway platform and getting hit by the oncoming train, on his way to school. Adrian was an aspiring young chef. Thanks to his family's generosity, Lyndsey is healthy and recipients of his heart, pancreas and liver are equally grateful. It's a gift that is unequaled. What bravery it takes to donate a loved one's organs. I applaud Diana Rodriguez.

It also shows something else, at least to me. The donor was black, the recipient white. That made NO difference at all. We are all human beings, black or white or anything in between.

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!

I read an article which included:

Rosa Salgado graduated this past weekend from Miami-Dade College in Florida with an associate of arts degree in education, according to CBS Miami. But Salgado isn't your typical college student -- she's 80 years old, and has received her diploma along with two of her grandchildren.

The 80-year-old hopes that her story will inspire others to see the importance of education.

After reading it, I thought about what it must be like going to school at 80. I went back to university about 10 years after getting my B.Com. I had no trouble fitting in but I was in my 30s. However, I did get my full driver's license at 55. So in my opinion, it really is never too late.

What do you think? Have you ever considered going back to school? Have you already done so?
