IRELAND VOTED TO LEGALIZE GAY MARRIAGES!

What do you think about legalizing gay marriages? I'm a firm believer that if it doesn't hurt anyone, "live and let live". How do you feel about it?

Taken from the article:

Ireland's citizens have voted in a landslide to legalize gay marriage, electoral officials announced Saturday — a stunningly lopsided result that illustrates what Catholic leaders and rights activists alike called a "social revolution."

Friday's referendum saw 62.1 per cent of Irish voters say "yes" to changing the nation's constitution to define marriage as a union between two people regardless of their sex. Outside Dublin Castle, watching the results announcement in its cobblestoned courtyard, thousands of gay rights activists cheered, hugged and cried at the news.

"With today's vote, we have disclosed who we are: a generous, compassionate, bold and joyful people," Prime Minister Enda Kenny proclaimed as he welcomed the outcome. Beside him, Deputy Prime Minister Joan Burton declared the victory "a magical moving moment, when the world's beating heart is in Ireland."

I'M FEELING FRUSTRATED!

I put up my last post at about 3 am. It is now about 9:30 pm and it has yet to go up. That's 18.5 hours. It's the one about the 65-year-old that gave birth. This happens to me all the time. SFF blames everything and everyone but their system. If/when it finally goes up, nobody will notice it. I keep asking myself lately, is there a point in my blogging if my posts are rarely showing up? One person suggested that I might have my blog on some list that delays things, due to when I first posted erotica. If that's the case, things won't improve. Suggestions would be welcome. Let's see when this post shows up.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF A 65-YEAR-OLD HAVING A BABY?

This is from an article I read:

A 65-year-old woman in Israel has just become a mother for the first time. The ultra-Orthodox woman gave birth to a healthy 5.9-pound baby boy this week, reports the Jerusalem Post. Haya Shahar did so thanks to IVF treatment she had outside the country, likely Russia, because Israel forbids the procedure for women older than 54.

“We do not recommend this,” says Dr. Tal Biron of Kfar Saba hospital. Nevertheless, he added that the baby is “very cute.” Shahar’s husband is 67, and they’d been trying unsuccessfully to have a baby throughout their 46-year marriage. The Post notes the sperm was either donated or bought, but the hospital won’t specify; Haaretz says the couple used a donor egg.

---------------

I never had a baby and I'd love to have one. Realistically though, the time has passed. In the case of the above couple, I feel it would be unfair to a having a 65 year old mother, given he's just a baby. At school, I would imagine the would be made fun of. Certainly the parents wouldn't be able to keep up with the physical stamina needed for this . There are many other issues but those come to mind first. That said, there have certainly been celebrities that have adopted or had late in life, like Tony Randall. Is it fair to the ? I don't think so. Do you?

For the record, in the past few weeks, things have gone from bad to worse blogging here. I write SFF and it doesn't do a thing. On average, my post(s) don't show up until much later so they end up near the bottom of the pile. It's frustrating. They don't get seen as much and frankly, that isn't fair. It makes me feel like blogging less. That said, I'm trying to take the advice from my previous post, "Don't sweat the small stuff".

I love the serenity prayer. I was never in a 12 step program and I'm not religious, but those words make more sense than any I've ever read. I am a worrier, I must admit. Things do get to me more than they should. Then I think of that prayer and try to put things in perspective. It really helps, not always but often.

I wish each and every one of you a great weekend! For those at the Nashville Bash, have a wonderful time!!!

THE FUN IN GETTING OLDER!

Isn't it fun getting older? No, not really. Before I turned 50, everyone said how wonderful it would be. When I reached the golden age, it actually depressed me. I have to admit that turning 40 wasn't great either, but right before my birthday, we found out my dad was ill, so my age was the least of my concerns.

I'm not looking forward to becoming 60 but it's part of life. For some reason, I never really pictured myself being in my 50s or above. I wonder if that's typical. That said, if someone retires and could travel and have fun, I could see advantages. For me, I never really feel free. There's always some work to do. I think that if one could feel a true sense of freedom, being older would be great. It's all about your state of mind. I think I'll have to work on that.

Do you take your loved ones for granted or do you think they take you for granted? It's easy to do that since we get busy with our own lives and think they'll always be there to turn to.

ARE YOU A PUNCTUAL PERSON?

Are you the type of person that never shows up on time? How do you feel if someone comes in late to a movie and you have to get up to let them in? I've always been punctual when I was younger. In fact, if I had something scheduled, I'd be early. I am still like that for something important. I've become more lax if it's something that time isn't crucial.

MIRACLES DO HAPPEN

I read this article and I had to share it. I wrote a blog post called "Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction" and this proves it. This is what I read:

Two sisters met by chance on the first day of a creative writing class - more than 30 years after they were given up for adoption by their mother.

Lizzie Valverde, 35, and Katy Olson, 34, were strangers when they enrolled in the course at Columbia University, New York, in 2013.

As students introduced themselves on the opening day, Ms Valverde's description of her background sounded uncannily familiar to Ms Olson's.

Ms Olson told the New York Times she had made efforts to find out more about her mother.

She had also tried to trace her sister, but without luck.

Ms Olson decided to approach Ms Valverde after class and the two joined up the dots about their shared past.

"I worried that she'd think I was stalking her," Ms Olson told the Times. "But I didn't want to let her get away."

The astounded siblings, who were raised in different parts of the country, realised they had been born to the same mother.

Ms Valverde, who is from New Jersey, said: "When she followed up with the rapid fire of more detailed personal questions like, 'Were you given up for adoption in Tampa, Florida, to a woman named Leslie?' I was, like, 'Woah woah woah!'

"The room kind of froze. And I just said, 'Is this real life?'"

Ms Valverde told Ms Olson, who grew up in Florida and Iowa, that she had managed to trace their biological mother, Leslie Parker, a few years earlier.

The two long-lost siblings went to a bar and began to get to know one another.

Ms Parker, 54, who now lives in Rhode Island, told CBS News: "If you didn't believe in a higher power before you hear this story, you absolutely have to believe in one now because it's basically a miracle."

She now plans to meet her other , Ms Olson.

All three will be reunited on Monday as Ms Valverde graduates from Columbia with a degree in creative writing.

Ms Olson graduated last year.

I think it's wonderful that they met and still have plenty of time to get to know each other.

I read the post about the wonderful thing that Lyn did for your sister. When I saw Hazel, I thought about Nicolette. She is what we have at our house. They have something placed on the tray, but ours is free to put keys or something else. It was bought from the Bombay Company many years ago. We thought and still think, it's very cute. I took the pic from the internet, but one day I hope to take a camera and share some pics of our beautiful patio.

DO MEN REALLY LISTEN TO WHAT WOMEN SAY?

I really think that men tune us out. I sometimes say something to my boyfriend and it's like what did you say? It's because he wasn't really listening and then something triggered him to finally hear what I said. That's annoying and he knows that. Do you have that experience, ladies? Men, do you all tune us out? You might miss something important, you know.
