It is still summer, but fall and winter are not far away without gas and coal across the Atlantic. This family bathtub will be welcome on Saturdays!
I remember the many years after WW2 when we walked on Saturdays to the community's
public wash and shower facility for a warm shower. In our flat we had a sink with running cold water. My mom heated a big pot of water every morning on the stovetop for the obligatory "cat's lick". I remember well the times when we built life from scratch.

Green Environmental Policies
A week ago I talked to the man who takes care of my property in Germany while I am away. He told me that all wooded areas surrounding the village have been removed to make place for wind turbine facilities. The last two spruce trees are growing on my property.
It makes me sad, and a song comes to mind: Mein Freund, der Baum.......
My friend, the tree
I wanted to see you again for a long time,
My old childhood friend,
There were some things I wanted to tell you,

As a little girl I came to you with all 's worries.
I felt safe with you.

It's a rainy day, but anyway, people are celebrating Karneval in Germany. Despite all the never ending C restrictions and excitement about Ukraine, the Germans don't sacrifice the tradition of Karneval ....... especially in the River Rhine area. With respect of the Ukraine events, the usually giant parades in the streets of big cities have been cancelled......
Anyway, our little guy had fun in the Kindergarten. He dressed up as a garbage man and contributed chocolate croissants for all to the party. He loves playing with his little trash-collecting toy truck..... Well, garbage will always be there in good times and bad times. LOL
My granddaughter sent me the latest pictures of the little boy and their baby girl, now 6 months old already. Time flies, and I have not yet met them in person. It is still uncertain whether it will happen this year. Sigh.......

When I woke up around 7 AM, I felt ready to get out of bed right away. LOL Normally I snooze a little longer..... Thinking of breakfast and the smell of coffee awakened the spirits....... While waiting for the rolls baking in the oven, I turned to the kitchen window, opened the glass doors to let fresh air in and was amazed by the dense fog. Is this a sign that autumn is taking over? An hour later the sun peeked out from above.
It turned out to be a nice day......... and I was full of energy. Had my car inspected and got the new sticker for one year, paid the property taxes to get that out of the way till August next year, went to my favorite food market, went to Staples and bought ink for the copy machine and more files to finally sort out the papers that had piled up. LOL
After all that running around I watered the flower in my drive way and put a wooden ring on the ground that was meant to be used for the top of a banjo. I think it is a good protection for that plant.
After all that activity, I saw a picture of our little guy, who had just started playschool/kindergarten. To emphasize the importance of the transition to "big boy",
he got a cone made from paper, filled with some sweets and toys......
