In essence, every totalitarian system is based on the same idea :
give a higher (preferably even an unattainable} goal and then declare that this goal is so vital that its achievement must be above all else.
Make thereby clear again and again that at the end paradise waits for all.
Once people have internalized this, you can tighten the thumbscrews as much as you like. The reason that so many people do not recognize the totalitarian core of an idea is that the goal sounds so nice and harmless.

A few minutes ago, after I logged in , I was welcomed with sxxual offers of all kinds. It took me a while to get to the Blogs. When I clicked on Dating I got out of that crap. If this goes on, I will get out of SFF.

This morning I had two photos in my mail from friends who live in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Hurricane Fiona hit them last night. They took the photos this morning. Cloudbursts had undermined the street nearby, and a car was partly pulled down when the road surface was washed away. The driver survived and was taken to hospital.
Parts of Nova Scotia have no electricity. How big the damage is, was not known that early in the morning.

I hope all Canadians stay safe!

Friday again! I wish you All a wonderful day ahead. It's still cool - 16 C , 64 F (?) - but the sky is blue and the sun is shining. I can't start the day without breakfast, or is it brunch? lol We have a saying: In the morning eat like a king, at noon like a farmer, in the evening like a beggar.
I have a long To Do List, but that comes later to think about. One good thing happened this week. My new passport arrived, finally.
