A rare flower at the Lake Gardens. Because the tree is about 20 feet tall and the flowers fade in a day or two, it's beauty is often missed by a passerby.

The rearing of singing birds is popular in Malaysia - the most popular being the zebra dove. Bird singing competitions are often held and the champion bird can be sold for up to a hundred thousand ringgit. The photo shows birds kept in colourful cages by an enthusiast.

I went to the seaside two weeks ago - to a small fishing village called Tanjung Piandang. There I discovered that there is a sandy road along the beach. The picture I took is where bunds have been built about 100 meters into the sea to protect small fishing boats anchored there.
