The First Shock
Tisha had been frantically trying to contact him since late last night when he abruptly turned off all sort of communications with her. They had been talking almost an hour or more at a stretch until he suddenly lost his composer and turned off the desktop without any warning! It was too much for him to bear, Tisha seemed suddenly almost unreasonable to him. He could never believe that Tasha could hide anything from him! It was beyond his imagination.
The gap started to widen gradually between the two after she came back home from Europe. He could feel the first hint of indifference when she was in France for a fortnight before visiting her niece in United Kingdom. She did not contact him during the first few days of her stay in France. He could not understand why Tisha was maintaining silence! Neither did she offer him any acceptable reason why she did not try to contact him soon after her arrival in Lyon. She simply said afterwards that, as she was busy, she could not buy a new sim card for her use in France! The matter though ended there but left the first sign of distrust between the two!
It was the first week of October when she came back home. As usual, he wanted to talk to her at the schedule time. However, she seemed reluctant to maintain the regular schedule. She however explained why she was unable to chat as before. Tisha simply shocked him by disclosing for the first time that she lives with her husband in a house under the same roof. This was contrary to what she told him before. Without being asked, she went on saying, “perhaps, you feel surprised why I said you otherwise initially when we met. Things have changed. I now live with him on humanitarian ground, as he is very sick and cannot take care of him! His close relatives do not live here either. There is another thing you ought to know my dear. My loves him very much. I have to see that part of our lives too for the time being! Hope you could understand what I wanted to say you.”
“Yes, I am trying to understand. However, it takes time to understand all the complications, Tisha! One thing is now clear to me why you did not want me to ring your fixed phone!``
“Now you know, do you not?”
“Yes, I do. Anyway, what had kept you busy this evening? You were not reachable on cell phone either. I found your messenger handle busy too!”
‘May be I was busy chatting with my relatives’ or friends. I cannot remember what kept me busy”.
“Never mind, Tisha, sometimes new friends may keep one very busy for obvious reasons!’
What do you mean? Did I tell you that he is a new friend? He is an old acquaintance. It remained so long dormant. I came across all his e-mails while deleting the files today. It seems he visits my profile picture everyday! I now can recollect that I might have talked to him once or twice in the past!”
“Is he the one who always puts your handle within the first brackets whenever he feels like greeting you?”
“Maybe, but am not sure about it. Others also like to do such things frequently too. They all like me! Do they not?”
“Yes, it appears so now. But I have not done so as yet!”
“You never explained why you have so far refrained yourself from doing so!”
“No, I have not. Did it hurt you?”
I don’t know!”
“Wonderful! May be, you are to spent more times now to make responses to those accumulated e-mails, I presume. Take your time, Tisha. I have to leave now. Stay happy and well.”
He turned of the desktop abruptly without giving Tisha, any chance to make a reply.

The Ocean Liner RMS TITANIC

I could not imagine on first look that the photos appended (1 and 2) are related to the ill fated RMS Titanic, the British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning of 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg. It was her maiden voyage from Southampton, UK, to New York City, USA...
While the first photo shows a undated letter written by one of the survivors of the sinking ocean liner Titanic six months after the disaster, the next photo shows the Titanic’s last lunch menu saved by a passenger who climbed aboard the so-called “Money Boat” before the ocean liner went down.
The menu, which listed corned beef, dumplings and other savory items, is signed on the back in pencil by a surviving passenger named Isaac Gerald Frauenthal, who escaped inevitable death on a lifeboat.

The Extinct Species Of My Homeland.

My homeland, Bangladesh, is well known for its wildlife. Presently, my country is home to around 53 species of amphibian, 19 species of marine reptiles, 139 species of reptile, 380 species of birds, 116 species of mammals and 5 species of marine mammals. The famous Royal Bengal Tigers still roam in the largest mangrove forest in the world known as the Sundarbans.
Unfortunately, due to deforestation that resulted in the loss of habitat to many species, and poaching, many of these species became either extinct or are on the verge of extinction. The photos of 10 species of animals which have since become extinct from Bangladesh have been uploaded here under with details for my interested readers to read.
Details of Photos:
1.Indian rhinos were seen in greater Chittagong and Mymensingh regions until the end of 19th century when they were last sighted.
2. Javan rhinos were found in the Sundarbans until 1908, while Sumatran rhinos were found in greater Sylhet and Chittagong regions until the 1880s.
3. Sumatran Rhinocero
4. Marsh crocodiles basking in the sun.They were last sighted during the 1950s
5. Striped Hyena
6.Grey Wolf
7.Swamp deer were widely distributed in the evergreen forest in greater Sylhet and
Chittagong, and also in the Sundarbans until 1950s when they became extinct
8.Male and female Black Buck. This particular species of antelopes were once found in the north-west regions of Bangladesh until the end of the 19th century when they were last sighted and declared extinct from this region.
9.Sloth Bears ,which were found in the forests in Chittagong Hill-tracts region are no more to be found.
10.Bantengs were found in the forests in Chittagong Hill-tracts region.Photo shows male and female Bantengs in captivity. They were last sighted in the 1930s.

A giant photo of the beloved Zimbabwean lion killed by an American trophy hunter was among images projected Saturday onto the Empire State Building in New York in a dazzling display.
The "Projecting Change on the Empire State Building" initiative was designed to raise awareness about the plight of endangered animals and was billed as a first of its kind.
An image of Cecil the lion, whose killing has sparked international outrage, was prime among animals whose pictures covered 33 floors of the southern face of one of the world's most famous landmarks in an eight-minute video loop.
New Yorkers from as far as 20 blocks away snapped pictures of the building as it lit up the nighttime sky over a steamy Manhattan.

Justice For Cecil--The Lion

They all signed the petition--thousands upon thousands of people demanding justice for Cecil, killed by Dr. Walter Palmer, an American dentist.
Palmer carried out the cold-blooded killing during a bow-hunting trip in Zimbabwe earlier this month.
Cecil, the beloved star of Zimbabwe's popular safari tours, was shot with a bow and arrow by Palmer, who paid thousands of dollars for the opportunity, and according to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, neither the land owner nor Palmer had a permit or quota to hunt down the beloved lion Cecil in such a cruel way.
Cecil was no stranger to tourists. He was a popular figure in and around the park.
"It took more than 40 hours for Cecil to die after he was shot. A professional hunter eventually tracked down the injured animal, shot him and removed his head and skin as trophies. Reports say Cecil was lured off Hwange National Park, baited with an animal carcass.
Those have since been confiscated by the authorities as evidence.
Locals involved in the hunt, including the professional guide the dentist hired as well as the owner of the land which hosted the hunt, may now face poaching charges. They are due in court Aug. 6."
"Zimbabwean police reportedly said they were "looking for Palmer," but the dentist says he has not been contacted by any authorities there or in the US about the death of the lion. He says he will "assist them in any inquiries" should they get in contact.
In a statement issued Tuesday amid an uproar over the killing, Palmer said he thought "everything about this trip was legal and properly handled and conducted."
He added that he "had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt."
Reports say Cecil was lured off Hwange National Park, baited with an animal carcass, shot with a bow and arrow, and then tracked for nearly two days before finally being killed with a gun.

Nixon was least bothered with 1971 genocide: Tim Weiner

Appended here for my readers to read what the Pulitzer award winning New York Times journalist Tim Weiner says about the former US president Richard Nixon about the genocide that happened in Bangladesh during 1971 in his latest book "One Man Against The World: The Tragedy of Richard Nixon"
The book contains many interesting revelations, which he discussed in some detail in a 'Times of India' interview on Sunday last.
Weiner discounted Nixon's fear of communism as being responsible for turning his back on the Bangladesh genocide.
"Nixon repeatedly calls the people of India savages and cannibals. He repeatedly mourns the fact that Yahiya is going down and Indira Gandhi will emerge stronger.”
“He didn't give a fig for the genocide that was being committed in present-day Bangladesh, for which people are still being tried and convicted. The origin of this is simply loyalty for Yahiya for smuggling Kissinger to China."
Weiner pins it all to Nixon's irrational hatred of India, despite knowing that India would surely win the war.
He says Nixon was actually risking a world war when he and Kissinger started pushing the Chinese to attack India a la 1962 to stop the Indian army from entering Bangladesh.
"They start staring down the barrel of World War three in the name of Yahiya Khan facilitating the opening to China," says Weiner in his interview. "They do this despite knowing who is going to win the next India-Pakistan war."
Perhaps many of my readers might have forgotten the genocide that was committed by Pakistan in present-day Bangladesh during 1971. Nevertheless, I shall neither forget nor forgive the Pakistani perpetrators who were responsible for committing the atrocities on us during our war of liberation in the year 1971. I am one of the eyewitnesses who have seen the atrocities that the Armed Forces of Pakistan unleashed on the unarmed civilians of the then Bangladesh.
The Pakistani military began the genocide in Bangladesh on 26 March 1971 by lunching a military crackdown on us to suppress our calls for self-determination. During the Nine-month-long our war for liberation, Pakistani Army and supporting militias killed an estimated 3 million people and violated nearly 4 hundred thousands women in a systematic campaign of genocidal abuse.
While I can understand the reasons behind Nixon’s silence, I could never understand why the Pakistani perpetrators were not punished for the crimes they committed against humanity. Why India allowed them to go back home like war heroes?

The Swan song

I could not recollect when these few lines of the famous song touched my heart deeply. Was it when I was a young university student passing times with my friends in the common room or was it very recently when my loved one preferred to leave me alone? Why do the lines make me pensive and sad whenever I listen to someone singing the song? I know none could help me to ascertain the reason. Must we not eventually leave this world one day for the unknown? Then why can we not endure separation when both are alive? Why the separation makes us cry? Can any one come up with an answer??

The Magical Moment !

“Magical moments are hidden everywhere in our everyday life. But they frequently get lost in the clamor of a fast paced world.”
The inner meaning of the above quote is not difficult to understand. However, it is difficult to discover such a moment that remains always hidden unless we try to find it out consciously. Such magical moment could be a trifling thing to another one, but important to you. None but you could feel its real value because such a moment could not be magical to another person for obvious reason.
Could you describe such a moment in your everyday life? May be you could provided you know the reason why you think so? You may need to ponder on it first. Here is a hint for finding the magical moment in your everyday life. Perhaps, it is the moment when you pass time with your pet at home! May be, it could be the twilight that you like to enjoy everyday sitting on a park bench! It could be the moment when you could see your beloved walking along the airport tarmac towards you! It could be any other thing also!
