Bras, brasseires, over-the-shoulder boulder holders — whatever you call them, they have been a socially accepted clothing standard for the greater part of 100 years. Yet one man believes these garments which are seen as a necessary evil are more evil than necessary.

Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon is a sports medicine specialist from France who believes bras are doing more harm than good to women´s breasts. In fact, Rouillon believes breasts would be healthier and stronger if they never come in contact with a bra at all. Many women feel the need to wear the undergarment to fight the effects of sagging, but according to Rouillon´s extensive research, forgoing the bra will actually help breasts stand up against sagging naturally.

“Our first results confirm the hypothesis that the bra is a false need,” said Rouillon in an interview with FranceInfo explaining his study. “Medically, physiologically, anatomically, the breast does not benefit from being deprived of gravity. Instead, it languishes with a bra.”

The French sports medicine specialist has spent the last 15 years armed with a caliper and ruler, regularly taking measurements of 330 volunteers between the ages of 18 and 35. Though it´s slow going, Rouillon observed that women who did not wear a bra saw their breasts lift by as much as 7 millimeters (0.275 inches) each year. The braless women also reported firmer breasts, disappearing stretch marks and reduced back pain. According to Rouillon, women gain no anatomical, medical, or physiological benefit from having their weight supported by a bra.

The French researcher also said wearing a bra can prohibit the growth of supportive tissues under the breast. If a woman wears a bra every day throughout her youth, these tissues could begin to degrade, thereby causing the breasts to sag. When women skip the bra, these tissues and muscles are given a chance to become stronger as evidenced in the lift observed.

Professor Rouillon isn´t suggesting a bra-fueled bonfire, however. His research has found that ditching the bra is best for younger women who haven´t spent much time in the underwear. Older women who have been wearing a bra for many years won´t see any benefit by giving up now.

“It would be dangerous to advise all women to stop wearing their soutien-gorge as the women involved were not a representative sample of the population,” said Rouille in an interview with Connexion, an English-language French newspaper.

Yet one 28-year old volunteer who has been working with Rouillon throughout this study says she´s been experiencing multiple health benefits by losing the bra.

According to the woman referred to only as “Capucine,” going braless has helped her stand more upright, relieved her back pain and has even helped her breathe more easily.

- Soldiers rescue a stranded pilgrim across a make shift bridge -

The Indian armed forces launched an exclusive website on Wednesday for the benefit of flood affected people, their families and relatives. The two battalions that I served with in the Indian Army have been in the forefront.

The efforts of the armed forces have been augmented by the Indo Tibetan Border Police in the areas where they are. Indian Disater Management personnel have also lent a hand.

Indian Air Force and Army have flown more than 2000 helicopter sorties and rescue operations have involved some 10000 men in uniform with the paratroopers in lead and all units in the area pitching in.

The Central Command of the Indian Army, responsible for the rescue operations, has started a web site " www.suryahopes.in" which gave minute to minute update on Army operations across Uttarakhand, location wise data of people stranded at various places, list of rescued persons, helpline numbers, latest news about flood victims and provides links to Uttarakhand government web site and google sites giving information on flood affected people. By logging on to this site, anyone from around the world can locate his near and dear ones. Although the data is not exhaustive, but it is being updated as and when the information is available.

The cause of the floods is not far to see. It is the massive, ill considered dams on the tributaries of the Ganges, Madakini and Bhagirthi, multi-storeyed buildings constructed right on the river bank and uncontrolled and ill-catered for growth of tourism has been the prime reasons for the devastation.

I BELIEVE POLITICIANS HAVE CEDED LEADERSHIP TO POPULISM AND NOW THE POLITICAL BLAME GAME HAS STARTED WITH THE PRINCIPLE POLITICAL PARTIES BLAMING EACH OTHER FOR THE MESS.

Army engineers negotiated numerous land slides on Rishikesh - Badrinath road and thousands of stranded vehicles, to reach Lambagar last evening. Army constructed the bridge throughout the night despite inclement weather conditions to ensure that it is ready for use by pilgrims evacuating by foot from Bardinath. These are all areas of pilgrimage for Hindus and Sikhs; the gurudwara ( literally means the ‘door of the Guru’ - Sikh temple) Hemkund Sahib are located in the Region.

More than 6000 Army personnel are deployed across Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand for the past 10 days risking their own lives to save lives of our countrymen. Army has so far evacuated more than 33,000 people since June 17. While over 25,000 people were rescued by foot, over 8000 were moved out by helicopter. Thirteen Army Aviation aircraft conducted 600 sorties to evacuate 2715 people and ferry 24 tonnes of food, fuel, medicines, blankets and relief material to the people.

WATER - THE ELIXIR OF LIFE

I received a mail from a doctor friend. He has been one of the few practicing Indian doctors in Japan. Reproducing the mail minus his personal and family details etc.

You are perhaps aware of many of these things already ??!!

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, cardiac system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, obesity, bronchitis, asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhoea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, uterus cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat diseases.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water

2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minute

3.. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours

5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:
1. High Blood Pressure (30 days)
2. Gastric (10 days)
3. Diabetes (30 days)
4. Constipation (10 days)
5. Cancer (180 days)
6. TB (90 days)
7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards – daily..

This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.
It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life. Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

This makes sense .. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.

Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine.
Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks:

· Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting.
· Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
· You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.
· Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.
· 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.
· Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to everyone they know, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.
Please be a true friend and send this article to all your friends you care about.

C/P from Ms Luisa Dillner without her prior permission
The Guardian, Sunday 2 June 2013 20.30 BST

Small trials have shown drugs to be more effective than placebos. Photograph: Ulrich Baumgarten/Getty Images

According to NHS Choices, about half of women are estimated to have sexual problems. The most common is difficulty in getting aroused – and it's the one pharmaceutical companies are most interested in. Recent reports suggest that Lybrido and a related drug Lybridos could be available on prescription by 2015. Small, well-designed trials published earlier this year in the Journal of Sexual Medicine show these drugs did better than placebos in increasing sexual desire and satisfaction.

Lybrido contains testosterone, to increase the brain's receptiveness to sexual cues and improve sexual responsiveness. But it also contains a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor. This, like Viagra, to which these drugs are related, acts by increasing blood flow to the genitals, to heighten sensation and desire.

These pills (they vary in ingredients to deal with slightly different arousal problems) are the brainchild of a company called Emotional Brain in the Netherlands. The FDA has now approved the next stage of trials in America. So, can you relax and wait for a couple of years, or do you need to stoke up your desire before then?
The solution?

There is a view that we don't need a prescription for lack of desire, because it's not an illness. However doctors have helpfully made it one – hypoactive sexual desire disorder. A debate article 10 years ago in the BMJ warned that even the broader term of female sexual dysfunction was made up for the benefit of drug companies.

Since women's loss of desire often coincides with having , with interpersonal problems, the menopause, pressures at work and feeling less attractive than most women in the media, there would seem to be enough social reasons without medical ones.

Whatever the causes may be, there is some evidence that women would like to feel more desire and most existing therapies require some work. These address any depression or negative self-image, discuss how to use stimuli (visual or sex toys) for sexual arousal and use education and cognitive therapy as well as helpful tips about how to relax and stop watching how you're doing (spectatoring).

The BMJ's Best Practice section on sexual dysfunction states that it is a myth that the "absence of desire preceding sexual activity denotes sexual dysfunction". So hurrah for that. There are herbal remedies, but little evidence that they work – so don't use them.

Other medications in trials include Femprox, a prostaglandin-based cream that increases blood flow to the genitals (though there are already ways to do that). The Daily Mail expressed concerns that Lybrido could create nymphomaniacs. There will doubtless soon be a pill to treat that as well.

CAN YOU LOVE OTHERS WITHOUT LOVING YOURSELF ??

Copy/paste of a very nice read; thanks for reading (The author Ms Sheetal Jain is a life coach and writer. She usually writes on SpeakingTree (www.speakingtree.in) :

Once in a workshop, I was speaking about loving self and one gentleman started arguing. He said, until now we have been taught that we should never love ourselves and we should devote our lives to the service of others. I agree we should live in service but the big question is, can you give something to someone, which you do not have yourself? When you are deprived of something, you would keep asking for yourself and when you are asking for yourself all the time, then how can you give it to others?

Whatever problems you see in others, whatever good things you see in others, actually are a reflection of the things you find in yourself. Whatever love you have been feeling for yourself reflects in love you feel for others. A mother also gives love to the , because this is how she has been feeling. She feels it's my . A person who loves himself or herself unconditionally can only love others without expectations and unconditionally. A person who has not accepted himself completely can never accept others and this world completely. Whatever faults he would find in himself, he would find in others too. A person who does not feel good about himself, would also look at the world in same mirror. For him the world also would be a bad place.

It is a very noble intention to desire to give love to everyone you meet. However, that can only happen if you have been loved enough. However, if you depend on others you would always be insecure and you would never be satisfied. It has to come from within you to satisfy you. Spend time alone, ask yourself what factors I do not like about myself, if there are some why they are there, do they matter. How can I accept myself unconditionally. What are the things I like in myself and how can I give them as a gift to the world. How do i love myself more. More you spend time with yourself and look inside, more you would know how vast you are. How limitless you are. You would realise there has never been a reason to judge yourself or evaluate yourself. You have always been complete and perfect. When you will be able to see your completeness, then you will be able to see completeness in the others and in this world.

This came from a friend in the US who was in India for the Staff Course.

Someone asked the other day, 'What was your favourite 'fast food' when you were growing up?'

'We didn't have fast food when I was growing up,' I informed him.
'All the food was slow.'

'C'mon, seriously.. Where did you eat?'

'It was a place called 'home,'' I explained.

'Mum cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate, I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.'

By this time, the lad was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table.........!!

But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I'd figured his system could have handled it:

Some parents NEVER owned their own house, wore jeans, set foot on a golf course, travelled out of the country or had a credit card.

We didn't have a television in our house until I was 18.

It was, of course, black and white, and the station went off the air at 10 PM, after playing the national anthem and epilogue; it came back on the air at about 6 am. And there was usually a locally produced news and farm show on, featuring local people...

Pizzas were not delivered to our home... But milk was.

All newspapers were delivered by boys, seven days a week.
They had to get up at 6 every morning.

Film stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the films. There were no movie ratings because all movies were responsibly produced for everyone to enjoy viewing, without profanity or violence or almost anything offensive.

If you grew up in a generation before there was fast food, you may want to share some of these memories with your or grandchildren. Just don't blame me if they bust a gut laughing.

Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it?

MEMORIES from a friend:

My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house (she died in December) and he brought me an old lemonade bottle.

In the bottle top was a stopper with a bunch of holes in it. I knew immediately what it was, but my had no idea.

She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something.

I knew it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to 'sprinkle' clothes with because we didn't have steam irons. Man, I am old.

How many do you remember?

Headlight dip-switches on the floor of the car.

Ignition switches on the dashboard.

Trouser leg clips for bicycles without chain guards.

Soldering irons you heated on a gas burner.

Using hand signals for cars without turn indicators.

Older Than Dirt Quiz:

Count all the ones that you remember, not the ones you were told about. Ratings at the bottom

1. Sweet cigarettes

2. Coffee shops with juke boxes

3. Home milk delivery in glass bottles

4. Party lines on the telephone

5. Newsreels before the movie

6. TV test patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again in the morning.

(There were only 2 channels [if you were fortunate])

7. Peashooters

8. 33 rpm records

9. 45 RPM records

10. Hi-fi's

11. Metal ice trays with levers

12. Blue flashbulb

13. Cork popguns

I must be 'positively ancient' but those memories are some of the best parts of my life.

Don't forget to pass this along! Especially to all your really OLD friends....I just did!

NEVER ARGUE WITH A WOMAN WHO READS

An old and a well beaten one but this is needed once again as a reminder to myself and whoever considers it is applicable to him.

One morning, the husband returns his fishing boat, to his lakeside cottage, after several hours of fishing, and decides to take a nap.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the fishing boat out.

She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up, and begins to read her book..

The peace and solitude, are magnificent.

Along comes a Fish and Game Warden, in his boat.

He pulls up alongside the woman, and says, "Good morning Ma'am. What are you doing here?'

"Reading a book,", she replies, thinking to herself, "Isn't that obvious!?"

'You're in a restricted fishing area", he informs her.

The lady replies, "I'm sorry officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading".

He replies, "Yes, but I see that you have all the right equipment, to indulge in fishing?! For all I know, you could start, at any moment. I'll have to take you in, and write you up".

The woman replies, "If you do that, I'll have to charge you, with sexual assault" .

The Game Warden retorts, "But I haven't even touched you"?!.

The lady says, "That's true. But you have all the right equipment, for the same? For all I know, you could start, at any moment".

The man says, "Have yourself a nice day ma'am", and leaves.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY

Never argue with a woman who reads.

It is highly likely that she can also think.

THE SENIORS AND HAPPINESS - A C/P

I am not forwarding this to my friends only because it is so well written by whoever but it makes a lot of sense.

As I've aged, I've become kinder to, and less critical of, myself. I've become
my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play on the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50s, 60s & 70s,

and

I will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And, eventually, I remember the important things.

Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you lose a loved one, or when a suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion. A heart never broken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.

And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!

Please don't forward this to anyone. Just read it here and let everyone else read it here

and

have fun.
