Garden visit to RHS Rosemoor

It is always a pleasure to visit the Royal Horticultural Show garden at Rosemoor near Torrington, North Devon.
Wisteria tea rooms
Waterfall on woodland walk
Quiet corner in shrub rose garden
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother memorial Rose Garden
Lake view
Hot garden (Reds, yellows and oranges)
Cottage garden border
Cool garden (mostly blue with water features)
Acer atropurpureum.
Cream tea to recharge the batteries after all that walking.

A few more views and individual plants from the garden.
In the last picture our woodland dell is filling out nicely. Good place sit in an afternoon out of the hot sun.

Phygelium Fanfare Cream (Cape Fuchsia) has unusual flowers
The rest of the pansies are just about over but this one just keeps on flowering.
Blue ageratum
The planters under the troughs and hanging baskets on the deck are almost in full flower.
Second flowering of this clematis with a lot more come.
Amaranthus (Love lies bleeding) just starting flower
This geranium has overwintered for the last years and seems well settled into its sheltered corner.
The Hollyhock makes a display its own

Not so sunny today but these might brighten things .
Blue and yellow million bells
Hemerocallis - late flower but worth the wait
Begonia semperflorens , lives its name
Fuchsia and Canterbury bell in the small border giving some height and colour
Double flowered, two tone million bells
Either this anemone forgot to flower in the spring or it is putting on an encore
Lobelia cardinalis - late flowering but a spectacular red
Maroon poppy -self seeding everywhere
Bright red verbena with deep, deep purplepetunia
Our very own 'blumenecke' taking over a large part of the deck

With the sun out everything in the garden looks more cheerful, brighter and better.
A few of the brightest from today's trip around the patch.
The first nasturtiums came from a packet of seeds labelled 'Pastel shades'. No comment lol.
Deep red nasturtium
Salmon pink nasturtium
Double yellow nasturtium
Oriental lilies
Fuchsias flowering fit burst.
The pelargoniums are starting flower at last.
The first of what looks be a lot of pink straw flowers.
This giant calla lily gets bigger every year. It is at least 3 feet tall -- so far.
This hanging basket has been flowering the whole of spring and summer. Creeping jenny just gets brighter and hangs down further every day.
Bright, cheerful calendula loving the sunshine.

Nothing tastes like fresh fruit and vegetables.
Potatoes, courgettes(zucchini), mangetout, peas, spinach leaf, gooseberries.

Today in the garden

Everything is growing apace so there is daily more and more colour to just wander around and look at.
A view down the garden. It s only 70 feet long but slopes almost 9 feet so is divided into beds on 7 levels.
An almost black petunia. Unusual we thought but beautiful colour.
Looking up at the top level garden-- the deck festooned with as many flowers as I can pack in.
Another trailing fuchsia - they do flower profusely.
More petunias.Simple flowers but bright and colourful.
Caught this bee collecting pollen from the Shasta daisies.
Troughs and hanging baskets -- my personal favourites for adding colour - and they can be changed several times in the season.
This sea lavender over wintered and has been flowering since March -- it is still putting up new flower stalks.
Tomatoes, aubergines, sweet peppers, carrots and cucumbers in the greenhouse.
Even the humble potato can have beautiful flowers.

From the look of the other blogs we all need more flowers

Dull weather for a week -- but flowers provide a bright spot to cheer things up.
The first is a very old cottage garden herb called Borage -- but I reckon it deserves its place in the flower border -- and you can eat every part of it except the roots.
