I get to listen to Messiah a couple of times.
It's being aired on CBC Radio 1 as I am writing this.

Messiah was first performed in Dublin in the 1700's.
It originally meant for Easter.

Apparently the Canadians stole a German V2 rocket from the Brits.

Farley Mowat, a well known Canadian author, was a Lt with Hastings And Prince Edward regiment - commonly known as the Hasty P's. I read his account of his WWII experience, but nowhere did he mention his transfer to intelligence towards the end of the war.

At some point it was suggested to him to grab a V2 for Canada.

The Brits had ten of them and they were well guarded.

Mowat along with a pair of other officers and a large bottle of gin went to where the V2's were kept.

While the gin entertained the British guards, they absconded with the only V2 that was still in decent condition.

They brought it back to Canadian lines and disguised it as a midget submarine because the Brits were looking for it.

It was eventually taken to Canada for rocket research.

Some 25 years or so ago, before Wikipedia and Google search, I read an interesting story.

Auschwitz had some of British POWs working there doing supposedly non war related tasks.

One of the Brits held there was a British Royal Navy doctor, who was Jewish, in the camp with the prisoners who were being worked to death.

The doctor had supposedly been taken from a RN submarine that had been captured by the Germans.

A British sergeant decided to try to find him. He changed places with one of prisoners and went into the other camp with the work party.

He did not find the Brit doctor, and switched places again to get back to the British barrack.

Fast forward to now.

I got a about one of the Brits who was there. Sergeant Major Charles Coward. A movie was made in the fifties about his escapades entitled The Password Is Courage; starring Dirk Bogarde.

Coward is the one who went looking for the Brit doctor.
The story now is that the doctor had been taken from ship that had been torpedoed, and not from a sub.

After I finished the I looked up the Coward story on the web.
During that process I found that the Brit doctor had been identified.
He survived Auschwitz and was marched west along with thousands of others.
He escaped, hid, and eventually was found by the American army.
He had been a doctor on a ship but not a RN officer.
After the war he went back to serving on ships as a doctor.

Mango recently referred to the British ambassador to the US thus;y after the ambassadors evaluation of Mango was made public.

This is from the guy whose own secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, called Mango a 'f***ing moron'.

The words pot, kettle immediately come to mind.

Mr. Trump goes from one glorious win to another.

Having replaced Obamacare with a far better system as he promised, built the promised wall, sorted out NATO, brought North Korea to heel, reconciled the warring parties in the middle east by moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, he has now restored balance to the legislative process by letting the loyal opposition take control of the house.

The Dems probably think that it was t their doing.

I say, nay!

It was the forward thinking of Mr. Trump who realizes how very important it is to have a process in place that reflects the intent of the Founding Fathers.

Mango is going to be growing about what a great deal he got for America with Canada.

Don't buy into it.

The Canadian negotiators are not idiots.
They knew full well that Mango was under the gun to get this thing done before the mid-terms, so the Canadians dragged it out as long as possible to increase the pressure on the US negotiators.

They didn't give up what the US really wanted, which was elimination of third party dispute resolution (Mexico gave it up) and getting rid of the Canadian production quota system for chicken, eggs, and dairy products. The Canadian producers are a little nervous because they don't really know how this is going to play out.

Canada gave a bit on import restrictions for dairy, but they did that for Europe some time ago, and I don't see European products flooding the market here.

Time well tell, but I don't see a lot changing in the way Canada and the US does business.
