The Right Path/Way
Wisdom of the Peaceful Warrior cont .
Greetings Good People, some more thoughts . Over the years I found a few things conducive to my may of thinking , conduct and ethics. Based on Bushido, The Way of the Warrior' . I do not always get it right, However, difficult it may seem, the rewards are awesome and make for a happy spirit.

When asked, “Why do you always insist on taking the hardest route.”
A good reply would be “Why do you assume that there are more than one Path To the warrior there is only one Way – The path of the warrior. The Way is not the easy road. It is not the one that most people choose because they see a choice – the easy way or the hard way. The warrior does not look at his life in those terms.
The average person looks at life in terms of what is best for him or her personally. The warrior looks at life in terms of what is right. To the warrior, there are not many choices to choose from; there is only right and wrong.
Warriors are dedicated to what is right, so they do not see two roads, but only the right Path. And they do not consider whether that Way is easy or hard, only whether or not it is right. The Way may not be easy for the warrior, but the choice of roads always is.
Everything we do in life involves a choice! The same applies that everything we do not do also involves a choice. We structure our life from birth to death with things we choose to do and other things we choose not to do. There is a huge difference, however, between choosing not to do something and choosing to do nothing! Doing nothing but wishing things to be different, seems to be a popular course of action. We all are creators of our present situation by the choices we have made whether we have chosen to do something, not to do something or to do nothing. Recognizing that we live in a world of our own creation means to take responsibility for our choices and their consequences. Yet responsibility is also not on the popular hit list. We are in control of our response and the values we decide to place on events in our lives.

There can be times when we are afraid to be still. We live in our heads, trying to analyze, organize, strategize, and figure everything out. All we really want is to be happy, and somehow our attempts keep missing the mark.

Learn to refrain from moving your attention anywhere. Learn to stop creating a life through a troubled mind and instead to let things be. Be free from noise, find a silence, go from doing to being.
A quote from a favourite film of mine. The Last Samurai, ‘Too many Minds’. Stillness is not about being still. It is having a clear mind, a constant mind. A still pond will reflect the image of the moon. Open your mind and let go. The perfection of stillness lies in the space between inhaling and exhaling. How long you spend in that space is up to you .
Be one with all things

COMPASSION. A LIFE OF PEACE AND WITHOUT EMOTION
The Way of the Peaceful Warrior

It is often said that compassion is born out of feeling sorry for another who has experienced loss or suffered tragedy . We feel and share their pain and a strong desire to give aid in comfort. While this mean seem perfectly acceptable in society . It is my opinion that as a Warrior of the Way (YamaBushi) we must adopt a different approach and avoid creating more sorrow.

First we must understand the true meaning of compassion. Compassion should be just an acceptance of how the world is at any given time. Having a state of mind which is non judgmental, clear, undisturbed, and tempered to not fall into temptation of false belief just because something seems inviting.

The Buddhist example is that sorry and pity, are actually considered close enemies. Genuine caring is born from a peaceful warrior who has the courage to say . This has happened now it is done, move on. The compassion is to be a lantern of light and guide the person to happiness. If someone is suffering from hunger then it is more appropriate to provide nourishing food. If they are thirsty, provide them something to drink. If someone is in emotional pain bring your love and unconditional acceptance.

It would not be helpful if the carer were to go or become thirsty, would it?. The same can then be said it is also not helpful to show emotional sorry or pity , when actually what is need is unconditional love and understanding

Sometimes words are pointless a simple gesture of a hand on a shoulder is a signal of that care . It has no emotion it just a gesture that is understood. Kindness and compassion are a language even a deaf and blind person will understand.

Words of the Constant mind

Be deaf to negative thoughts and achieve your goals
Opinions do not define your reality
Kindness is free and is a language a deaf and blind man will understand
Take care of your thoughts when alone
Be mindful of your words when in company
Your thoughts are not facts
That which does not serve your interest should be discarded
If you are not sure of your limit, push harder
If the path you walk looks familiar you are probably on the wrong path.
Do not search for happiness just practice happiness
Hating someone will have no effect on them but it will affect your inner self
Make your decision within breaths
It is not necessary to be the best just to be better
It is not always necessary to understand but it is necessary to respect
“Iron is full of impurities that weaken it; through forging, it becomes steel and is transformed into a razor-sharp sword. Human beings develop in the same fashion”

“Simplicity, patience, compassion".
These are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world

“Knowing others is intelligence;
knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength;
mastering yourself is true power.”
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
I am everything nothing and all that is inbetween..I am Ki

Surfing The Wave

Greetings Good People

SURFING THE WAVE

After a very interesting conversation regarding ‘Control’ and ‘Surfing the Wave’. I decided to put some thought to it . I’m going to leave the Control bit for the moment as when you grasp the concept of Surfing the Wave the control bit is actually irrelevant.
Combating the elements
I think it would be fair to say that for whatever reason we as humans seem to do our best at fighting the forces of nature , not always on purpose but we do anyway.
I will use Ki and the four elements that go with it to make it whole.
Earth
Controversial this one. Why do so many people live in and around dangerous places. San Andreas fault, Ring of Fire Mt Etna, Etc. Earthquakes, Volcanoes . Need I say more.

Wind
I guess most of us have been caught in a storm at some point in our lives. Howling wind at speed and we have either attempted to meet it head on and battle through it, gone with it but braced because we don’t want to go at the same speed or gone adjacent to the wind and lost balance

Fire.
Here is one of four which does not occur on its own but is probably the most destructive of all the elements and generally because of our own doing and manufacture . No matter how we seem to want to find how and touch. Extinguishing fire is also a challenge depending on what is burning. Yet we have manufactured so many things which require a variety of agents to put them if they ignite.

Water
I see water as the yin yang of the elements when still it reflects the perfect image of the moon. The ebb and flow of the tide is the same as breathing in and .
It has the ability to change, vapour, liquid, solid
When combined with other forces of nature it becomes very powerful .This brings me to the point of Surfing the Wave.
When faced with an oncoming wave we have choices, jump over it, dive trough it let it us full on or go with it. The later always seems the less likely as we have gone into the water and the attitude of I’m standing here and I am not moving’ takes effect. We get battered swept off our feet and we go back and stand again.

The seasoned Surfer with always go with the flow he chooses the right time to stand to steer with energy ’touch the wave’ does his best to maintain balance and ride it . With perfect practice the surfer can do this repeatedly. The surfer is well aware he has no control of the wave or what it might do he accepts this and rides with it in that very moment and makes adjustments accordingly. Doing this often gives a sense of achievement therefore a better wellbeing
Do not fight against these elements work with them.
Accept, modify ,adapt, change direction and or seek help
