Hi folks

Just had a thought that inspired me, and I feel like expressing it. It is said that God can't exist because we can't see Him.

So my question is: Does love exist?

Hi folks!

Last week or so I've been experimenting to ascertain how much hate I find in the blogs. I admit I use the term "hate" in a very broad sense. I guess I'd say anytime even a hint of animosity or bigotry towards any group or per appears, or anything biased and demeaning of anyone else as "hate". It's just more convenient for me to lump all those things under one category, and they all a part in the breakdown of civility and any chance of finding common ground among us.

I make no claims to be perfect. And I can't promise I won't quit trying to promote civility. But for now, 's my objective.

A couple days ago I was encouraged because I found much less hate on my own blog posts than I had anticipated. I felt very good about .

But today, I decided to check where I've been quoted and found a lot of the same hate. On reflection I guess I understand why those individuals chose not to attack so intently on my own blog. They may have assumed I would delete their comments, and I can't guarantee I wouldn't have. Every case is different.

But I chose not to bother responding to those comments on the other blogs, because just no longer in the mood for pissing matches, and I sense was what they wanted. Such things may or may not include valid and relevant points of discussion, but it all gets lost when people aren't in a position to agree because we are insulting each other, and all of us are naturally compelled to save face.

Anyway, just so folks know, at least for the time being insisting others do as trying to do in regards to civility and respect, or I probably won't respond all. I'll continue to do my best to be civil and respectful, but here or on other blogs I often going to politely disagree when appropriate, or may respond simply I sense a degree of animosity or hostility in the comments or questions posed to me and refuse for rea to respond further.

If we insult, denigrate, or humiliate another, we will never give them the opportunity to consider our point of view anyway. And if they are attacking us, we naturally find it impossible to consider theirs.

If common ground is to be found, we have to provide a way for those we disagree with to save face in those situations where we turn out to be right. Otherwise they have no opportunity to say anything akin to "You may have a point" or similar comment. Likewise, if we are too adamant and have been insulting of others, we box ourselves into a corner we can't back out of without facing humiliation on those occasions when we turn out to be wrong.

hoping and asking more of us learn to offer those we disagree with the opportunity to consider our viewpoints and accept them if they are good, or least respect our differences without attack so we are free to agree to disagree.

Just felt like expressing my current feelings on the matter. Sorry it took so many words.

Hi folks!

Some of u probably figured out that I was up to something with my latest blog entries and you'd be right.

I'd hoped to demonstrate that there are some in here whose hate goes beyond their ability to rea, and it could be shown by those who attack for no rea. To do that, I made statements that were basically impossible for anyone to refute, and that harmed or insulted nobody. Unfortunately I was right, but VERY FORTUNATELY it was nowhere near the amount of hate I anticipated!

A few weeks ago, on FB, I caught it in myself where I was getting a sick thrill from frustrating a per there whom I often disagree with politically. I felt ashamed of myself and decided I was gonna try to do better, and avoid attacking people who don't attack me first. I may still disagree but I'll try to remain civil about it.

In my "experiment" (for want of a better word) in SFF blogs, very few really showed me any hate, and I think that's a good sign because hopefully if we can learn to disagree without insulting or humiliating one another, then perhaps we can more often find common ground.

I'm happily disappointed that my predictions about the hate in the blogs turned out much less than I anticipated! I'm enthused!

Hi folks!

Just felt in the mood to share some thoughts I've had about God over the years. I believe God exists, and I believe God both created and continues to interact with the universe. But as to some of the more common concepts of God, no matter how orthodox or Biblically (or other holy book) based they may be, I don't think any of us can fully comprehend Him. (I use the traditional masculine pronoun simply for convenience and my aversion to useless political correctness.)

And I suppose it applies even to atheists, who have a concept, even tho they reject it. In their case I can't argue against their logic. Their concept is limited to what they've heard from others, who only have a limited ability to conceive of Him themselves, and in that light they may be wise to reject it I think.

But, I think how we define, describe, and conceive of God in our minds is limited to the limitations of our minds. I think on the question of God, mankind is analogous to a single-celled protozoa trying to grasp and explain the Space Shuttle. I believe God must be so far beyond us in His comprehension we can never (certainly not in this lifetime) fully grasp or understand him.

Today, some theoretical physicists postulate the universe may be a living organism. would imply it possesses will. Other physicists have proven the existence of the Higgs-Bo particle, which seems to pop in and out of existence randomly.

I've come to feel at this point, God is the universe, and God is existence. The force in or of the universe which is the only thing capable of existing by it's own volition, or for causing something to exist. For now, 's the best capable of conceiving Him to be. (Ironically, it was only later I recalled the stories in Exodus in which God is reported to have called Himself "I AM ".)

Oh well. It's stuff like this makes a heretic among my fellow Christians. LOL

Just some idle thoughts, so thanks for reading and I'd be interested in whatever comments folks may have.

Hi folks

I'm still intrigued by the animosity I c in the political blogs here, and all across the country. And it occurs to me, that if the Russians did interfere with our election process, maybe this is all they wanted to happen in the first place? By becoming so divided, could we have played right into Putin's hands?

Just speculating.

An observation on how we may have reached this point

Hi folks

Been snooping around a bit in the blogs again lately, and I notice that on the political side there is still a lot of hate and bias from both sides. I think it probably goes back a long time, and is largely due to some of the same mistakes that humans often tend to repeat.

I think it's mainly because too often when we phrase a viewpoint, or disagree with one, we don't leave the other party a way out of the difference that won't also entail insulting themselves and their own integrity or intelligence. We often get caught up in the desire to humiliate and crush those we disagree with, and forget to respect them enough to let them agree when possible. Once u humiliate someone or back them into such a corner that they can't save face, there is just no way they are willing, or even capable of seeing your side.

And I've never met anyone who agreed with me due to any insults I threw at them or humiliation I put them thru. They ALWAYS remember, and are the first to retaliate when the opportunity affords them.

If we think we can impress by being intellectual snobs, we open ourselves up to the same humiliation when we are wrong.

Ultimately, people quit considering the merit of any views we share, and instead are focused on attacking us perally out of some grudge.

Just my opinion.
