"Cee Dee's Nashville Bash," 2015: Memorial Day Weekend:

Friday, May 22, through Monday, May 25: (Some may stay over the entire Memorial Day, till Tues morning on the 26th to avoid traffic.)

Guesthouse Inn
2420 Music Valley Drive,
Nashville TN 37214
(SFF won't allow me to include the phone number)
Book rooms under “Cee Dee's Nashville Bash”

Theme for the Nashville Bash is Rock N Roll, but costumes are optional.

Room Rates are 81 dollars Plus tax,
Free Shuttle from Airport,

There will be a 25 dollar registration Fee in advance,
Cut off date is May 15. After that it will be 35 at the door.

Contact Yellowduck for mailing instructions on the Registration Fee.
(I didn't post his address here because I don't have his permission. Perhaps he'll post it in the comments, or you can contact him individually.)

On another FB page I made a comment to some SFF friends about the Nash Bash, and I'd like to share it here in case anyone is interested. Maybe some folks on the fence about going will appreciate this info. Did some searching and calculating, and figured out that coming from Detroit I'd be willing to swing out of my way as far as 180 miles east or west, on my way to Nashville, but that's the max and if I'm doing that for one person, I can't go that far in the opposite direction to pick up anyone else. Just letting folks know in case that helps them decide if they want to go or not. (Fannie, take note If u live further E or W of that distance, I'd be willing to meet u to pick u up if u can get within that distance. (180 miles is about the distance from Nashville TN to Knoxville TN.) I can reasonably expect to get an average 12 MPG with my truck, so for that 180 miles it should translate to about 30 bucks for gas at $2.00/gallon. And cos I'm a nice guy and just want to see folks make it to the Bash, I'd only charge you half of that. ($15.00 based on the extra E or W miles, but then another half of the rest of the N and S miles of the distance u ride with me one way. --Again, Fannie take note: That would mean since u are on about the same latitude as Nashville, you would not owe for any N or S mileage. So if you can get to, or near, the same longitude as Knoxville, thereafter ur gas costs would be for E and W miles only, and thus a total of $30.00; $15 there + $15 back)

Hi folks

I don't post here as much as I used to in the past. Not because of past or present differences with other bloggers, which although can be annoying at times, is not enough to stifle my enthusiasm.

I'm a bit annoyed by people who feel they have to post a dozen blogs a day rather than consolidating their views into a single daily account or two, but that's not the biggest drawback either. (Altho it's close.)

I'm just too often bored with the predictability. Both in the original posts, and the responses.

I've been guilty of it too. Very often we can't let go of past differences and move onto more recent topics. And too many of us become trolls. (We hold grudges and actively seek out opportunities to jump on any post or comment by an adversary, and attack them with or without reason, whether it is relevant to the topic at hand or not.)

Too many of us can't cede a point when those we view as the opposition are correct. Instead we twist and maneuver, instead of admitting that the other person has a valid point. Or we dredge up some irrelevant ancient history to use against them. (Altho, if the other person has just insulted us, remaining objective about the topic is rather hard for most of us to do.)

It just gets boring. We know what to expect from each of us, so why bother reading? Arguments are predictable and just repeatedly go round and round for years with the same old refrains we've all heard before.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

It just occurred to me this afternoon, after reading some old blogs, that if the worst thing one can complain about me is my tradition of closing with "GBU", then that fact implies the necessary existence of a couple logical deductions:

#1, Obviously you are really desperate to find something with which to complain about me.

(Beyond that fact, I can venture no certain further insight about you. However, I must say that I'm disappointed. The truth is, were you not blinded by some desperate personal grudge and/or raging hate, then you could do much better than that trivial complaint. More on that in a moment.)

#2, (Here it gets dicey) Further, that failure on your part might lead people to deduce that I must be an EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD person!

(See the obvious problem???!!! Come on! Give me a break! You can do MUCH better than that! You, and everyone else who knows me, is aware that I am OFTEN a real JERK! We are ALL jerks sometimes, and I'm one much more often than most other people!

Sometimes I'm obnoxious.

Sometimes I'm lazy.

Sometimes I'm a slob.

Sometimes I'm inconsiderate.

Sometimes I jaywalk and litter.

Sometimes I've fantasized about killing people.

Sometimes I care about my faults.

More often I don't.

Like every other mortal, I sin enough for God to condemn me before I even open my eyes in the morning!

Jesus Christ Himself told young Nicodemus(?) not to refer to Him as "good". If Christ on Earth was incapable of being truly good, then it's absurd to think I can! I may strive, but I'm not fooling myself nor letting others lay a guilt trip on me for being nothing more than human.

My point is, if that's the worst complaint you have about me, your pettiness is showing both your desperation and your weakness. You're losing credibility.

And as to your feelings on the matter, I just don't care. I'm gonna continue to ask God to bless you. That's because I try (TRY) to extend love to everyone, and even to enemies!

But to clarify, here's another fault: I DON'T care enough about you to hate you. So I absolutely get neither satisfaction nor distress if hot coals are burning on your head. I'm apathetic in that regard. (It's a Biblical thing, in case anyone is interested. And to be honest I never really understood those passages until I started blogging here. Now it's very clear to me. But it's still nothing very exciting for me.)

Hi lulu,

I just wanted to tell you that I've enjoyed many of the pics you've posted recently. I know we've had differences in the past, but please know that I'm not being sarcastic when I pay you an honest compliment.

GBU, (no sarcasm here either)

Quoting XXXXXXXX:
(After I'd closed a comment to another with my traditional "GBU")

"Two blessings in one post....how magnanimous of you........you are obviously using the first blessing to say "bite me"........so how are we meant to take the GBU.......surely you don't expect to take one blessing as sarcasm and one as sincere.....I have always known that you used GBU as a taunt, this only illustrates the level of your insincerity............EUWWW!!!!!
LOL XXXXXX!"

My response:

How kind of you to share your opinions and interpretations of my motives!

I'll take ur opinions under advisement. and file them appropriately,

Many thanks and GOD BLESS YOU (very sincerely)

Gavin

Another comment by another person on that same blog entry:

"Gavin is one of those holier than thou types that is adept at using his religion to engage in unchristian like behavior. He must be forgiven for his state of denial.

Aside from that he does stink to high heaven."

My response:

XXXXX, please stay out of my dirty laundry. You're leaving a foul odor that is difficult to wash off.

Please know that I've often tried to see things from your point of view, but I find it impossible to stick my head up ur azz. So please keep your nose out of mine in the future? U'r leaving a foul smell there too.

GBU,

Gavin

LOLOL! Had to make a blog out of those two comments and my responses!

Reason being is that I WANT folks to know that I'm definitely NOT a "holier than thou" person, and don't make claims to being holy in any way at all!

Most of you know I'm a Christian, but I do NOT fit in to any
Christian stereotypes. That's why those who try to nutshell me like that tend to fail. And that happens whether they are Christian, Atheist, or some other religion.

It is my calling as a Christian, to let people see that Christians are not necessarily "good" people. I do that so they are free to consider TRUE Christianity for themselves, and not feel they'd have to become phonies if they should choose Christ. So, if you see me being crude, or committing other human foibles, thanks for noticing and I hope you now understand that "knowing them by their fruits" is not confined to their "good" or "moral" words and deeds alone.

And the truth is, I ALWAYS SINCERELY hope God blesses people! And I leave HOW He chooses to do that up to Him! Often, that may mean He blesses them in ways they wouldn't have chosen for themselves. So, I will wholeheartedly agree that sometimes my "GBU" is a taunt, but it's ALWAYS sincere!

Just hoped some folks better understand where I'm coming from now, and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Gavin.

With all the bickering in the blogs recently, none of which I understand or know many details, I'm reminded of a couple years ago when I was routinely viciously attacked in here.

Now, that never happens.

What's wrong?

DON'T YOU GUYS LOVE ME ANYMORE????!!!

Hi folks,

Just putting out the word that I plan to attend the Nashville Bash this coming Memorial Day weekend, and am open to sharing driving and/or rooming expenses with anyone interested.

I should mention that I tend to keep weird hours, and am a smoker. (Probably won't matter because I assume the hotel probably requires me to go outside if I want to light up.)

I should also mention that the shared driving needn't be both ways. (If you arrive with me you don't have to leave with me.)

I have no gender preferences, cos I'm gonna be sleeping alone in my OWN bed anyway! LOL! --Just hoping to cut costs, so I'm leaving what remains of my feeble libido at home to reduce the weight I'll have to haul. LOL! Altho all you ladies are welcome to enter my dreams and do as u will. LOL!

My plan is to leave Southeastern Lower Michigan on Friday late morning, and arrive in Nashville between 5 and 8 pm. I'll be staying Friday thru Monday, and leaving for home on Tuesday morning no later than check-out time.

If you are interested in sharing all or part of the expenses, please let me know.

Thanks and GBU all,

Gavin

Hi folks,

I've posted a link on my page (Gavin Lee Sutherland) on the Book of Faces. That will lead anyone who is interested, to where they can check out my music. If you go there, I'm very complimented that you make the effort, and I hope you hear something you like. Most are downloadable for free if you want.

Thanks and GBU all,

Gavin
