I never drempt this project would take so long nor be so tedious.. Over several days this "Martha Stewart" undertaking stretched out.

You might remember me purchasing these shelves at a thrift store for cheap. I gilded them allowing the paint to dry over night.

I selected a piece of pink marble. This type of marble is very fragile and needs special care when working with it.

I found an old saucer to use as a template. The oval shape working well to cut from the marble.

I carefully selected the area I desired for the first cutting. Plenty of pink along the edge piece for the first cutting.

Roger this is the diamond imbued blade I mounted to cut with on the table saw. It is very challenging and time consuming to cut an oval .

I used a belt sander to even out the edges and remove the saw marks.

Good old Elmer's glue would hold the marble in place.

I used a special "Finishing" screw to hold the shelves in place after allowing an over night's drying time.

There was a special "bare spot' that just called out for the shelves to be placed hung there. Carefully attaching the shelves in place. The small vases were a gift to me by a dear friend many years ago.

Martha Stewart would be so proud of me!

Yesterday my pain level was so bad JD took me into the ER. The Doctor gave me a shot , JD carried me into the house, and I slept 22 hours.

It's now 39 F... 4* F outside after a day of misty rain. One project I managed to accomplish. Getting my sweet potatoes early into water for them to sprout.

In the past my tooth picks got broken getting banged about on the countertop. I decided to use shortly cut copper wire and wide mouthed jars. Guess we'll see how this works.

After taking care of business Friday I went rummaging.

The only item I seen and bought was this flower pot.

Plastic small,. however, only a quarter.

My long awaited project is about finished

I cut out the support blocks for the cattle panel

I went a little overboard and used lag bolts to hold the supports together.

Then I painted them with white paint.

An item that initially didn't cross my mind.. the need for blocks at the bottom to keep the wind from bashing the cattle panel against the side of the building.

Then I hung up the cattle panel to the side of the shed..

I knew exactly what I wanted to plant; Pole beans, Peas, carrots and beets.

Here's the layout.

Then came the tough part.... hand tilling the soil with a potato fork. Deep tilling where the carrots and beets are to be planted.

Laying down heavy black roofing felt I held it in place with some boards, cinder blocks, and bricks. The tilling is completed waiting for the soil temperature to be about 60 degrees. We also have a cold front moving in over the weekend. It is still a bit early for North Iowa.

I am so glad it is just down to planting the seeds. This took way longer, with more setbacks than I ever imagined. My desire for fresh veggies took a toll on me, more Oxys, and pain meds to get it done, however picking fresh green beans and shelling home grown peas, not to mention the beets and carrots to dig later in the summer season.

April 11 marks many years since JD & I got together.

This afternoon JD rolled his Ram in the ditch. They checked him over in the hospital then released him. I helped him into the house and tucked him into bed. The whole passenger side of the truck was smashed as was the roof. I can't post a picture since they had it towed away while I was with JD in the hospital. Ronnie and I had to feed the cattle and horses.. I made him a dish he requested for dinner Bacon, Cornbread, with real home made Maple syrup.

I've had a busy day working outside; JD had to pitch in and help me move some stuff that was just too heavy for me to do. The framed picture above I'd picked up in a Thrift store for $1. It has stymied my efforts at every corner. I've put a new blade in my X-O knife and I brought in the Drummel in the event the knife does not work. We have a 50% chance of rain in the over night which might thwart my gardening plans.
