Not every ear of sweet corn is a perfect roasting ear. It is necessary to go back through the rows to pick the "leftovers" and make the most of them by canning or freezing. For me right now freezing is the easiest method.

Some of the ears are ok... you just have to trim around the bugs.

]

Other ears are small "scrubs" with just a few bites of corn available.

When you have all the sweet corn trimmed from the ears.it is time to guess how much sugar, salt, and water to add in order to cook the kernels.

About mid-way through the cooking I could tell I needed a bit more water.

I bring the corn to a good solid, full, rolling boil for about 15 minutes.

I turn off the heat allowing to corn to cool to room temperature before bagging it for the freezer.

JD just wanted a steak and baked potato. I'd picked up crab salad for myself at the store along with a yam that I made into zesty fries .

I have one of those sweet "Granny" type renters in my main complex. Rent always a day ahead of time. The smell of cookies & bread waft into the hallway from her end of the building.....

She called me personally on my work phone "I Have water running across my floor can you help? " Yes Ma'am! I'll be right over !" <My Guy Martin would normally handle this.... however, he is doing the work of three men right now and had to take his sweet mom into the Doctor and her English is not the best.

The trickle of water causing her consternation came from a defective waterline to her washing machine.... Down into the shop workbench... 3 of them right there waiting to go into service....Granny's Consternation solved! I charged her a sugar cookie!

I'd picked up these medallions at a thrift store a few weeks ago. I didn't care for the black and copper motif so I'd play a Martha Stewart on them.

I gave them tWo thick coats of a white semi-gloss paint. Then started in "dry -brushing" various shades of gold onto the raised areas. I had to come back with the white several times to correct my brush strokes.

Here's the finished product and up on the wall in the Beemer Pad.

Remember that row of string beans I'd planted along the side of the mower shed?

I already had corn on the cob planned for dinner but the beans needed harvesting.

Corn cooked, dinner eaten, and out of the way; I washed, cut, and jarred up the yellow beans, added a teaspoon of salt then filled the jar with boiling water. With a dry towel to protect my hand I tightened down the rim holding the lid on the jar.

I do T*WO hours in a hot water bath in my pasta pot since I only have the one jar on a back burner. This should cook and sterilize the beans to preserve them for the winter months. I just turned off the burner and allowed the water, pot, and jar to cool overnight.

Here it is after the cool down a jar of yellow string beans preserved for next winter's dining.

I've been a little "OFF" the whole day having to start out needing medication. I've done some paperwork, painted on the medallions, Washed a couple loads of laundry, and filled a claim with the FCC for a refund check from a Judgement fund. We've been on the edge of an unsettled storm front most of the day catching a few sprinkles here and there. I am not feeling very good at all and need to lay down.

My 1PM meeting went very well and I got the job, as well as, a future landscaping project. This adds a few more shekels to the income.

As you can see in the photo our corn is getting stressed by the lack of rain right at tasseling time. When corn is stressed the leaves are pointed skyward so any rainfall is caught by the leaves and directed down the stem to the root zone.

Working on the medallions.
