I swear... this is the last Christmas decoration I am putting up this year...... I had the grape vine wreath and just added some seasonal touches then mounted it to the side of the mower shed facing the road....

That old $5 derelict dresser I purchased for $5 is now all sanded ready to be primered in then a coat of white enamel with Venetian Gold trim.
All the drawers have been re-glued and repaired with the broken or missing pieces replaced.
The missing rails were held in place by staples.... as luck would have it I just happened to have some.

Last night I put together a batch of cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting.....
For a special added touch.... Grated orange zest!

I am so happy to have JD HOME and being DONE with Harvest I made us a special "Summertime" meal. I marinated some T-bones for the grill then made a stir-fry of baby potatoes, carrots, celery, zucchini, green and red peppers.

I spent the day slaving over a hot stove.... I made a Chicken and wild rice soup to die for.
Chicken, celery, carrots, wild rice and white rice simmered most of the day.

The temp hovered around the freezing mark the whole day here. Cloudy, windy, overcast...
A drizzle studded with icy BB's peppered any exposed skin here. The only good thing out of today is JD called a little bit ago and thinks we will be done harvesting by mid afternoon tomorrow. ....

Our poor old Great Pyrenees; Ruby tripped or stumbled and fell down the stair steps to the basement. I have given her pain meds. If you get a moment say a prayer for her recovery.

I enjoy the outdoors both hunting or just watching... Most of you probably know the Canada Goose. Beautiful bird, great roasted, currently in season for North Iowa Hunters.
This afternoon while putting the final touches on our Christmas lights the Largest Flock I'd ever seen in my life went over. THOUSANDS of them. Laughingly I Did take cover under the porch till they cleared the area.... Goose poo is a disgusting splatter.
JG & Max managed to down 3 of them while they visited us over T-day.

Alex and I found ,many special treasures while out rummaging in the antique shoppes and Thrift Stores.
One item in particular peeked my attention all the way from London England. Directly from the London Silver Vault!
Percy's of the London Silver Vault.... You have to ask yourself....
HOW does a silver tray get from a London Silver Smith to Frigid North Central Iowa?
Not very big... only silver plated.. I screwed up and started in polishing it before I thought to get a picture of how gummed up and tarnished it was.
The back side gave little clue that it was silver either.
The crud and tarnish was so thick you could not read any printing within the trey. HOWEVER.......... For a Quarter............ yaaaa *25* cents...... the fourth part of a dollar... I got a silver trey from Percy's of London !

Alex is a bad influence on me when it comes to squandering money frivolously on items we really don't need.
ok............ $5 is not going to break the bank this crapped up chest of drawers just needs a sanding down and to be repainted to look fresh and good again.
The dovetailed joinery is of the highest quality in the solid wood construction.
The drawers are amazingly clean just needing to be wiped out. Just the cabinet's exterior needs cleaning up and refreshing.
