With Saint Valentine's Day approaching I dug out my Cupid print in it's exquisite frame. I'd picked it up at a "Thrift Store" for what is probably an exorbitant price for "second hand" but it's deep red tones go so well in the Parlor catching the Oriental rug and other accessories so well.
Rosie got a little nervous when I took down Napoleon and hung up Cup[id.

For those who visited JD's Birthday Blog JD39s Birthday I mentioned he was born on Kaiser Wilhelm II's birthday too.
I recently won a silver 1913 5 Reichsmark coin about the size of our old silver dollars. The Emperor is on the front.
The old Imperial eagle is on the back. The important item marked by the red arrow is the loop soldered to the coin I CAN WEAR IT ON A CHAIN!
I had an old 1980ish picture frame I could redo to fit my purpose.
Using a gloss black spray paint I gave the frame 3 coats of paint. Remember my blog on Black Hills Gold ~~~ Foto Friday Project ~~~ Using green and red latex paint and an oil based gold I achieved the color mix to replicate the blending I desired.
After removing a section of cardboard a little bit larger than the coin I glued some black felt to the face.
I know the picture is a bit blurry, however, I cut a slit in the back with an exacto knife then pushed the hoop through catching it with needle nose pliers.
Using a safety pin I secured the coin in the recessed space of the felt.
The old coin is now secured in the frame. Yet I may remove it easily to wear on a chain any time I wish to.

I am going to try to replicate this art form by mixing an oil based gold paint with water based colored paint on an old 1980's (ish) picture frame. Should be interesting if it turns out. .... Never tried it before..... IF I screw it up I can always gild it and cover it up OR toss it in the fireplace !

Brrrrrrrrrr it's -14 C .... 6 F in North Iowa !
We had "Sundogs" that halo around the sun this morning. Sundogs are relatively rare occurrences, and they can only be seen in certain conditions. They require a high sun angle, cold temperatures, and light cirrus clouds that contain millions of plate-shaped ice crystals. I pulled on a sweater under,my sport-coat this morning.

JD put in a request for my hamburger stew. He wanted homemade bread but I just couldn't fit it into my schedule. With his birthday Friday I thought "What the heck" and made a HUGE kettle of it. I lost track of how many bowls he had... *** hangs head in shame *** I ate *three* bowls.
Hamburger, home canned tomato juice, potatoes, onions, carrots, celery, and peas all simmered for the afternoon.
All tuckered out from playing "puppy" out in the snow Ruby just laid quietly while we ate dinner thinking we might drop something from the table. JD eats like Henry VIII tossing food to MUTTs Inc.

Ruby is our big fluffy Great Pyrenees who is *ten* years old... extending her lifespan beyond the norm. Today outside was a "Puppy day" Running about eating snow.

The whole day I was busy from one thing to the next. Dinner ended up being Goulash in just a bowl eaten in the TV room. The clouds parted long enough for us to hit 33 F ~~~ 1 C.
