Winter closes In

I have spent a good summer in peace and solitude the bay. Fishing and relaxing with the dogs has done good. Now, I find myself with a choice, go back or stay? If I stay I will stock and hunker down. Much like a fat old bear in his burrow, I will lumber about and nap.
I think I have reached an age where a quiet life is not a punishment. The outside world is filled with riots, protests, politicians and Covid 19, not much incentive go back.
Hope Y' are staying well. If I don't make it back down the mountain before then, Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.

Since Joe broke his leg over a year ago, and has had other issues, including a broken arm that is still healing, we have had to make adjustments to our life and activity levels. And on top of that, we have had to adjust to the deaths of several loved ones.
We always said we would go and do while we could, and then settle down to a quiet peaceful life with our memories, just did not realize how suddenly that time would come. You are right, a quiet life is not a punishment, but I've had a difficult time adjusting mentally and emotionally, but I've finally come to grips with it. Winter is usually a time that we stayed home the most, too many dangers out there, like bad roads, bad weather, slippery walking, and flu and colds. This winter will be about the same for us.
Another thought came to my mind as I read your title.... the winter of our lives is also closing in. A quiet life now can be a reward, a real blessing,. Enjoy your winter, where ever you chose to spend it.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Earthy looks like he lives in Michigan...so guess snow would be on its way. I'm not going anywhere for Christmas this year because of Covid. Thanksgiving was on the 12th so do not have to worry about it anymore. We may or may not have snow but for the most part we will get a lot of rain. Lots of brilliant colors of fall now. I guess we will have a long winter because of Covid hanging around. When the weather is bad I stay in and I am quite content to do that.
Keep safe Marshall!

We live in middle Georgia so we rarely have snow. When we do it is gone in a short time, usually 15 minutes or maybe an hour.

No snowmen or snowwomen in our yard.

ET I can't imagine losing your first child and especially to Covid. So sad to hear about thigs like this and especially someone you know. As far as I know no one in my family has got hit with the virus but then I am not in touch with a lot of family members and especially the ones who are scattered across the USA. Unless they are on FB I am not in touch with them. In some ways I am glad my oldest sister is gone now with this Covid thing. When she was alive she had congestive heart failure and it wouldn't have been a good thing for her.
