Songs That Bring Back Memories.

Do you ever find yourself daydreaming and a song/tune from your past pops into your head. Do you ever stop and think about that particular time in the past and what that song at that time had effect on you. I certainly do. Back when I was a , my first girlfriend was named Suzanne. Every time I hear a "SUE" tune from then...I think about her. Like 'Peggy-Sue, Sorry Suzanne, Billy and Sue, Runaround Sue and Susie Darlin. Later I was engaged to a 'Caroline', so Sweet Caroline, Oh Carol, and others pop into me at times. I joined the Army at age 20 and most music for my first was all military. Then, in 1971 I went SVN, and thanks American Armed Forces Radio, my on music completely changed. I was introduced everything from KISS Queen, C.C.R. and Fleetwood Mac. And that's where my music interest lies now. I still am reminded of tunes from my past. What about YOU? What comes mind when YOU hear a tunes from YOUR past? Let us all know!

The songs from the 50's mean the most to me and have the most memories to me .I was going steady (that was the term then) with my future hubby and our song was ," Smoke gets in your eyes" by the Platters.....I still love all the songs they sing. I love lots of now songs and lots from the 60's and 70's lets just say I love them all........music soothes the soul. I tend to cry sometimes when I hear certain songs.....but that's just me. I'm a romantic!

Music has a way of triggering emotions, so it just stands to reason that songs would trigger memories and the emotions associated with them.
There are several from the 60s that bring back great memories of times with my late husband, just as there are some newer songs that are special to Joe and me. Some songs also bring to mind fun times with SFF friends at bashes and get togethers when we listened to a favorite band or some of us sang karaoke.
Some songs bring smiles, but some also bring tears, like the two favorites that my oldest son and I shared a liking for: Cat's in The Cradle and That's My Job.

As a dance teacher and former competitor/performer, songs for me usually bring back memories of the partner I was dancing with and/or the place where we were dancing to the song. "Rainbow Connection" brings me back to a dance hall in a suburb south of Boston, waltzing with my favorite partner. "As Long as I'm Singing" puts me back in the arms of my coach, performing a fun, upbeat quickstep.

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

Nothing like songs to trigger memories of happy and sad times.I often find myself crying when I hear certain songs, they evoke memories of loved ones that are
no longer here.

I love to be transported back to the great sounds of the 60s, to my happy carefree days of youth. There were so many brilliant British groups back then, we were spoiled for choice. I loved the Four Tops from Detroit , fantastic Motown Group.

Nice blog.

I loved all the songs broadcasted by AFN, a radio station of the American Forces Network that operated in occupied Germany. They made me dream in the 50s of a world far away. Also, French Chansons that have a touch of melancholy.........
Unfortunately, my teenage years did not know any party weekends with wild dances, etc....... that was only fantasies in my mind.

Back in the 60s, after a great failed first love, there were three songs (in Spanish) that made me cry every time I listened to them: "Quiéreme mucho", "Nosotros" and "Contigo en la distancia ". Sometimes I dared to sing them, but the feeling was very strong for my wounded heart ... Afterwards, I opted to listen to only instrumental music by great orchestas .

Music - I very much like the description of how stars 'all cycle and spiral in their courses to the accompaniment of the music they create; that every force in the universe, be it the most minute or the mightiest, sounds forth a sacred song, that this is the Word, which was 'in the beginning''.

Being 82 at present I have seen Many changes in music over the years . But as many of you have reminded me of is there are still many tunes that bring both fond an yes some sad memories back to me. I listen to a lot of music an i think the late 40s thru 50s an early 60s was the best . But of course that's only MY opinion. An i dont consider music.. Thanks for letting me in to express my opinion
