*~* Bugsolutely *~*

Today I read an article about new products capturing the markets, that are made with all kinds of insects. School meals with edible bugs are the latest idea to feed the . I searched for more information, found images of meals and recipes.......

These 'creepy' grubs are actually what the future food will be like. Will the masses grab it? Insects have the potential to reduce the environmental impact created by traditional production of meat. That's what 'they' say.

Another subject occupied my mind today: From May to October the cattle stay in the alpine pasture in Bavaria (Germany) for outdoor grazing. In the fall the farmers lead the animals back from the high altitude down to the valleys. That's what it was like hundreds of years. This year the animals have to be loaded on trucks to get down. Reasoning: emission of methane gas! LOL

my seek, if others like bugs. i say go for it. as for the methane gas thing.

cows would hardly be a main source of FARTS. to me it would be from the creatures that form the largest masses, aka humans.

trying here to be proper and nice. but that would mean the ones mostly full of excrement.

Oh MySeek...I can't imagine eating all those bugs. That last photo of the bugs and pasta is most disgusting. I have watched cooking shows on the food network where they cook with bugs.

SOMEHOW I JUST PLAIN DO NOT APPROVE OF ALL THOSE NEW IDEAS ABOUT FOOD. IF I HAD KIDS, I WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO HAVE LUNCH IN THE SCHOOL CANTEEN IF THEY WERE GIVEN INSECTS. AS IT IS, I AM ALREADY NOT TOO KEEN ON THE VEGETARIAN MEALS PROVIDED TWICE A WEEK. SOME KIDS GET THEIR ONLY PROPER MEAL AT SCHOOL AND SO NEED PROPER ANIMAL PROTEINS AS WELL AS OTHERS.

If you turned your kitchen into a bug kitchen, Alfie would become a regular guest in your favorite restaurant, I am sure. LOL

I want to gag when I see this being pushed as food for humans. Have you ever eaten an insect? I did, when I was still a teenager. I had a friend who ordered fried grasshoppers and she got me to try one. She was chowing down on them so I thought, what the heck, if she can eat them, go for it, so I did! That first crunchy bite left the worst taste in my mouth and I had to spit it out. Never going to try eating any kind of bug again, ever!

Think about this, if they take crickets and grind them up for food, everything inside that cricket, including poop, is going to be consumed.

Save the bugs for the birds!

It sounds funny, but it says a lot about those creatures that impose new rules on people. It's insane!

Can I take my bug and use it to go fishing and just have trout? Please? I am open minded about many things, but eating bugs (knowingly) is not one. although our government has a standard as to acceptable number of bugs, rodent carcasses, offal (google that) and feces, among other things that can be in our food.
one question, what makes eating one creature grosser than eating another? I have the same issues, I eat beef, but horse is a no. I am just curious as to what makes the difference.
My mother had a grasp on this....everything was either beef, pork, or chicken....no matter what it lived as

I agree, decisions are made that lack any logic.

Shartaun, never ever I'll give that kind of nutrition a try. It's an insult!

I agree with what you say, Archer. As a parent, I would take my kid out of such a school. But most parents cannot afford doing that. There is no other area where leftist ideologists have had such an opportunity to put their ideas into practice as in schools.

Wow, Nile, you were a brave teenager. I would NOT have tried once. I have read that there are numerous studies that stated that chitin can be toxic to the human body, and eating bugs has a high chance of introducing parasites into the human body that should NOT be there. Of course, the bug food industry opposes strongly.
As you say, birds need to find insects to reproduce.

The food/nutrition subject is very complex. It's not my fault, it's not your fault, but it is the "system" that makes people starve. Corporations, new regulations that kill farming, especially in the so-called 3rd world...... The world could do without the UN.

LOL Myseek, I tried all the weird food when I was a teenager, even the expensive foods that some people consider a delicacy. Caviar, snails, squid, etc... but one I actually thought was tasty was frog legs. They do taste like chicken but the texture of the meat is softer. I was lucky to have friends from all walks of life who introduced me to different foods. All in all, give me a nice juicy steak any day, even a hamburger will do. If people want to eat bugs, their choice to eat all the chit they can handle.

I wasn't thinking of the chitin as a kid, but I do now. amp;
