*~*~* Shikadamari*~*~*

In Nara, a city in Japan, it is not unusual to see groups of deer roaming around all year. They even seem to have learned traffic rules. If you visit Nara during summer, you will observe a mysterious phenomenon in the evenings. It is called "Shikadamari".

At sunset, around 6:30, large numbers of deer gather and rest at a certain spot in Nara Park, opposite the National Museum. More than 600 heads have been counted lately. After an hour, at 7:30 the animals get on their feet and leave, spreading in small groups in all directions of the area. This behavioural pattern occurs day after day in summer.

How "WOW" is that??? It would be beautiful to see.

To understand the deer, one must become the deer! Could it be that one of their kind is displayed in the Museum, and they want it to get out there?

My theory is that the deer are reincarnated Hippies......

Nobody has an explanation for this ritual during summer.

Interesting phenomenon. The brown markings of the deer herd resting in the park resemble shed autumn/fall leaves. Japan would be an interesting country to visit.

They feed them.
They show up in our neighborhood every morning about 6 to 7 AM.

After they give birth they separate from the larger group and keep the fawns hidden away.

The deer are not fed at the spot where they gather at sunset during the summer. To this day the behavior is a phenomenon.
