Photo Friday - Letter C

I am late, but it is still Friday! LOL

Photos:

1) Cats we bought at an estate sale.

2) A cleft Gene made from a left over piece of cherry wood.

3) to 8 ) Castle Katz (Cat) in Saint Goarshausen high above the River Rhine.

On both sides of the river there are many castles, most are refurbished
and open for visitors. On one side of a tower we saw a wooden staircase.
We walked up to the top to find out what was behind the door at the end.
When we opened the door, we were welcomed by a group of men who
enjoyed their after work happy hour with bottles of beer in the castle's armory.
Gene, the American, had to sit at the top of the table with one of the spiked helmets
on his head which were stored on an open shelve on the wall. LOL We had a great
time and learned a lot about the history of Castle Cat.....

I had a busy day, but I am glad I could add my Letter "C" presentation before midnight.

Everything he made from wood was perfect! He also made the tartar sauce when we had fish, the best I ever had. The Old Continent has a rich history......

My favorite is that carving of the cleft.... what a talent that took to design and carve, and what a treasure that is for you.
I've never seen a castle in person, but when I see pictures, I often wonder what it must have been like to live in one. It's hard to imagine the difficulty of it, with all the grandeur, but compared to our cozy homes, they don't look like comfort.

What a fun surprise behind the wooden door, a reward for having made the effort to climb to the top of the stairs, lol. You all look to be having fun

The elegant cherry wood clef would be my favourite also - your friend Gene did a beautiful job.

Wonderful set of pictures Myseek. I love visiting old castles, we have a great selection of castles here in Ireland to choose from. I love the cute little cat ornaments and the cleft, beautiful piece of workmanship by your friend Gene.

Loved your array of photos depicting the letter "C". I especially liked the wooden cleft that Gene carved. That is an unique piece. Germany is steeped in history with all of it's castles.

Enjoyed the pictures, especially the ones of the castle, great series of shots!

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Thank you for your visit, Alfie! That castle has "seen" a lot and suffered a lot over the many centuries. The UK has to offer many castles, too.

I had never seen a castle until Alfie took me to a couple when we were in England a few years ago.

One was York Castle and the other was Nottinghamshire Castle.

It was interesting watching all the steps until the clef took shape.
That castle was built in 1271. Throughout the course of history the owners changed several times and wars destroyed it partially. The main wing has been refurbished and visitors can walk into the rooms and imagine what life has been like at times long past.

Our curiosity was rewarded. The closer we came to the door we heard voices and laughter and then were surprised by the hearty welcome of that group of men. We enjoyed that nice ending of our castle tour.
The clef is a masterpiece!

Thank you, Maudi, for liking my C contribution. - Yes, Ireland has many castles, too.
I took pictures of one castle near Galway when I visited Ireland some years ago. I don't remember its name. That castle was well maintained!

The clef is a special piece in my collection, especially as I watched its "formation phase". You are right, Germany has a rich history with castles and cathedrals all over.
