*~*Shelter At Troubled Times*~*

Two days ago, my great-grandson was baptized at a protestant church in Bonn, Germany.
My granddaughter and her husband followed the family tradition at a time, where everything is taken down that shaped the country and the people. With this act the little boy will be admitted into the Kindergarden of that community in 2022.
It is a small step opposing "the new wave." Example: Officially parents are not called Mother and Father anymore. Now they are Parent 1 and Parent 2. Political correctness!

The ceremony on Saturday was plain and simple with only 5 adults allowed due to the virus, Mama, Papa, and the Godparents.

Bonn is the city where Beethoven was born 1770 and composed his music. Among other's "Ode To Joy" is one of his many compositions.

So it appears the push to eliminate the things that have shaped our cultures is not only in the USA, but throughout the world. I'm curious if this is happening in the countries that do not consider themselves Christian countries also?

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

The focus is on the Western World, Mrsjoe. Germany is already ahead of the US. The destruction is obvious. I listened to an interview with the American Professor William Toel who stated that Germany is the key country for many reasons. Several hours later the video was deleted due to censorship.

Myseek, I'm curious about the "political correctness" in the case if this Baptism. Is there a law in Germany requiring that Protestant Church to use the terms Parent 1 and parent 2? Or is the Church doing it voluntary? It's kind of important to the story in my opinion.

In the USA most of the political correctness appears to be driven by global business ... and their want not to exclude anyone's money.

Hallo dusty! Political correctness is the official term when you register the birth of a child. This has probably to do with Gender equality. I'll ask my granddaughter about the paper they get from the church about the baptism. Many words fell victim to "Newspeak." Example: Zigeunersosse, Mohrenkopf, Mohrenapotheke, a pastry called Amerikaner, is now black and white pastry, fairy tales fell victim, too, Eskimo is now Inuit. These are only a few examples.

In this case, it appears that the actions of the Protestant Church would be frowned upon by some and welcomed by some.

My question isn't about the definition of the term 'political correctness'. I'm curious about the motivation of the Church ... is the Church motivated by a government mandate? Or is the Church motivated by money, as in the money that can be made from 'all-inclusiveness'?

I don't quite understand what motivation you mean. The Protestant/Lutheran Church is one of the 2 main Christian Churches in Germany. Baptism is one part of the religion. No, the church is not motivated by money. For the Kindergarden my granddaughter has to pay when the little boy joins. All other Kindergardens in the country are not for free either. The one my granddaughter and husband have decided for, has a very good reputation. And, it is close to where they live.

I think people who are uncomfortable with social changes use the term "political correctness"

I know in Scandinavian countries, very few people go to church except for Marriages, funerals, Baptisms and Confirmation, which is around 14 year old in the Lutheran church. Even the ministers don't have the kind of magical beliefs that are common in the USA.....mostly it's about tradition and comforting ceremony. They register parents as parent 1 and parent 2 because there are so many non-traditional family groupings nowadays. There are 2 mothers or 2 fathers, and many children are adopted or born through medical sterilization or implanting etc.......It's been a long time due in my opinion. When my children were in high school......in the 90s, the phone calls from their schools would ask for Mrs. followed by the children's surnames. I corrected them every time and I told them it was time to change their approach to families for the sake of the children. I did not take my husbands name when I married......and why did they automatically ask for the mother. I wrote to the school about it and brought it up at a conference, but it wasn't until my children had left school that they started asking to speak to the child's "Guardian".........

OOPS!......I meant to say medical fertilization, not "sterilization"......

Thank you for the real nice comment, Tx. This little guy is growing up in a loving home where he can discover and test his skills. The latest joy he finds in music and dancing around. One grandpa is thinking about buying him a piano in a couple of years. LOL And he found a friend, a little boy next door. It is interesting to watch their interactions. With a little girl the same age he did not have a friendly experience. She did not share the toys and pushed him away. He walked away and does not get near her anymore. My daughter told me that teaching event. LOL

Tx, you made me laugh. LOL That little girl I mentioned, is the kid of my daughter's half-brother on her father's side. Maybe she saw in Fred a rival and made her point. LOL They don't see each other too often, but when it happens, Fred ignores her.

Thank you, Maudi, for visiting my blog. The photo shows my granddaughter next to the pastor, her husband, little Fred(i) and the woman who organizes church events.
My granddaughter would have liked more family members attending, but they made the best of it in this difficult situation.
