There are a number of factors driving the populist trend in the US.
One is the fear of many Whites that they will soon be a minority.

Thank you so much Rentier2........I had never thought of that but it makes sense since some folk give a lot of thought to that.

I had a cousin who married a Latino lady and he brought her to my home. She started a conversation about Black and Latino people and she told me that in a few years black folk would no longer be the largest minority that Latino people would be a bigger minority group in the USA than black folk. She seemed very pleased with herself but I really did not care and the way things are going I think she might be right.

Especially the White Christians.....The trend in the Southern states to create laws based on White Christian Fundamentalist rhetoric, like abortion, birth control, gender, even mixed race marriage, which made me laugh incredulously...Then there.is the mind-numbing stupidity of the CRT....That joke of a man, Ted Cruz going on about "Racist Babies" at KBJ's hearing.....Several of the Senators claiming that CRT is taught in public elementary schools, but never defining the term....and they are sure-as-shootin that everyone is either 100% male or 10% female and should be obliged to conform to all of "Society's gender trends, as if those trends are fixed.....I wonder what they think of RuPaul...

Hello Sparkle.....Thank you so much for your input. I am glad that you brought that out about the white Christians. You gave me enough food for thought and I understand now the reasons for some of the things that went on when Cruise and some of the others questioned Judge Jackson with such hate and stupidity.
Thank You....Oh lol I doubt that they even know who RuPaul is.

There are different kinds of racism.. but they all stem from differences....difference in color, differences in culture, difference in economics, and difference in religion, the difference in racism can be just one of these or all of these.
But in truth the main cause is power and control. Those that have it..fear they will lose it.
There is a purposeful accentuation of differences, to promote the conflict in power and control.
Differences is the key.. It is more created as an excuse than it is a reality.
People of different colors, economics, culture, and religions..are not really that different.
Black people, especially, have been characterized, more so than any group in america. There has been 200 years of misinformation and disinformation, about the life of a black person to accentuate differences.
None more so than the black woman...
People are unaware, they hold on to the characterizations.. Even those that call themselves liberals. They are not dismissed with a swipe of the magic wand...they are eroded by conflicting evidence.
It's a slow process.. but relatively....the conflicting evidence about Black woman has taken leaps and bounds. It wasn't so much that black women were bad, like the misinformation about black men.. It was that their lives lived in the "dark"
We only have a few generation to go.. before the evidence becomes overwhelming... and the light can be shined on the Black woman.
Beauty, intelligence, and compassion are at the forefront. Those who wish to maintain power and control through racist attitudes, can not put out that light.
Equality is not an absolute thing.. it's an attitude.

Hello Jiminy and thank you so much for your response. What you said really helped me with one part but there is another part that I hope you can shed some light on it. It seems as though there are a lot of people in the majority race who want to put 45 back in office but he seems to want to get rid of our democracy. I am scratching my head about this.............are they willing to have an autocacry so that they can still have their white privilege?
This is a public forum and if you think this question is a bit much. I will understand if you prefer not to respond to this one. Please forgive me if you think I have gone too far on this. The information that you have given me has helped me to understand a lot.

It seems to me that no matter who get nominated as Supreme Court Justice - who ever is the president's opponent, that Supreme Court Justice nominee gets torn apart. It's ridiculous. Ketanji Brown Jackson is qualified and needs to get in while some of those in the Senate need to get voted out and sent to pasture no matter what party they belong to.

Hello Starwoman.....Thank you for responding. I agree with you those that are nominated by the president do get torn apart but they took Judge Jackson to a higher level of racist, mean spirited stupidity. I agree we should have a law that says those politicians need to have term limits. I might add that there are a lot of good people Black White and Brown in this great country and I think one day there will be Liberty and Justice for all. It probably will not come in my time but it will in my Grandchildren's time.

The fight for equality...
Equality is not an absolute..... it's a attitude.

That attitude doesn't exist.

Society creates standards, those created standard are not real, for the most part, they are choices. Agreed choices are agreed truth and agreed truths create inequality...Once you buy into the agreed standards of intelligence, wealth, happiness, beauty, faith, religion, ideology, and morals. you create inequality..
It's a choice....and Everything becomes comparable.

Anyone who chooses different standards becomes a threat,...The inequality of the have nots to the haves.

The truth about religions, such as Christianity is to deny standards, and create equality.. in life itself.without comparisons. For Christianity, 2000 years has gone by.. an people have denied the truth. nobody wants the truth. Religions, like Christianity, couldn't sell the truth....so they sold a lie....People choose inequality..People choose the lie.

Inequality has two sides...less equal and more equal...both are at fault.

The more equal aren't really more equal..and the less equal aren't really less equal..unless you agreed to a standard that you are more or less equal. We measure possessions, intelligence, beauty as standards.. when the measure is more about common sense, happiness, love, and freedom of choice.
One measure doesn't guarantee the other.

Power and control come from creating standards.. And standards are created through inequality....

You know I'm not talking about the overt racists. Those people are the unequal. They are automatically unhappy with no chance ever to be happy. Their happiness comes from making YOU equal to them, not them equal to you.
Why would anyone ever allow that to happen.

Hugs, my dear Brightsmiles. It is fear that causes hatred, that causes racism, that creates violence. Weak people seek to destroy others to make themselves feel powerful. Strong people honor and appreciate the achievements of others and are empowered by them.
The world will truly be a better place once all humanity finally realizes all we need and really should want is for our families to be happy and safe. War is not required for this goal to be met. Hatred is counter productive.
I have read a lot of the comments and I believe that there is in America a huge fear of losing white power, especially among those who have been handed everything without ever earning it. I believe racism fades a little more every year and it scares the heck out of those who cling to it.
My Privilege it to know and love strong powerful men and women, brilliant minds and kind souls from every ethnicity, I am thankful for that.

in answer to the race thing. I am thankful my great grandparents came to the U.S. on the 1800s. Otherwise I might have been born in a German bomb shelter.

I just go with what life has dealt me and do the best I can. I assume everyone else does the same.

The world does not have to change for me to be OK. I just try to grab onto my piece of the action whatever it might be.
Party On!

Hello Twilight and hugs to you.I am so glad to hear that your privillege is to love folk no matter the color of their skin. I was fortunate to be taught in school to judge people by their character and not the color of their skin. My family taught me by example to not hate people because of the color of their skin.

I told the story of my parents in a blog a few years back...........My father was a sharecropper in Georgia and my mother was a teacher. The owner of the farm that my dad worked on could not read or write and he was white. When the owner of the farm got letters from his son who was in the army he would come over to our place and get my mother to read them to him. When my family got sick the owner would take them to the Docter in his car. My parents never taught us to hate the owner or anyone else because of the color of their skin.

Hi Brightsmile, I tend to think ignorance is behind much fear and hatred. Closer to home/US, Michael Moore's belief that 'ignorance leads to fear, fear leads to hate. Trump knew that' holds much merit, yes?

Bright perhaps you can help ME understand.

How am I more fortunate than you?

As an individual how has the system mistreated you?

We are almost the same age so in choosing a career how was it different for you rather than me?

If the system changed would it not change in the same way for both of us?

I was not going to respond but your comment has " made me do it ". A white baby has an advantage from birth over a black baby. It seems so evident to me that you must be blind not to see it. Bright has had to work 10 x's harder than I would have had if I were given her talent. I have seen it in everyday life and in the military. I often wonder how many changes a four star black officer had to make to prove himself. How many rules he had to conform to. I have seen it in the medical community and could give specific examples if anyone cares. I 'm sorry Bright if my outburst has upset you. We all bleed the same and all look the same when our guts are ripped open.

Hello Txjwo24................You live in Texas and I live in Georgia............If you know or are friendly with any Black folk there and are sincere in knowing just ask them what you just asked me. When my white friends ask me questions like that I am happy to explain it to them but most know because they live in this state. It would take a lot of typing here to explain it to you and i am not a good typist.. Rentier2 summoned it up and what he said is true. Please do not be angry with Cayman she has been in situations where she saw what I am talking about first hand.
