What I like about this time of year

I get to listen to Messiah a couple of times.
It's being aired on CBC Radio 1 as I am writing this.

Messiah was first performed in Dublin in the 1700's.
It originally meant for Easter.

There is a local church that has a performance of Messiah every year. They didn't do it this year. Seeing that performance was one of my favorite aspects of the holiday along with midnight mass, also cancelled. I am listening to Yanni instead. I'll wait to see Messiah live.

Rentier I am a huge fan of The Messiah. It is also one of the things I like about Christmas. I have been to see it a few times and of course the highlight of the Messiah is the Hallelujah chorus. Listening to that piece of music sends shivers up my back every time. Merry Christmas to you Rentier!

I can think of things I don't like about this time of year.... mainly the weather and the gross commercialization of the holidays, neither of which I can control. I think my dislike of the cold weather gets more intense every year.
But there are things I do like.... and the music is ne of the main things. All the way from the popular Christmas tunes, to the carols to the masterpieces like the Messiah.
Hope you had a good Christmas time.
