Interesting bit of WWII trivia Apparently the Canadians stole a German V2 rocket from the Brits. Farley Mowat, a well known Canadian author, was a Lt with Hastings And Prince Edward regiment - commonly known as the Hasty P's. I read his account of his WWII experience, but nowhere did he mention his transfer to intelligence towards the end of the war. At some point it was suggested to him to grab a V2 for Canada. The Brits had ten of them and they were well guarded. Mowat along with a pair of other officers and a large bottle of gin went to where the V2's were kept. While the gin entertained the British guards, they absconded with the only V2 that was still in decent condition. They brought it back to Canadian lines and disguised it as a midget submarine because the Brits were looking for it. It was eventually taken to Canada for rocket research. |

I forgot to mention that when they got it to Canada they drilled into the warhead and discovered it still had explosive in it.

Rent The thing about drilling into the rocket reminds me of one my early engineering experiments. I always wondered just how shotgun shells were constructed inside. On day when my dad was at work & mom was busy in the kitchen I sneaked one out into the garage & began taking it apart. I got everything out of the front OK but that plug in the back center was a problem. So I placed it in a bench vice -----took a hammer and a punch and proceeded with the removal. LOL PARTY ON!

Rent How do you Canadian guys make a living up there? Do they have cows, drill oil wells ? I understand they don't raise goats because it gets so cold it would freeze the balls off of the billys. LOL Party On!
