If But Only Once... The story behind this poem... It was written for a Lady that I loved very dearly. We met on the internet and over the course of a year, we fell in love. We finally met in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We spent the weekend together. That was the one and only time we ever saw each other. She still lives in SC but has since then gotten married and is very happy. We're still Friends and send little messages to each other from time to time. This poem is a tribute to that one special moment in time. Hope you enjoy. If but only once, I could hold you in my arms Kiss your sweet lips, Then my life would be full. If but only once. I could hold you hand If but only for a moment, That moment would last forever. If but only once, I could see your face, Look into your eyes, My soul would fly in an endless sea, And the light that shown there would guide me to the beauty of you. If but only once I could hear your voice, No song would ever sound as sweet. For in a place that was once dark, A light now shines. A place once dead, Life now reigns. A place once void of sound, A song now echoes. |
