Montreal En Hiver..... Paintings by Richard Savoie Peintre |

I spent the Summer of 1967 in Montreal......I rented a room in a house much like these.....My landlady had very little English, which she had learned from Irish nuns at school......I had 6 years of school French, but my teacher insisted we speak with a Parisian accent, so communication was awkward. I loved Montreal except for the subway, which I had to take every day....It was claustrophobic and repetitive......ugh.....That and I was very naive.......It took me a while to get used to the way the Quebecois men flirted.....but once I got used to it, I was hooked.....Ooh-lala those French men......

Two very different paintings, but both so very beautiful. I would love to walk down that lovely avenue when the flowers and trees are in full bloom. Even the snow looks very inviting.

I was intrigued with Montreal when I visited there many years ago.. The place I really liked was Quebec City. So much culture there. Interesting enough tonight on National news they had a small segment about Expo 67. There are remnants around still from Expo 67. Then on your blog you mention having been in Montreal in 1967. This area that you mention looks a little like old Montreal. I spent some time there.

THE WINTER SCENE REMINDS ME OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS WHEN THE WEATHER WAS HORRIBLE IN THE CHICAGO SUBURBS AND EVERYTHING WAS SNOWED OVER AND ICY. SOMETIMES THOUGH, IT WAS JUST DOWNRIGHT BEAUTIFUL.

Winter and Summer..... both pictures reflect the atmosphere of the "old" continent..... For many years I had an apartment in a building with the flair of past times. Thanks for sharing, sparkle........ the blog brings back memories. Happiness is when what you think, what you say, what you do are in harmony - M. Gandhi

There was this enormous welded steel, mechanical sculpture in the river..of a dragon.....it would slowly rise out of the water and breathe fire/roar...... I was taking courses at École des Beaux-Arts and shuttling between the two......It was a spectacular Summer steeped in art.....
