WHY ARE SO MANY NON-AMERICANS INTERESTED IN U.S. POLITICS?

..........I have answered this question numerous times on this site always asked by Republicans.......My answer usually involves the questioner's obvious lack of intellectual curiosity and/or imagination .........Or maybe just a chronic lack of self awareness.......It's odd though.....I mean, Americans are always demonstrating grotesque levels of braggadocio about their country.....stars and stripes on everything in sight.....believing that the Bald Eagle is an American bird.....that their country is the most powerful, has the most and best armed forces .......the biggest movie industry......which is true......The US does have the biggest and best equipped military......and the most lunatic politics.....a combination that draws the attention of the rest of the world........

"Your political system is designed to be entertaining. It's like a large game show that goes on for years. And the process highlights the lunatic elements. A candidate talked about the size of his penis in a nationally televised debate. That doesn't happen in other countries.

Your personalities are larger than life and just plain strange. The Republican Front-runner is nuts. The things he's proposing are positively insane and people are lapping it up. It's like the normal lunacy filters that the rest of us have aren't present in US politics. But even without him it's pretty nuts. Another republican seemed to believe that the pyramids were for grain storage. We love nutty stuff like that.

And finally when the lunacy ends and everything has settled down and the last vote has been counted, the person left standing is the leader of the free world and chooses our next war." The part in quotation marks is from a letter in Quora.....

Why wouldn't we pay attention?

Compare that to Canada, for instance....with a population of less than 40 million.....With sober, sensible politics, universal health care that includes abortions, miniscule military, a much lower rate of incarceration, higher life expectancy, proper gun regulations.....we can't imagine living where people openly carry guns.......

To us, the United States of America looks like a bonkers reality TV show within a stone's throw of our Southern border......Pierre Trudeau said back in the 60's that living next to the US is like sharing a bed with an elephant....

It is a mystery to me why some of these conservatives dislike non-Americans discussing American politics. Maybe it has to do with the anti-immigrant movement in the US, who knows.

They fail to recognize that the United States of America, for the last 125 years, has been busy intervening and deposing democratically elected foreign governments. It would be naïve to think that people from other countries can’t have an opinion in American politics.

Merry Christmas.....Probably the same people who think that immigrants dilute America......Tucker uses the analogy of coffee diluted by cream....That is one very silly analogy......

Not to mention the hundreds of American military installations in foreign countries across the globe.....But you foreigners shouldn't have any opinions about the US......And I should tell my American friends to stop posting political stuff on my fb and instagram........

Feliz Navidad! Some of these people don’t care about others as long as you are not American. Being cruel to others is their main feature. Trying to reason with them is useless. It is why I refuse to engage Orange Turd kool-aid drinkers.

Lots of them sound like white supremacist Tucker Carlson. They hate diversity, they are anti-immigrant, hate LGBTQ, and are misogynistic.

Some of these fools make me laugh when they try to push down my throat their Christian nationalistic agenda. America was not founded as a Christian nation as they claim. They fail to realize that they are discriminating against anyone who is not Christian. They also forgot that the first settlers from Europe arrived in the “New World” looking to escape from religious persecution, in search of religious freedom.

Our education system is so broken, that a lot of Americans are clueless as to what kind of damage our government has done in terms of regime change to lots of foreign countries.

I lost count have many Overthrow: America's Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq books from Stephen Kinzer I have purchased and given as a gift to friends and acquaintances.

**Overthrow: America's Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq by Stephen Kinzer

Foreign correspondent Kinzer tells the stories of the audacious politicians, spies, military commanders, and business executives who took it upon themselves to depose monarchs, presidents, and prime ministers in fourteen countries, including Cuba, Iran, South Vietnam, Chile, and Iraq.

I remember being told, many years ago when I first joined this site to stay out of American politics, so I did.
I find US politics interesting but a bit strange.
I couldnt understand how there were only two suitable candidates for President, one was sightly mad and the other too old. Enough said.

Koffla you might want to take a look at Ukraine ....begging the world for help and not getting what they need to win. I kinda like our Military. ..

And I had to laugh in 2003 when candidate for Vice President Sara Palin said "I can see Russia from my hoooouse" ....

It's not so funny right now ... ya think?

If I am not mistaken, I think Palin ran for vice-president in 2008. Not surprisingly, she is still a grifter.

My point about the government is that we destabilize third world countries that democratically elect their leaders, then we complain that people from those countries want to move to the U.S. when we install puppet "leader"/dictators that oppress their own people simply because they do America's bidding. .

Blubbering aimlessly about what you think American people think, say, and do, is what you call a discussion LOL ... sure it is ...

And actually my "opinion" of what LIFE IN CANADA IS, is not colored / prejudiced because I don't have an opinion on what LIFE IN CANADA IS ... I've never lived in Canada!! And I'm not continually searching for negativity / drama to post online about Canadians.

It takes more than one person to have a discussion......You seem to choose to be oblivious about all kinds of things.....that's your choice....right now you are choosing to throw out petty insults rather than participate in a discussion........

I post a lot of blogs and only a small percentage of them are about American politics ......I don't go looking for "negativity/drama" to post about.....it comes flying at my head whenever I go online.........Are you under the impression that when I browse the internet, the only information that is on offer is about Canada and I have to go looking for "negativity/drama" concerning the US? That's extremely naive of you.......

Yeah....there are some insults in there......This blog is in response to yet another of the many insults that are constantly thrown at me by Americans who are so stupid that they can't conceive of people having an interest in anything but what is right under their nose....

Bill O'Reilly illustrated that attitude often, but the most memorable occasion was when he interviewed a professor of Religious Studies, who taught the History of Christianity. Bill knew before the interview that the man was Muslim and had just published a book on the history of Christianity.......He attacked the author....questioning how a Muslim could know anything about Christianity......how dare a Muslim deign to know enough about Christianity to write a book.......The author kept telling Bill his credentials.....that he had a post-doctoral degree in the history of Christianity etc.....but Bill kept going, suggesting that there was something sinister and depraved about someone being that interested in a religion he doesn't practice and Bill yelled that he himself had no interest in any other religion but the one he practiced and that his lack of intellectual curiosity was normal and the author's interest was pathological..........

I've had enough of boors insulting me, trying to shame me for my intellectual curiosity..

Perhaps your intellectual insults are your problem.
