The church was situated close to the river and was surrounded by hay fields and grazing cows and horses.....We rode our bikes up there a lot....I remember we would pick a bunch of Tansy and climb up on the rail fence and the cows and horses would com over and put their faces in our laps so we would rub the flowers on them to keep the bugs away and scratch their itches....

There was a huge pipe organ in that church and one of the young priests was an amazing player.....He would open the double doors at the rear of the church and we sat on the rails in the sunshine. surrounded by the thundering music and smelling the Tansy.....That was pure happiness for me.....

Interesting! The pic resembles the one I took by the cemetery and church two weeks ago near Nockamixon Lake Park. It is a very peaceful location.

Wonderful picture of the Church, must have been a great place to listen to the music!

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I would love to walk up to the church and listen to the music or just sit inside and contemplate....... How old was the surrounding grave yard at the time?

This church was built in 1734, but there are existing historical records going back to the mid 15 hundreds and it was probably established 200 years before that.

It is a state church, so all births and deaths are recorded by the church, including my birth....this church also serves as a polling station.....Because of the ancient, magnificent organ and acoustics, there have been many musical recordings made there.

There is a child-sized carved and painted wooden angel hanging from the ceiling....it's a flying angel with it's arms stretched out in front....It is lowered during ceremonies....I remember it in my little sister's baptism.....I thought it was very sweet and beautiful holding the bowl of water for the priest.....
At my grandmother's funeral, when I was very sad, on the verge of screaming, I looked up...there was a glittering up there from the sunlight through the high windows and there was the angel, way up there in Heaven and as I stared, she winked at me....just like my grandmother would do to signal to me in the midst of turmoil that she was with me.......I remembered that angel as being breath-takingly beautiful, but a few years ago, I saw a photo of it and it is really very ugly......LOL....

Thank you......Another strong memory is many people arriving by rowboat, some of them Samii in their most colourful garb.....And in the Winter, many arriving on skiis and the pile of snow right beside the doors where people stood their skiis and poles upright, into the snow, so they wouldn't disappear if it snowed while they were inside......
