I see the Portland Blues Festival is back after it's Covid hiatus.....July 1-4th.....in a beautiful waterfront park......All proceeds go to Food Banks......

I have gone many years.....We drive to Vancouver, take a ferry to Seattle, drive to Portland......We had friends in Portland to stay with......I won't be going this year, but I sure want to......I see Taj Mahal is headlining.....I've been listening to him for most of my life......amazing musician.........I think I'll sit on the beach here at home and listen to Taj on my head-phones....It will have to do.

What kind of music do you like to listen to in the Summer?

I like blues and soft jazz most of the time. When I'm not listening to CBC radio in the car, I've got a Diana Krall cd playing.

I like Gordie Lightfoot's sound, and also Placido Domingo.

**Summertime and the Living is Easy ~~ Ella Fitzgerald

The festival looks like fun ...

Rock and Blues are what I listen to most unless it's radio. A summer playlist for an outside BBQ at sunset along with plenty of beer might include some old biggies like Santana, Clapton, Springstein, Stones, Garcia, B.B. King, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, even the Beatles ... and the volume wouldn't be low. A 90s era Rolling Stones concert is at the top of the list . .. Keith, Ronnie and Mick are some of my favorite blues players.

Sounds good to me.......Diana Krall is very smooth.....I particularly like her stand-up bass.......

Sounds good......I would add Canned Heat, Ten Years After, Steppenwolf, Dire Straits, Crosby Stills Nash and Young..........and a hookah.

Most anything from the 60s/ 70s, so many brilliant groups and bands back then. A great time to be young .

Pity you can't make the festival, but you will be there in spirit.

I like the artwork - is it a lino cut?

The Portland Blues Festival sounds like a fun event to be part of - there's nothing like live music.

I haven't been to any live performances since June 2021 - Covid pared back many live music shows here too. One show was held outdoors (natural amphitheatre setting) in March 2021 - alternate rock/NZ bands (Crowded House headlined) and the other in a small, intimate setting (old opera house) in June 2021, to see young NZ soul singer Teeks, who was on tour promoting his debut album 'Something To Feel' with small orchestra and back-up singers in tow. Excellent show and I enjoy listening to his album while driving. Teeks is a singular artist who first caught my attention performing at the nation's all-star benefit for the victims of the two Christchurch mosque attacks in March 2019 where a lone gunman opened fire. Fifty-one Muslims died and forty were injured. Less than a month later, NZ parliament introduced new gun laws.
