We heard a huge flock of geese flying North, but we couldn't see them to get a photo....first honkers this Spring....There was a stiff breeze when we first set out, but it died down and it was lovely warm in the Sun....There has been a large herd of Orca in this channel this past week and we were hoping to see some action, but alas, they were laying low...Hope you al had a lovely weekend ...

Yes....they are huge, though they are our smallest whales...Sometimes the ferry captain will announce over the PA that there are whales and "Orcas to starboard!!!" Of course they are recognizable by the upright fins on their backs....You can learn a lot about an Orca by their fins..age and size and unique shapes that identify the individuals. They stay in the same family group for life ...a "pod", so we recognize the pods and keep track of them. There are many people keeping track.....and posting their sightings...from Alaska to Australia....

Sparkle when I was growing up the spring tonic for us was the first new dandelions that would spring forth. We would have them in a salad and they were delicious. Living in Alberta we had tons of them.

Sparkle love your photos. That was a lovely walk that you had. It was sunny here as well but if you were in the shade the wind was chilly. Lots of blossoms around here and the birds are congregating in the trees and chirping away. Saw a couple of robins as well.

LUCKY YOU TO STILL HAVE THE GEESE EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T SEE THEM BUT ONLY HEARD THEM. WE USED TO HAVE GEESE FLYING IN FORMATION OVER NICE WAY BACK WHEN BUT NOW WE DON'T SEE ANY PROBABLY OWING TO OVER DEVELOPMENT OF THE COASTAL AREA. SUCH A SHAME!

It's just the tart of the migration.....Usually, International Women's Day is when the first flocks appear ..

We have been hearing, and seeing geese for a couple weeks now, but they don't seem to be able to make up their mind which way to go. I know spring is on the way, but tonight and the next couple days are very cold, and we are having snow right now.
I was taken by the deep blue of the sky in the last two pictures. Lovely!

Ahhh...YES...that blue..

My daughter and I were sitting on a log resting and looking out to towards the outer islands after clambering around on boulders for a while.....

A young woman friend of ours came along ...dressed in full neoprene diving suit including hood and carrying flippers in one hand and her goggles in the other..going swimming ...

We were all delighted to see each other, and talked for a while and then we heard the swans honking....The were travelling West....going so close over our heads I imagined feeling the wind in their wings ruffled my hair.....They are so busy...so focused and determined...I love them with such a wild love ...A passion that I recognize in the poems of the Sufi....a love that has been harvested by religions through time immemorial ...a love that is too great to bear, so it has been skimmed from our hearts , the priests have re-routed that love, stolen the wildness, tamed it and sold it back to Humanity as God.
