Many tiny rocky islets in our lovely archipelago......They are designated parks.......This one is barely an island.....mostly reef.........

In the Spring, I visit the islets to see the wildflower shows.......I named one islet "Bedspread Island" because the first time I saw it, it was covered in moss and bright flowers.......It was close enough to shore that we could walk out to it at the lowest tides.......That beach was rich with clams and oysters..........Mink and Otters
and shore birds.......

Beautiful..... even rocks can be alive with beauty! Is that one of your grandies? I love that age, so inquisitive and eager to learn and spend time with grandmas.

Beautiful "R" photos, those flowers are really lovely. Everything looks so succulent and rich. The little boy makes the photos extra special.

Interesting array of stone people with creatures and other living things that love them.
Stone all the way down.....

Nothing more entertaining for a young child than a tide-pool......I remember when the kids were 8 or 9 and they played music on the beach....they called it a "Rock Band".......Huge Bull-kelp wash up on the beach after a storm......the bulbs as big as soft-balls. They would cut the end off the end of the bulb and cut the stem off where it was still hollow and play it like a trombone or Didgeridoo........The drums were various driftwood supported on the ends by rocks or other pieces of wood and hit with "drum sticks"....like a Marimba....of course there was much vocalization as well........and some of the littler kids would dance......

Very interesting and varied set. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds 'Red Right Hand' came to mind on seeing the red starfish' (?) inching its way along the rock. Flower, plantlife, rugged rock shots - simply stunning. I can smell the sea from here. Are those giant whelks gathered together at the base of the rocky outcrop?

Thank you....I'm glad you enjoyed my photos......Those are Dire Whelks...and their egg cases.....The spiny things on the left are Sea-Urchins and in the foreground on the right, you can see a broken Urchin shell.......Sea Urchins come in many bright colours, mostly red/oranges and purples........I love the shells....they are very delicate, but so intricately textured, like three-dimensional mandalas in delicate colours......I have always dreamed of building a house the shape of those flattened dome-shaped urchin shells........I have come across piles of them in sea-shore caves, left by otters and mink......The spines are very beautiful too.....like a fairy-tale sword-shell......
